Guys, we have a problem. I was doing some research and came actoss the following Tennessee Code: Tennessee Code/Title 70 Wildlife Resources/Chapter 4 Miscellaneous Regulations/Part 1 —Hunting and Fishing/70-4-117. Possession of weapons in areas inhabited by big game — Penalty. — 70-4-117. Possession of weapons in areas inhabited by big game — Penalty. — (a) It is unlawful for any person to be in possession of any firearm, bow and arrow, shotgun or rifle in, on, or while traversing any refuge, public hunting area or wildlife management area frequented or inhabited by big game, except during specified or lawful open seasons on these areas. Any person violating this section is guilty of hunting big game and shall be punished as provided for in subsections ( and ©. ( (1) A violation of this section is a Class B misdemeanor. (2) It is mandatory upon the court to impose the prison sentence, upon conviction for a second or subsequent offense, and the prison sentence is not subject to suspension. © In the prosecution of a second or subsequent offense, the indictment or presentment must allege the prior conviction for violating any of the provisions of this section, setting forth the time and place of each such prior conviction. The court shall prohibit such convicted person, either a first or subsequent offender, from hunting, fishing or trapping in this state for a period of one (1) year. Here is the map for the North Cherokee Area. So, except for a few areas it looks like we may not legally carry there, not because of Federal law or Tennessee gun code, but because of the Tennessee wildlife code. I'd love to be proven wrong. Help!!!

What I notice is that the posts that get labeled as "inappropriate content" generally just disagree with the moderators' viewpoints. They have some sacred cow groups that you aren't allowed to question without it being label "offensive." Some of the most sensible posts over there are labeled as offensive. And their rating system is just asinine. More of a buddy meter than a guide to who makes sense. I'd post more, but what for? Many members don't really want sensible advice, they just want to post to be seen. So mostly I check to see if someone mentions something I might have missed.

I think the P7M8 (PSP) is the best concealed carry handgun around. Too bad H&K decided to not re-tool to supply the NJ patrol. I know one undercover guy who carries one in an ankle holster. I wouldn't do that, but that's what he prefers.

I have a friend who is a LEO in North Carolina. If possible, he generally lets you go with a warning when he finds out you have a handgun permit. As I keep telling folks, a carry permit is basically a good citizenship certification. Why mess with a good citizen?

There was a bill before the legislature a couple of years ago that would have let the public shoot at LE ranges. LE didn't want the hassle just to make it nicer for the peons, so the bill went nowhere. I do see their point but I looked at it as a community service.

I've got it too. Wife had it before me. I'm running operations from my home phone and computer while I can barely sit up. I put together a file of TN weapons code that I keep on my desktop. Basically just saved all of "Tennessee Code/Title 39 Criminal Offenses/Chapter 17 Offenses Against Public Health, Safety and Welfare/Part 13 -Weapons" from LexisNexis. With a little hand formatting to avoid copyright problems, it could be easily posted. Virginia code is a PITA.

I personally agree Hyaloid. IMHO we need to be inclusive rather than exclusive. But it's not my board. I'm a member on a couple of LE only boards but pretty much never go to them. These boards are recreation for me. I talk shop in other ways.

The Virginia Civil Defense League has been working to get concealed carry permitted in the National Parks for several years. Their Senator Allen as, I think, the last legislation he submitted before their new senator took office was an act to permit carry in the Parks. Personally, I think the leader of the VCDL is a jerk and not nearly as politically astute as he thinks he is, but he was able to finally get an answer back from the NPS about carry in the Parks. NO!!!!! That was part of their problem. Then never had much inventory. I think they were more interested in their Internet business and let the gun stuff slide. All of the people who have tried running that location have priced their memberships well out of the range of students and a lot of other people. I had a membership for a year under the second owner, but got it in a trade of a laser for a G26 I no longer owned. I'd have gone for volume rather than high fees for a few people and built stock so people would come in to shoot and use that as a sales too to push the hardware. I suspect the electrical fire just speeded up the inevitable closing.

+1. Nice range. Closer for me to go to Jacobs Creek off of 421, but it's always muddy there.

Of the clubs in the area, Cherokee and Kettlefoot let you shoot pretty much when you want. Unaka has some problems and so the shooting days and hours are limited. I'd go for Cherokee. Point Blank has always had problems marketing themselves properly to stay open. It could be a great indoor range. I wonder if it will ever reopen under the current ownership.

We have four dogs (down from seven) that are all rescues. We've had everything from poodles to Australian shepherds. You don't want to get me started on the topic of "registered" dogs, the AKC and puppy mills.

As I recall, the original wording was for concealed carry, but was changed to allow both so some anti-gun Chief in Chattanooga or sheriff in Sullivan County wouldn't have people arrested for accidentally exposing their handgun. BTW, we kicked out that sheriff in the next election.

I think they have them with the de-cocker and re-cocker. Don't know about the hammer. Only reason I see to go with a P2000, if it has a hammer, is availability of a 357 SIG. That caliber is only available in the USP in compact.
