My new CZ

Nice looking gun.  Enjoy it!
3. Very nice.  Congrats!
4. I wouldn't buy a riffle from someone who can't even spell it.   :shake:
5. Thanks, guys.       I know what you mean about the size, but I'm a pretty big guy so it's not too much of an issue.  My regular EDC for many years has been a Glock 33.  I concealed a Glock 21 with a Galco King Tuk holster for a good while, and always enjoyed carrying a full-size gun.  The trouble with that was when the business end of the slide started wearing holes in my pants, probably from wearing it so much while driving.  That's why I opted for a full-size frame with the shorter barrel on this one.  And the 9mm is for affordability of practice ammo.  Either way, I'll try this one for a little bit and go another way if it doesn't work out.
6. This time it was an XD(M) 3.8" full-size 9mm with night sights. I've been thinking about a new EDC gun for some time now and this one has been looking just right. I wanted a full-size frame/grip with a somewhat short slide and no finger grooves. The 19+1 capacity is tough to beat in pistol this size, and it looks like Springfield has a pretty good sale going on extra mags right now. Any of you have much experience with this gun? What are your thoughts on it? Edit: It looks like the sale at SA has ended...
7. Good conversation in here, guys. Just thought I'd share a pic. The replacement came in on Thursday and she's a beauty. Carter's and Bud's were both great to deal with on this transaction. This is my second order from Bud's. They were quick and professional, and gave me no hassle at all about getting a replacement shipped in a hurry.
8.     Long time bass player here... That's funny stuff!
9.   Do you know what went wrong with yours?
10. Thanks, guys.  I'm still really looking forward to it.  This is just a minor setback.
11.     Thanks, that's good to know.  I've been collecting guns for quite a few years now, but my revolver experience is pretty limited.
12. Hi all.  So I stopped by Carter's Shooting Supply this evening to pick up a S&W 500 Mag that I ordered from Bud's over the weekend.  We opened up the case and there it was in all its glory.  First thing, I tried to open the cylinder for a safety check.  That was when things went downhill.  The gun was frozen up like the cylinder had been welded in place.  I wasn't too familiar with the internal lock on S&W revolvers, so we got one out of the display case for comparison and determined that there was definitely an issue with the gun.  Trigger wouldn't pull, hammer would cock, and the cylinder release wouldn't move...  Anyway, three of us worked at it for a little while, but never could get the thing to open or turn.  The guys at Carter's were very friendly and tried to help, but there wasn't much that could be done without potentially making the gun unreturnable.  I called Bud's and they are going to send a return shipping label to Carter's and get a replacement gun on the way.     I'm guessing this sort of thing has probably happened before, but I haven't done the research just yet.  So yeah... I'm not too upset, just disappointed and thought I'd vent a little.   Thanks for reading.   :-\
13. Another recall from Remington?  Wow.  I think the 887 is a great looking shotgun, but from what I've heard the appearance may be its best quality.
14. Mine's back too, after nearly 11 weeks.  It went in for the trigger recall and for failure to extract after having only fired about one box of ammo since new.  The repair ticket says they found the issues (trigger and extraction) and the gun was "returned to factory specifications."  I guess the factory specification didn't include a functioning rifle because it still won't extract from the chamber.     Freaking ridiculous...  I guess I'll be back on the phone with them tomorrow.

Smallest & Largest

Looks like several folks here have a good variety of firepower.  Good to see.
16. I've been carrying Glocks and occasionally an H&K USP for nearly 10 years.  In and out of vehicles dozens of times a day with plenty of scrapes and impacts on the frames, and I've never seen anything more than minor scratches.  No worries at all.
17. I just ran across this old comparison pic I took and wondered what everyone else might have. Here are a .375 Remington Ultra Magnum, .223 Remington, and .22LR. What are the smallest and largest cartridges you shoot? Pics are encouraged.
18.
And the discount code is? :D
I snapped a quick pic with my phone so I wouldn't forget it. Sorry for the quality. Sent from my iPhone 4S using Tapatalk
19. That seems like a long time, but I guess it's not too bad considering how many rifles they must be getting back right now.  I'm glad to hear it feels the same as when it left.  Mine is going back to the factory by the end of the week.  It's getting a riveted extractor replacement too, but hopefully that won't add much wait time.   Has anybody else made good use of the discount code Remington is offering for our trouble?  I picked up an 870 cantilever slug barrel at a huge discount.  MidwayUSA has it for $369.99, but I got it for about $116 through the factory store after putting the discount code on top of their sale price.
20. You might call a local piano store and see who does their deliveries.  My safe was loaded into my truck with a forklift at about 1,000 lbs, but three guys from the local piano shop got it into the house in just a few minutes with no trouble at all.  I don't remember how much they charged, but it was very reasonable.
21.   Agreed.  On the other side of your question, how would they not notice that before shipping it out?  Quality check much?
22. Thanks for the info.     I just spent 47 minutes on the phone with Remington and found out that my recall submission was not in their system at all, even though I received a confirmation email last night.  That's not good...   The rep said that employees, at least at his level, are being kept in the dark about the actual number of rifles covered under this recall.  He also said that a lot of customers are just opting to install a Timney trigger once they find out that you have to remove your scope before sending the rifle in.  My 700 just has the factory irons installed at the moment, so no problem there.  It looks like my box will be here in a few days and it's expected to take "at least 3 months" to get it squared away.
23. Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I thought it might be more appropriate than starting a new one on the same topic.   I'm late to the party, but I recently found out about this recall and that my 700 is included in it.  I've never experienced the problem described in the recall, but what the heck, my rifle only got about 20 rounds through it before it quit extracting so I'll send it on in.  Remington says only the factory, not their authorized service centers, can work on mine since it's an Ultra Mag gun.  I'm not sure what that's all about, but I just want to get it in good working order and then probably trade or sell it off.  Weatherby certainly has some nice looking rifles...   Anyway, sorry to vent.  To my question...  Has anyone here actually sent their rifle back to Remington for this issue?  If so, have you received your gun back and how long did it take?   Thanks
24. I went up one morning recently.  I was first on the range and of course the second guy to arrive set up right beside me.  Maybe it's just me, but I think of the range like I do a public restroom.  Whenever possible, it's always polite to leave an empty bay between occupants.  Also, just as in a public restroom, NEVER MUZZLE SWEEP YOUR NEIGHBOR!!!     On that note, I noticed that the outhouse has been removed from beside the range.     Unless things have changed over the last year or so, the afternoon crowds are just too much up there.  Too many people, and too much unsafe weapon handling.   Anyway, this was my first time at Prentice Cooper since the range renovations.  The new bench areas are nice, but the cross board at the firing line is too low for anyone over 6 feet tall.  I only shot in the pistol area, but that board was at about mouth level for me, so I had to place my targets at the bottom of the backer board just to be able to see them.  I really appreciate the work that has gone into making it a nicer place to shoot, but that seems like pretty big oversight.   After putting a few downrange, I took a drive around the WMA and saw plenty of deer and turkeys.
