  1. That was the brilliant post I was talking about.
  2. Well, I'd certainly trust the politicians over the voters. Why don't we just eliminate juries selected impartially too. Let Naifeh appoint the juries.
  3. Anyone trying to pack my fanny won't be happy.
  4. But all of my brilliant comments are gone. And Rabbi's comments are gone too! Hey, there is a silver lining to every cloud.
  5. That's pretty much it, except that I wear seat belts all the time in the car. It's not legitimate for the government to force me to be smart. In fact I see it as evolution in action. If you are dumb enough to not wear the belts, I hope you die before you breed.
  6. You can also ship a rifle to yourself in another state (as for hunting) without going through a FFL. As far as I know, you can buy a rifle (not a handgun) in any state that borders Tennessee and bring it back home with you.
  7. It will all be explained in time.
  8. Boy, that could be interesting, but I don't know. A nut debating a dimwit?
  9. You consider jury duty to be involuntary servitude........... Your screen name is well chosen.
  10. Very nice. I hadn't see it before. Unfortunately, the people who need to read it won't do so.

I used to keep a roll of half dollars in the car when I lived in Raleigh, because that's how much a beer cost in the local taverns. Of course that was in the mid 70s.... Ah, the good ole days.
  12. Actually, the reactor vessel was trucked in the final few miles to the Phipps Bend site. I guess that Cherokee Dam got in he way. That ring you see is the beginning of a cooling tower. The area is now an industrial park. As I read the U.S.C., if you were ever able to commercially navigate the waterbody then it is forever considered navigable, even if it no longer can be used for shipping.
  13. That might come up on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.

World's Fair in Knoxville was in 1982. I had a season pass. I'd go by TVA and talk to the nuclear engineering guys, then walk down to the Fair and get lunch. I also have a bunch of souvenirs. Make me an offer.
  15. Boy, you wouldn't have gotten that response here.
  16. Good video. Had to watch it in IE. Firefox wouldn't run it. This one is also good information regarding searches. [ame] [/ame]
  17. The SVEA stove is a fantastic gadget. Basically a small blowtorch with the flame pointing upward. It gets very hot on gasoline and is self pressurizing. Mark told me they quit making them, then someone started making them again but the quality wasn't as good. Apparently they quit again. That's a shame It would boil a quart of water in no time. Much better than those butane things.

Any of you ever try Schmitz Beer? It was good but inexpensive beer out of Philly. Playboy magazine used to do a blind beer tasting every year and Schmitz normally won. I always bought Playboy for the articles. Unfortunately, Schmitz is no more. I think I still have a can (empty) of Schmitz from 1976 - "The Beer for the Bicentennial."
  19. Sigg-Tourist cook set for a SVEA 123 backpacking stove.

I've wondered how that stuff is. I used to drink Old Milwaukee many years ago. First beer I ever had was when I was underage across the state line in Virginia. At The Flamingo Club (better know locally as "The Bird." I got a PBR. About half way through, I excused myself, went in the bathroom and threw up. Then went back out and finished it with my friends.

If I'm paying $1.42 for a beer, I expect a free table dance with it.
  22. You have little idea how much I enjoy religion arguments. I'm so glad we have a policy here at TGO that allows them....
  23. Both of those races turned out well, both in results and just being interesting. It was a good race watching day. Michael Waltrip was mentioned a couple of times, but DW didn't do his standard Mikey stuff. I think someone must have told him to drop that. Next weekend is FOX's last race for the season

Follow-up. Actually, I kinda like it. At $19.00 (call it $20 with tax) for 5 liters, it ain't cheap. But it does give a good impersonation of draft beer and is fun. I'll probably pick up one for special occasions. I did find that the glass it was served in made a big difference in the taste. The best was an 8 ounce pilsner that I probably stole from a bar, since it says Coors on it. Next best was my g-g-grandfather's 12 ounce pilsner, I think the wiser mouth let too much of the aroma (bouquet?) escape. The worst was a 14 ounce beer mug. There is still plenty left for when I finish mowing today.
  25. Nah, security took the tire away. You can buy a T-shirt of it later today at http://dwstore.com/.
