  1. I don't know of any in Nashville with female instructors. Last Saturday my wife went to Guns and Leather in Greenbrier and took the class. (Did a great job, too, if I say so . . . 46 out of 48 in the black - and she never shot before!) I already have my permit, and Guns and Leather allowed me to sit through the course with my wife, as she was reluctant to go alone. I would recommend them to you.
  2. I used to live in Chapel Hill, Cary, and Wake Forest . . . there should be some dove shooting in Chatham County; take Hwy. 64 out of Raleigh to Pittsboro, the county seat. Stop at the Chatham County Sheriff's Department and ask around for some possible dove sites.
  3. +1 A person's worth is judged by much more important criteria than if he or she agrees with me on every conceivable issue.
  4. Refinishing wood (including gunstocks), skeet shooting, fishing, reading, wine making
  5. I am truly, truly sorry for your job loss. Remember, this says nothing about you as a person; it says everything about corporate greed. If you cannot find a job in time, take anything you can get from a temp agency until you can find what you want. Best of everything for you . . .
  6. Feedback please! What is the best load of shot for a 12 ga. pump shotgun used for home defense? What do you use? Thanks!
  7. Tonite was fresh maters and cottage cheese, corn bread, and corn
  8. Not growing . . . have worn one for nearly 30 years!
  9. The Rabbi pushed . . . and pushed . . . and was called on it and for it. And I respect and appreciate the TGO administrators for acting when they did.
  10. I've had one for 26 years
  11. My first gun was a Savage over and under with a .22 Long Rifle on top and .410 on the bottom. Still think that is a good combo for kids.
  12. When my oldest daughter turned 16, we decided she was old enough to date. Imagine the look on her date's face when he rang the doorbell and I answered the door wearing my Colt Python in a holster and slamming the action on a pump shotgun . . . His eyes looked like they were gonna pop out of his head! He even had my daughter home early from the date. Hmmm . . . wonder why?
  13. Mike, welcome to TGO. A word of advice: go back to whomever taught your HCP class and DEMAND your money back if you were not taught the basics of carrying a firearm.

  15. Just wait until they become teenagers . . .
  16. HEY GRAMPAW . . .WHAT'S FER SUPPER? Tonight I cooked fried squash and onions, green beans, home grown 'maters, and fried corn. All topped off by the WORLD'S GREATEST CORNBREAD!
  17. WHOOPS!
  18. As a father of two daughters who are 20 and 23, your story brings back many sweet memories and I rejoice with you. This also says a great deal about you as a father. Your girls feel free to have fun with you in this way!

    Boo Hoo

Now everyone . . . let's be kind! Put him on a starvation diet and THEN execute him!
  20. I used to own one and had no trouble with it . . . I sold it to my cousin only because he wanted it so badly when he got his HCP and he offered me a gun in trade and way too much $$$$$!
  21. Exactly what I was going to suggest. If you have never fired a handgun, get used to a revolver first due to its inherent simplicity.
  22. Yes, very much like a long island tea . . . only better
  23. Congrats and thanks to all who make this the BEST forum!
