I believe young kids (16 and under) should not be exposed to adult material of any kind (porn, video games, music, movies, etc.). Therefore I put all the responsibility on the parents, period. I know several parents that have 11 and 12 year olds who are allowed to listen and look and play anything they choose. Will it cause them to have warped characters? I don't know. I do know that I was not willing to gamble on my son's future that way. Did he see any of it, probably, but not in our house. I don't want to censor anything. Make all the video games you want. I believe in freedom. However, with freedom comes responsibility and this is where parents need to step up.

Look for connections. Parental involvement or lack thereof, psychiatric prescriptions, a propensity to be affected by killing games. Everybody is different, the triggers for this kind of behavior are too varied to be distilled to a pat combination. But it seems to be that the most obvious common denominator are that warning signs are often ignored by family and friends.

The way the government gets access to our cash in the mattress could be rather simple. Here's how it was explained to me: On Oct.1 the Feds announce that they will be issuing new currency and you have ten days to exchange the currency you now have; after Oct 10 the old currency will be worthless. Now if I've got $10K stashed around the house what am I going to do? Yep, I'll take it in and exchange for new money which will probably be revalued to included a nifty little one time tax. Will it happen? Probably not. But if we've thought of it surely some weasels in DC have thought of it too. Just one more thing to sleep on tonight. :)
