  1. I think the point was that it is a toy and not an NFA firearm. Cute pic though.
  2. To a degree, yes... I think the argument against that would be that there is no restriction on keeping or bearing whatever arms you may legally own, as long as you are on your own property... All that a permit does is allow you to leave your property with them (loaded handguns, at least). So, it could be argued that the TN permit structure doesn't necessarily violate the 2nd Amendment so much as it begs the question of whether or not people have a 'right' to be in public places. If it's not a right, then the permit is valid (again, this is how I picture 'their' argument)... but, if it is indeed a 'right' to be in public places, then the requirement for a permit is invalid. Because, if that's the case, I don't need anyone's permission to occupy a public place and exercise my rights, any more than on my own property.
  3. If the instructor/school is willing to refund or readminister the class at no cost to you, that would be the best option. Aside from that, take the course elsewhere, know your requirements beforehand, and if it comes to it you should be able to easily get recompensed for the first class and the trouble to resolve the issue... or, you could settle for posting the name of the school for all to see
  4. Snappy Tomato is leading by one vote... Looking forward to this weekend (I need to go get some .38spl and targets... just realized that I'm totally out).
  5. Name's Ash, Housewares.
  6. Younger generations are always criticized by the previous generation(s), who have forgotten how they were perceived at the same age. Society changes, rarely for the better, but older generations are seldom willing to admit the responsibility rests upon themselves for the decomposition we now witness... and the current generation is responsible for continuing it after they are gone, or making an effort to reverse the process and leave society in a better condition than when we were brought into it.
  7. You can't fix stupid... but thankfully, it usually fixes itself. This guy couldn't even get that right though. At least he'll get another opportunity. Edit: I have made a couple posts invisible temporarily, for (probably) obvious reasons... thanks for your patience. Edit: The removal of the posts is no longer temporary.
  8. I wonder if some of my co-workers are deep-sea divers, part-time... that would expalin a few things...
  9. It's possible to have a non-serious discussion without degenerating into silly or worse. Moved this and the Satan thread into the 'Off-Topic' section. If they get to the point where there is a concensus that they are offensive, we'll shut 'em down... participation is optional until then.
  10. Why would he need to carry? All the bad guys are on his side...
  11. Oh come now, why not volunteer to hand over our DNA information? Surely that would be the path of least resistance so that we can all go about our lives more securely, and of course we wouldn't want to make it more difficult for our public servants to do their jobs...
  12. Some of the dumbest people I know are the ones who were playing video games and watching TV for hours instead of reading. We've turned into a visual society, and the result is a very one-dimensional learning and thinking style. I'm very thankful that my parents never got cable, or me a game console... instead they took me to the library. I certainly don't feel like I missed out.
  13. That just means we have alot to overcome as we are struggling with the sad state of economic and social affairs which the previous generation is saddling us with...
  14. One can certainly be pleasant without volunteering information which is irrelevant to a traffic stop.
  15. If the reloaded cases were out of spec, that could certainly prevent the slide from going into battery... I think that is is indeed a design flaw in the gun, however, which allowed the striker to fall when the slide was out of battery, if that is the case. The incident could have been prevented by using factory ammo, OR by safe function of a properly designed disconnector.
  16. As long as the trade isn't between people who cannot legally possess firearms, or for illegal goods (drugs, stolen items), I don't see any laws prohibiting whatever arrangement for payment the parties involved agree upon.
  17. True, but it seems to me that he placed great value on doing things manually... being born and dying for instance, instead of snapping his fingers and granting salvation... so it would not surprise me if he would have taken the same approach with regards to defending himself... it being more real and personal that way. I can't really argue either way though, since it's all speculation.
  18. God gave many of his creatures fangs, claws, and/or venom with which to defend themselves and hunt... he gave humans a brain with which to devise tools to suit this purpose. I need no further justification for using it.
  19. SIGARMS Customer Service @ 603-772-2302 will be able to give you a S/N breakdown. There is no public database which I am aware of.
  20. Closed the 2 referenced threads and redirected them here. I missed you guys too.

  22. I've met alot of people who only hunt, but do not carry or even keep their hunting weapon loaded or accessible at home... and I've met plenty of folks who shoot competetively or recreationally who are the same. I agree that most people do have some inkling of a serious intent for keeping their firearm, but there are many who have not or will not consider it... just like not everyone who has a rifle is interested in hunting.
  23. Heh... I don't think anybody would argue that the Sigma or Glock really has a 'good' trigger'. Adequete for 'serious' situations though... sure. But probably a poor choice for 'recreation' or 'sport' without some modification
  24. No quantification at all... it's simply a mindset difference. For some shooters it's recreation (hence 'recreational shooter'), and for others it's intended to be preparation (hence 'serious shooter'), or for competition/hunting (hence 'sport shooter'). That doesn't mean that there won't usually be some recreation in it for the serious guy and the guy who does it as a livelihood...
  25. A serious shooter is somebody who doesn't just do it for fun.
