  1. You can bring your own ammo and targets to both.
  2. I shoot at Range USA in Memphis and in Jackson. The one in Jackson is newer and you can shoot AR's there any day of the week with any ammo!
  3. People need to stop being afraid of religion. Like it or not, since the dawn of modern civilization, and even pre-modern civilization, faith has made its way into societal laws and traditions. Even the Deism from our Founding Fathers has permeated our laws.
  4. Wolf and Tula are going to be the cheapest plinking ammo. But it is steel cased, dirty, and inconsistent due to weak loads and poor quality control. But for just blasting, they serve their intended purpose. Generally, you want to aim for getting them at around 20 cents per round, although with the scarcity, I'm sure prices are higher. In my experience, the best plinking ammo (when you can find deals, although prices have increased significantly lately. Used to be 25 cents a round, but I think it is up to 30+ now) is the PMC X-Tac 5.56mm ammo. I've found them to be extremely consistent, and in my match rifle, they shoot hole on hole (I have only used the 55gr, not the 62gr). Usually, I use sgammo.com to purchase bulk ammo and at times I have used palmettostatearmory
  5. The closest to a 1911 trigger you will get is if you get the FSS kit and the USB, not the DCAEK kit...however, coming from a 1911 guy, if you want a 1911 trigger pull, shoot a 1911. The FSS kit and USB are completely installable by a non-gunsmith. Apex even provides a video installation guide that goes through the whole process. All you need is an allen wrench to remove the rear sight (I'm not sure what size) and a pin punch to knock out the pins, and AFAIK, those are the only tools you need.
  6. Apex parts are indeed excellent. I've got the sear for my M&P. However, you can also polish your stock parts to make things smoother. Your trigger should already be lightened since you have the Pro and the most common complaint is grittiness (although my non-Pro did not have that issue). You can polish your sear, trigger bar, and striker safety plunger to make the pull smoother and produce a "better" trigger reset.
  7. I've got them all and I really like the Magpul STR stock. It has the same cheekweld as the LMT SOPMOD but it locks up tighter, has easier to access storage, and also allows the thicker recoil pad, which I find more comfortable, and in a test that tests the strengths (against breakage) of most of the available adjustable stocks, the STR was near the top of the list.
  8. Have you asked your doctor about ultrasound therapy? I've seen some patients that have had it with some success. It breaks the stone up into smaller pieces.
  9. 3 years? That means you're stuck here for life!
  10. It isn't a standard practice, but it is common amongst small companies, ranging from restaurants, service, etc. Go and look at the books at businesses with 30 or less employees, and compare that with actual observed transactions, and you'll see that many evade taxes through cash sales. Small businesses generally don't have the revenue to get them audited or thrown in the federal pen (I'm assuming that's what PMITAP might stand for). But having been around sole-proprietorships all my life, its just something that you see all the time.
  11. Larger profit margins on firearm sales. Many don't report all of their firearm sales, so with cash, they actually pay less tax because it goes unreported. This particularly applies to those who offer "no sales tax" for cash sales.
  12. I used to have my own business and I never charged extra for customers that paid with credit card. Now, local customers knew that if they paid me cash, I would make more profit, and the good customers would opt to do that. But I didn't think it was fair to have a different price based on how customers paid me. Some may say this is not smart business practice, but I went into business for the customer, not just for me. So, I too, dislike when a posted price is a "cash price" and if I want to use my credit card, then I have to pay extra. A business should know that if they want to make up that 3% loss, then just sell more items. I shouldn't have to walk around with hundreds of dollars on me at all times to buy items in cash, nor should I have to continually make trips to the post office to buy money orders if I want to buy from an online vendor that does the same thing. I'm not sure why many gun sellers do this. I think it is shady.
  13. There are also gas blocks with built in flip sights on them. Perhaps getting one of those and selling your railed gas block might be the cheaper alternative? And then getting a Magpul for the rear. You can get this - http://www.del-ton.com/YHM_Front_Sight_Gas_Block_p/st1018.htm and then sell your existing gas block $60 or whatever it cost. So net additional cost would just be $30ish for front block and sight, and then u can spend $40-50 on the rear Magpul. Lotta money saved there.
  14. I've got the regular M&P fullsize, but turned mine into a Pro by adding Novak plain rear with green fiber optic front sight (exact same ones that come on the Pro, although I had originally wanted the Warren Tactical sights, but the gun shop ordered the Novaks instead. Wanted the Warrens for the rear sight so that I could do one handed racks but its ok) and the Apex hard sear. Opted to go hard sear instead of the full kit because it reduces pull weight and has a more defined reset, while still being carry friendly. I handpolished part of the striker block, the new sear, and trigger bar to remove grittiness. Actually there was minimal grittiness to begin with, even with the stock parts, but no harm in a gentle hand polish. Basically a Pro model without the Pro model wait time and costs the same. I also ordered the Costa Ludus extended mag release because my hands are small. Can't wait for that to come in. I definitely recommend going this route though because the sear is better and I'm told my trigger is a little nicer than the OEM Pro trigger, and had I gotten the Warren sights like I originally intended, is a more practical sight than the Novak, when it comes down to worse case scenario and only one arm is functional.
  15. This is how Julie Golob's M&P should have been made!
  16. *** image removed *** April 24th and its from PP balance, so funds isn't an issue. Could it be because I opted to extend it to one year instead of renewing for 6 months only?
  17. For combat, go with chrome-lined due to corrosion resistance, slightly easier on cleaning, and longer wear. You can still use chrome-lined barrels for match shooting, but many match barrels are not lined because the chroming isn't a perfect process. Variations in lining thickness, effects on rifling, quality, etc., affect precision. Its also an added cost. That being said, my Noveske SS match barrel shoots better groups than my Daniel Defense chrome-lined with the same ammo. Is it lining alone? Probably not but at the end of the day, I'm not putting a million rounds through either barrel. And they both shoot well....if this was an AK47, then I would go with chrome-lined all the way because surplus ammo is nasty. But on an AR, as a civilian and non-competitive shooter, really makes little difference either way.
  18. I got this error [#10CFDM2024] You do not have permission to list adverts.] I sent a message yesterday but didn't get any response (not sure how long I was supposed to wait) so figure I would post it here in case admins see this more frequently. My benefactor subscription should be current and I can even take a screenshot of my PayPal if needed. Please advise. Thanks! Edit - Just noticed that my avatar no longer says TGO Benefactor. But I did pay though, so let me know if I need to post the screenshot.
  19. Just called them and spoke with them. For any interested, the range is 25 meters and you can use any ammo, including M855, but no ammo designated as armor-piercing and no tracers. Also, memberships at the Memphis location also carry over to the Jackson location.
  20. I thought bout getting the Pro, but ended up getting the regular 4.25" and had my gun shop order some Warren Tactical sights for it (green fiber optic front and plain rear) and I'll be ordering the Apex FSS kit for it later as well to get rid of the pre-travel and lighten up the pull.
  21. Looks like it places it at a closer grip angle to that of the m&p along with the beavertail-ish extension like the m&p. Should make it much more comfortable if that is the case.
  22. I was just browsing on Range USA's website and it says that there is a side of their Jackson range that is rifle rated for most centerfire calibers. Anyone shoot their AR's there yet? Are there any restrictions or anything and can we bring our own ammo? And how long is the range? I would love to go there to shoot or to zero my sights and whatnot as an alternative to driving to Natchez or signing up for a membership at MSSA or the Desoto club. (I do realize I can call, but figured I'd get some opinions as well from here)
