  1. That never happens to me :stunned:   Guess thats what I get for hanging around gun knowledgeable people. Probably should hang out at the widower's bingo parlor to score ... don't go there....GUNS......pervert.  :yuck:
  2. I left my home state of Michigan 40 years ago ... I love the South, especially the good folks who live here.
  3. I'm with HP .....  trade them both for a Hi-Power :pleased:       Really though, I love CZs...my .221 Fireball is a CZ!
  4. WTF was that?  I just wasted 3 minutes and 45 seconds of my life. LOL
  5.   Wish I knew ... just sold one awhile back ...pain in the ass...literally...have a field full of donkeys and that dang uni kept doing bad things with his horn...they're really overated.
  6.   Well, you're right, they're not cheap. A., you can seach in springtime for dropped sheds, the proverbial needle in a haystack, (how valuable is your time?) or B., buy a deer tag, go hunting, spend a gazillion dollars and hope to bag a buck. At least you can do something with them in TN. In KY, you can't sell any part of any game animal, including sheds or even old deer head mounts, and that sh#t just ain't right :pleased:
  7. I've been thinking of getting one also, but first I'm going to wait and see if "fuel" is going to be available before I buy yet another rimfire. :pleased:
  8. Man, I didn't think you were old enough for shingles...that's scary, you're now the second person I know that's had it.   I wish you speedy recovery and hope to see you on the range soon!
  9. Is it legal to sell deer antlers in TN? I'm going through 'stuff' in my garage and have like 40 years worth of deer antlers, both from deer I've killed and some sheds too. The bigger racks I've hung up, but have lots of dinky racks, fork horns that I need to do something with. I've seen them on eBay, but not sure of legality of selling on internet. Thought I'd make contact with a knifemaker maybe in Tn.
  10. Yeah, my air rifles work ok. I'm in a residential neighborhood, so I really don't want to fire any .22 bullets in the area for liability. I just thought it be fun to minimally push some shot out of my shotgun with no much more than a primer and a tiny bit of powder. This site was interesting, showing a barrel for metro park use...nuisance geese, got plenty of those around here too, luckily all down at the lake (Old Hickory).   http://www.kebcollc.com/cart/store.php?crn=209&rn=596&action=show_detail
  11. Anyone ever make a low power 12 ga. shotshell. I've got a reloader and would like to roll one for as quiet as possible ... for varmint squirrels :pleased: .   I'm in the county but have older neighbors on both sides of me and I respect their peace by not discharging anything louder than my air rifles. How little powder could I get away with to make a shotshell that's fairly quiet, but still lethal at 10 yards for blasting the furry varmints that ate the wiring harness on my truck?   Like killer bears in Alaska that taste human blood, these sleasy furballs like rubber coated wiring harnesses and I'm afraid they'll come back for more!
  12. The last MSRP I saw before the crap was $399. I'll wait until the new norm arrives and Keltec catches up. I was about to buy one when everything went to hell.
  13. I moved my 8-year-old safe recently from one concrete floor to another. Yes there was surface rust on the bottom ... but do you guys realize how long it would take for 3/8" thick steel to rust through? More years than you'll be around on the planet is my guess. To me, its a cosmetic thing, and one you can't see in the first place! I'm not going to worry about it. It's solid and as mentioned above, adding wood to the equation could jeopardize the security of it.   :2cents:  :pleased:
  14. In my working days as a magazine editor, a "regular" that always showed up in the submitted articles we'd get was utilized. "We will utilize the program this spring." We always edited that one to "We will use the program this spring." Same meaning, less fluff. Write tight is what they teach in editing school.   But with thumb texting the norm, writing "tight" is going from good to bad real quick. And the fact that cursive writing is being taken out of our schools also ... it will only get worse.   Don't forget to and too, I see that a lot on these forums TOO :)
  15. I had one of those Romanians a few years back, paid $69, but the stock didn't look that nice. Other than a heavy trigger pull, the little rifle shot pretty accurate. I sold it to a buddy who cut the stock down to make a youth gun for his boy. I'm guessing they'd have to be worth $100 today...as just about any .22 in working order is.   I do wonder though if the .22 market is falling off a bit due to ammo being so scarce right now. Any thoughts on this?
  16. Heh, heh...sounds like you also found some of those in a mix of regular .45 auto brass? :pleased:
  17.   +1 on that... on gougers I say boo...on shooters...go enjoy.
  18. Been listening to Ray Stevens for a long time ... If  you're my age, you'll remember his first hit back in the sixties....Ahab the Arab...Ol Ray is still doing pretty good considering he's in his mid 70s now.
  19. Thought I'd post back as it seemed Reloaders Bench got thrown under the bus on this thread. Maybe warranted, maybe not, to each his own on that.   However, I went to Reloaders Bench today to see if they had a replacement primer decapper pin for my Dillon, since I had no luck actually contacting anyone at Dillon. Larry, the older guy, dug around on his Dillon shelf and found a package of pins. He matched it up, screw it back together and handed it back to me.   I asked him what I owed...he said "Have a good day."   I don't think I'd get that across the street at Academy Sports, even if they carried Dillon. Nuff said.
  20.   We don't need no stink'n gun laws in Tn.... :yuck:   Just KIDDING Henry! I'm originally from Flint Mi., though I don't spread that around my southern friends much. I left Mi. when I joined the Army in '73 and never went back. I love the south, and the laws of the south...especially when I remember that in Mi., I had to register ALL my handguns, 2nd hand or not, with the sheriffs department...I imagine that law is still in effect? I don't think my CCW permit works up there either.   I do miss the beauty of the woods and lakes in the 'Upnorth' of the state...and the fact that Michiganders don't litter their outdoors...never understood why that happens down here,,,when the south has just as pretty lakes and woods, minus the trash, bottles and old car tires. :usa:
  21.   Now that's old...was that the yellow box? Bet the dust was thick on that.
  22. I was digging deep in the reloading room cabinets tonight when I found a box of 9mm bullets overlooked. Knocking the dust off, I saw that they were Remington 115gr. JHP, 100 count, and marked $6.09. I think I teared up a bit.   Give me your good 'ol days component prices, so we can cry in our beer together. :stunned:
  23.   I agree, I'm going to let a lot lay for awhile. I was in reloaders bench today just to look. Didn't buy anything. He had a decent shelf full of primers...all of them including SP, $39...yep, just going to let it lay awhile. I made a pact with myself tonight that I'm going to try to hold out until 2014 before I buy any ammo, unless we return to normal before then. I know I can stretch my .22s out that long, and I'm sitting ok for reloading components. Did I mention I'm doing more fishing this year than normal? LOL....   I really need a new bumper sticker that says AMMO GOUGERS SUCK   ... :yuck:
  24. I bought a new Raven about 30 years ago, I think they were about $40 new. Used it for a 'truck' gun for at least 10 years, never failed to fire, was way more reliable than the little Jennings .22 I had. Those little semi-rimmed 25s always cycled. I also liked the solid barrel to frame set up, it actually shot quite well for a pocket pistol, I remember shooting frogs in a pond with it, redneck fun.   BTW...the only BAD thing about 25s, have you priced the ammo for it? Waaaaay more than .380 or even 9mm....makes no sense.
