The people who would argue against people carrying guns are simply unwilling to accept the truth, anyways...

When that caliber is available in a J-frame, I will buy one... I don't care for SP101s any more than a Charter (and I have a Charter... an older one).
-
Or a single-shot... those are even more reliable.

This issue has been discussed elsewhere, but to summarize... the striker of a Glock when loaded is not at rest, either, and has been proven to have sufficient energy if only released from the partially-cocked position, not drawn back any further, to reliably ignite a primer... hence the Glock's failure of the DEA tests when it repeatedly discharged when thrown, although the trigger was obviously not pulled. I agree that it's not identical to the 1911-based definition of Condition 0... but as I referred to it, it is "most like" that condition. Also, since the gun has no double-strike capability, it is not true DAO either. For example, another pistol which is commonly referred to as DAO, the Kel-Tec P3AT, is also pre-cocked and has no re-strike capability... is not truly DAO either, since, if the hammer is released from the short trigger reset which does not draw the hammer back at all from the pre-cocked position, it will still fire most primers somewhat consistently... and it is pre-cocked far less than a Glock (something like only 20%). So, I'm not just picking on Glocks here, I think the whole system of defining DAO and SAO is out of whack, when several pistols which operate in nearly identical manners are catagorized differently solely because of import laws, as you mentioned. I guess it really doesn't matter how it's defined if it works... not everything has to fit in the 'box'. But there really needs to be something to call these types of pre-cocked systems other than the misleading DAO misnomer.

I like mine... not so much from a functionality standpoint though, since it's one of the most unrefined pistols I've ever owned, and is only reliable with FMJ ammo. It's great for concealment though... and it's cheap enough to where I don't really care if I sit on it or sweat on it, or get lint all in it. It still shoots, it's more accurate than I expected (not that my expectations were high), and it gives me a few more shots in a smaller package than a revolver. My main complaint is the trigger... I don't expect a DAO trigger to be that great, but the short reset point which only releases the hammer, instead of drawing it back first, causes alot of FTF issues... and since there's no double-strike capability, the only option is to make sure to not short-stroke the trigger (of course, one can short stroke a revolver trigger, too...). Would I buy another one? No... Will I keep this one? Yeah, For a while, but only until I can find a replacement which I know that I will be content with.

This is in the 'off-topic' section... and the discussion is related to the controversial nature of the joke itself. As long as the topic is debated, and not each other, there's no harm.

I will always be a handgun shooter... and I prefer semi-autos. But, I will also always have a special place in my heart for a nice lever-action rifle in .357mag or .45lc.

Well, I'm out on it then. I'm sticking with the one I've got. Sorry Springfield, that's a loser. -

Springfield should take a hint from S&W and offer a rebate and free magazines to the first 10,000 or so buyers... That'll get enough out the door to create positive feedback. -
Awww Mike... no worries, we just have to learn to go forward and leave the past behind.

Must be a fake picture... I've never seen anybody smile while leaning over the fender of a Vega. -

Dumb joke... It must be because there were so many people in there clinging to their guns and religion... -

I bet it'll be pretty even on both sides, honestly... there will be some closet racists who will vote for him because he is black. I'd say it'll be a wash. -

I just hope this doesn't turn into an "If you didn't vote for him you're a racist" thing... -
You don't have to pretend it's okay, either.

There's a bunch of factory and aftermarket parts now available through pistolgear.com and others... the springs, pins, and the recoil assemblies are the big things, since the pistol is so simple. -
I just can't stand going to a business and being treated as if the time they spend with me is a nuisance... I despise the attitude that non-LEOs are of lower priority as customers, and that the decision to buy a product which a police officer wouldn't use is lame... I can't stand being talked down to for my choice of firearm, ammunition, holster, etc (aside from in a joking manner, or a helpful one)... I can't stand being blatantly overcharged for a product and service. Most of all I despise businesses which I patronize as a way of supporting the local economy, and am treated as if I owe it to them. Nothing against them personally, but they showed me quickly that they were content with the business they received from their LEO/Security cronies, and I was just an annoyance to be 'buzzed in' through their super-duper security locked front door at their leisure, and maybe addressed if there wasn't one of their buddies in the store, or if one walked in, I would be summarily ignored. My only purchase there, they made sure to charge me $100 to install a 5' length of webbing and a side-sling mount for my AR (should have only been about $25 in parts, and 5 min to install, after later doing my research). I gritted my teeth and politely paid it, reminding myself that I hadn't asked for a quote beforehand, and this would be my stupid-tax to never forget why I would do business elsewhere from then on. Maybe they've improved since I was last there (almost 2 years)... but I'll never find out.

Technically, the conditions only apply to 1911-style pistols... but, since the Glock has no manual safety which requires an independant action to disengage, it is most like condition 0 (cocked, safety off)... since no operation is required to precede pulling the trigger, in order to discharge the weapon from a cocked condition. And condition 2 is when the hammer is down (a-la your Beretta).

You'd get the most use out of a 1911, I think... but from a practicality standpoint, the SBS would make an awesome HD gun. A suppressor would be very cool to have, but as far as usefulness, I just don't see it. Maybe for a .22lr rifle for vermin elimination, but that's about it.

I'm interested to see whether or not the internals (specifically the trigger bar and sear) are interchangeable with the standard XD... if so, it'll be compatible with the drop-in trigger job parts on the market, and would be simple to turn into a sweet USPSA Limited pistol. If it's been totally re-designed though, I'll probably pass on one.
