  1. I'd go with the AAC-SD version of that rifle. The AAC-SD version has a 1:10 twist (rather than the 1:12 of the one you link to) which will better stabilize heavier projectiles, and a threaded barrel, just in case you get an itch for suppresors and/or compensators in the future. As far as glass goes, I hear Nikon's offerings are worth the price especially for entry level long range shooters, most of the kudos I've heard went to the "Monarch" line. SWFA's SS 10x42 fixed power offerings start at $299. I know that doesnt fit the specs you refer to, but if I were you I'd check them out.
  2. Definitely can't cite anything, but when I asked the same question on a different board a while back I was told that there HAVE been prosecutions for 922R violations, however they have gone hand in hand with NFA violations... Seems like common opinion was that no one has ever been prosecuted for just a 922R violation.
  3. The situation will always dictate the tactics.
  4. Considering Colt's recent offering of the SP6920, I wouldn't spend this kind of cash on a Bushy.
  5. If ARs at Walmart become commonplace, stand by for knee jerk reaction from the left... I wish. I bet Norinco builds a better rifle than Bushy.
  6. Lightweight pencil barrels, FTW.
  7. No particular order: Danzig-"Mother" Turbonegro-"All My Friends Are Dead" Misfits-"Night Of The Living Dead" (C'mon, there's no way I could have left this one out) Rolling Stones- "Paint It Black" Blood For Blood- "White Trash Anthem" The Eagles Of Death Metal- "Flames Go Higher" The Distillers- pretty much anything off "Coral Fang"
  8. No kidding... Norinco M-14s for chhhhheaaaap! Not to mention how cheap those 10.5" ARs were. I wonder what Norinco quality os like these days. I had MAK-90 many moons ago and it was top notch (especially when set beside a lot of the Romy builds flooding the states right now).
  9. Good heads-up. As someone that uses a light daily (or shall I say nightly) at work, I do have somewhat of a disdain for CR123A batteries, but $30 is definitely good deal.
  10. Fuller is the man. Talk about a guy who CAN polish a turd, take a look at a few of the Century builds he's un-f#$%ed.

    16" vs 18" vs 20"

Most "Dissipator" setups do not have rifle-length gas systems. Most have a carbine length gas system with a shaved gas block which is fully shrouded by the full length hand guards. The A2 sight does not act as a gas block and is in place for the benefit of a longer sight radius only. Like so:

    Glock AR

I talked to one of Glock's reps @ a Fed LEO conference several weeks ago and questioned him about Glock carbines. The rep said they've had several different designs in the prototype phase, but that most were heavily based off of Piston AR designs and that Gaston isn't content with putting out "just another AR". The rep said it won't happen unless they develop something that's uniquely Glock, and decidedly "un-AR".
  13. The Galil is pretty rad in the Micro configuration, but other than that, for what you want you'd be much better served going with an Arsenal 106FR or doing a Saiga conversion... OR just stick with the AR platform.
  14. So, how does this thing feed from the two tubes? Alternately between the 2, or do you manually select which tube to feed from?
  15. Is this old? I mean... the pic is blurry, but it looks like it says 2011 at the bottom of the page, and I thought Blackwater went the way of the buffalo (well, as a company name anyway). This looks like it's aimed at the new breed of tactical bubbas...
  16. Structurally, an excellent idea. Logistically? we've got a few problems... Where are the prisoners now? Depending on type of infection and the time frame of the incident, we could assume one of two scenarios... 1) Prison staff abandoned the prison, and most likely left the prisoners to rot behind bars. Even if we assume the staff abandoned the prison and released the prisoners to fend for themselves, it's likely a large contingent of felons are using the prison as they're stronghold... not the kind of folks you'd want to hunker down with. 2) Infection spread to the prison population and you now have a structure full of infected persons. Either way, it presents a problem. Perhaps a viable option would be a now abandoned prison, such as the old TN State Prison (filming location for "The Green Mile" and "The Last Castle", among others). I've never been in the place, so I don't know how secure it is in it's current state. Of course, we again run into the problem of "bring your own food". In a scenario where the complexities of cross-continental travel in a post apocalyptic world aren't factors, I would imagine Alcatraz would be quite ideal.
  17. I've used them in FOF training as well. The guns we were using were made by Glock, but were dedicated Sim guns (blue frame, black slide). We also had shells for our 14" 870's that allowed them to use .38 special sim rounds. Loads of fun.
  18. So, my female Old English Sheepdog woke me up from my post-work couch nap last night when she started pulling towels off the rack in the bathroom... It became apparent she was nesting... Long story short, after about 4hrs we had 6 pups on our hands! She handled the whole thing like a champ. Dogs rule. I just felt like I needed to share this here
  19. It's funny.. Now that I'm in the LIGHT game, I can't shake the thought of how a similar build with one of BCM's lightweight middy barrels would feel.
  20. Nice! The Adams Arms upper looks like a really well made product
  21. Cuffin' and stuffin', broseph Oh, and buying crap rifles ahhahaha On topic: I'll probably get it out this weekend and I'll give a range report on both the rifle and the MBUS rear I've got on it. To expand on my initial impressions of the rifle, I'm pretty impressed with the CavArms design. Yeah, you loose some modularity, and there's no adjustability to the length of pull, but this thing is solid as a SHTF rifle. Now, when I say "SHTF", I'm reffering to the more likely scenario of a large natural disaster (think Katrina, not post apocolyptic zombie horde attacks) where one may need to hoof it, and you'll be doing a hell of a lot more carrying the rifle than shooting it. This thing is... dammit I hate this term... a "KISS" rifle. ETA: I just weighed this rifle against my Alum. Lower AR on my digital kitchen scale. Each rifle had a standard USGI mag loaded to 28 rounds (I always load to 28... a wise man once told me this expotentially lowers the possibility of improper feeding) inserted in the mag well. Rifle 1: Midlength AR built on a Spike's lower with Ergo Grip, Magpul CTR, LMT BCG, YHM midlength free float quad rail, and Aimpoint CompM3 installed. Weighs in at: 9.456 Lbs Rifle 2: Sabre Defence Lightweigh Midlength you see above. Magpul MBUS rear installed. Weighs in at: 6.892 Lbs This is the first time I've ever sought out numbers for the weight difference, but I'll say two things: One, the Sabre, which is lacking a quad rail, feels much more balanced. Two, personally I think 2.564 Lbs is a significant difference for a rifle intended for the purpose mentioned above.
