  1. But I like Vermont.... (more than Georgia) I'd like to pit Kentucky, Texas, Arizona, and Tennessee against New York, New Jersey, Illinois, and California though...
  2. I don't see a significant difference between asking me if I have a gun and asking me if I have a permit... I wouldn't treat the question differently based on the wording, and I don't believe that any reasonable person would, either. If I've got an unloaded rifle in the vehicle, and for some reason I'm not carrying, the permit wouldn't be relevant, and so I wouldn't show it (what would be the point?). So then the correct answer to the question is "I don't have anything illegal in my vehicle. Am I free to go?".
  3. You were making a good point until that. The takedown lever and barrel lockup were copied from the Sig (the parts could literally interchange and function between my XD and P239), as could the sights. To say that there are no engineering parallels is simply ignorance, this has been noted by a number of professional sources.
  4. ...or, get pulled over for out of date tags, no mention of weapons is ever made, and we both go home having taken care of the relevant business without any complications. The bottom line is, if they don't bring it up, I have no reason to.
  5. I always considered the XD line to be very similar to the Sig, in terms of general feel, position of the slide-release, sights, pointability, etc... Might be worth considering. Between just the 2 makers you mentioned... The H&K is higher quality, and won't force you to strain your natural grip like a Glock will (assuming you already know that the Sig grip-angle fits you).
  6. Make sure to show them your fishing license, too, if there's a rod&reel in your vehicle...
  7. To be perfectly honest, I don't remember his name... I just recall the mention that he had been on there, when he was introduced to the class.
  8. Interesting... so if they are recognized as 'beings', now, can they be charged with crimes? Instead of killing the weeds in my lawn, I'll just call the cops and have them arrested for tresspassing...
  9. They won't know I'm armed unless they ask. And only then would the mention of firearms in our conversation be relevant... and the best response would simply be to hand over my HCP when the question is asked. There's no reason to volunteer information unless it benefits me.
  10. In most cases, the factory sights suck. Glock created a huge market for aftermarket sights...
  11. I don't watch the show... but a couple years ago my wife-to-be and I took dancing lessons from one of the competitors.
  12. Hi-Shok is not the same as Hydra Shok... Consider it the same quality as Winchester White-Box JHPs. Still a good price though.
  13. I've camped at Rock Island and Fall Creek Falls. Fall Creek Falls has more campsites (= more people), and more infrastructure. It's still pretty nice. Rock Island gets my vote though, it just feels better, and isn't so packed with campers that you feel like you're at a theme park with trees.
  14. A small 9mm will have the same felt recoil, or even more snappiness, than a large .45 pistol. Perhaps a mid-size 9mm with some weight to it would be a better option for introducing the recoil-sensetive to carrying a viable defensive weapon. The H&K P7 suggestion was exactly what I was thinking...
  15. What kind of ammo? Surplus? Factory reloads? Factory New? Match Grade? If you're just after some clean shooting cheap stuff... check out www.georgia-arms.com
  16. It could be for sale, if you happen to like it. I've got a pocket pistol and a reliable HD gun, so I don't need it anymore. It shoots great. No problem to plink with std-pressure .38s all day long.
  17. I actually have a Charter Undercover .38 (which is the same thing as the Pink Lady, minus the pink). I'll bring it.
  18. The simplest solution is to learn english. If I go to another country to make my residence and take advantage of opportunities there, it is not their responsibility to accommodate me for my own benefit. However, the requirement for a permit is dumb, as it is... I don't think that one should have to jump through hoops or speak a particular language to defend oneself or buy tools, and the government shouldn't be responsible for enabling that.
  19. These guys must have needed a 2nd job...
  20. Awwww c'mon... that makes too much sense, 'cause then the need to have two separate debates about which would be better for gaming and which would be better for carry wouldn't exist, and we'd all begin to feel un-fulfilled.
  21. I think it would be extremely naive of us to imagine that these new developments are going to cause any change in simian expansionist policy. I mean, we must be increasingly on the alert to prevent them from taking over other trunk space, in order to defend themselves more prodigiously than we do, thus, knocking us out in superior strength when called upon! We must not allow... a TRUNK MONKEY GAP!
  22. The current problem is not the production of oil, it is the rate (and cost) of refinement.
  23. It'll be a great 'gaming' pistol... that may have been the intent. And it is also my understanding that this is not going to replace the current XD lineup (right away).
  24. I'm holding out for the 'genie in a bottle'...
