None have plastic rails, although it apparently (?) looks that way on the Kahr? I don't have a Kahr. I won't have one with the Moonie connection. Approved list: Bunch of folks including Ruger - Since Bill is fortunately dead S&W - Since they were sold to an Arizona group Un-approved list: Kahr - Because they are Moonie controlled Auto-Ordnance - Ditto Bushmaster - Since they settled the DC sniper suit instead of fighting it - Screw 'em

What Would You Do During a Mall Shooting?
Marswolf replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
First decent Chiles Rellenos I had were in S. Cali with some friends many years ago. Second decent ones were at El Refugio in La Zona Rosa in Mexico City (they were better). I'm not heavily into Tex-Mex. I appreciate subtlety. My schedule is always day-by-day - sometimes minute by minute. How about coffee at Bristol Mall on Wednesday? About 9:30? It might give you an opportunity to display your blazing into the action style while the rest of us escape. -
Hey Tower, since you announced that you are in Vegas, check this out: NO, NOT THAT (Ignore this Julie) but The Gun Store on Tropicana that rents full autos.

God...you are that close? I better move. Have you tried the new Mexican place in Blountville? Pretty good for everything except authentic Chiles Rellenos. Only two places around here that do decent Chiles Rellenos are the place in Rogersville or the Mexican restaurant in Bristol on the parkway that used to be the Bonfire. Something about guns....? I don't know but it has been rumored that I have been known to carry guns into the local beer serving Mexican restaurants. Another rumor is that I actually had a friendly discussion about that in the Blountville place with a law enforcement office you probably have heard of - who shall remain nameless. Maybe we can get together before Tower comes in. Actually, we should plan to meet at Bristol Mall for coffee some morning. I'll introduce you to some of my Korean and VN war friends. I'm expecting to get up there tomorrow. -
I think it kinda' depends on the business you are in and how you treat people. If anyone should pack at home it would probably be me. I do everywhere else. You can see inside my home office from the ridge top. Of course, a sniper could easily pick me off. I've just never been paranoid. Have a listed phone number. Don't make a big secret of who I am or where I live. One military friend in the Philippines was shocked when he found he could get my phone number online. Right now the doors are not just unlocked, but open (over 70 degrees). The Jehovah's Witnesses have learned to not mess with me. But the dogs are vigilant (they are asleep by my computer), the doves will fly if anyone comes up, and I have sufficient firepower within two feet. I'm a nice guy unless there is a reason for me to not be. I'm also a bit fatalistic. I'm going to die eventually. Why ruin now for might happen someday?

I knew this sounded familiar. I went over this on another board some time ago. http://www.kahr.com/PA-1B/review_cch2006.html In short, it should be like the Glock or USP (although the USP rails are much heftier than the other guns). But there really shouldn't be plastic shavings.

Also Auto-Ordnance Corporation (Thompson submachine-type guns).

That's probably true then.

Please post a link when it becomes available.

I sometimes don't take my carry gun off when I come in from somewhere, and I will generally carry it if I go somewhere on the property. Never can tell what kind of varmints you might find. I don't as a general rule carry it in the house, but a gun is never too far away. I have three excellent alarm systems that works 24 hours a day to tell me if anything dangerous is around. And all three work for dog food.

Better than cheaper nothing. At least the shooter has to guess where you are behind it. -

Hell, I didn't know that either. Someday I'll have to look at the vBulletin docs. -
Plastic shavings????

OK, you bring the steaks. I'll help hold them off while you grill. I'll bring the beer. I'd hate to die sober.

In a lot of cases it is possible to hide yourself. Unfortunately, if you don't have a gun, the BG just comes and hunts you down and you just die later. It is so important that people be able to protect themselves and not just hope that others will protect them. -
All I can tell you is that my 92SB has thousands of rounds through it and is just fine. I think there was also a steel quality issue in the early 92Fs as I recall.

We probably should move this to PM before Eddie merges us with a food topic. But I'd love to have lunch with you guys. Let's go somewhere expensive since Tower is paying. Hell, since Tower is paying let's invite everyone.... No, just kidding. Jaypee what area do you live in? I'm almost in downtown Blountville and Tower lives off John B. Dennis bypass north of Stone Drive. I shall not be more specific. That Mexican restaurant in Rogersville is excellent, but about an hour drive from where I live. I think what they have in mind is opening the emergency exit and then getting the hell out of the way by exiting the plane. -
What do you know about the M18A1?
Marswolf replied to a topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Tower, that pretty well sums up the M18A1. As you mention, the angle of dispersion is about 60 degrees. I worked on increasing that angle for a project we did with a controlled minefield in Vietnam. By replacing the C4 in the center of the Claymore with another explosive with a higher temperature/pressure curve, we were able to expand the angle to around 100 degrees in a standard shell. Of course that meant less projectile density. It was a special project and didn't turn out too work well. Next time we have lunch, ask me to tell you what the back blast from a Claymore can do. -
Absolutely true. I find it helps to have someone watch you while you shoot. Sometimes they see something you are doing that can be corrected. Maybe you finger is at the wrong place on the trigger. Sometimes you aren't holding the handgun firmly enough - or too firmly. Maybe you would do better with a different stance. In the old days, lots of kids shot all the time and developed a natural ability to shoot. These days you may have to drive an hour just to find a place where you can shoot. It's a shame you have to practice rather than just go shoot for fun.

Hate to burst anyone's bubble but Bob Keeshan (Captain Kangaroo) did join the Marines but didn't see action in WWII. http://www.snopes.com/military/marvin.asp Urban legend, but with some truth. Marvin was wounded at Saipan but just got a purple heart. He is buried at Arlington.

I'm not surprised that you like it.

Uh...no.........

There are "field expedient" suppressed 22s also. Just a matter of your desire for propriety versus legality.

Wha me? My favorite uncle was paying the ammo bill. The P90 is a very good SMG. Fun and effective. I had a Five-seveN for a while. It was very usable. For my use, it just wasn't what I needed. I still have some some very "interesting" ammo.

Not a big deal. He was 4F for his feet. Not his fault, I guess.... He's still a good patriotic actor. I shouldn't have mentioned it. He was a good American. BTW, I was underweight and couldn't be drafted. I volunteered. You could volunteer when you weren't draftable. Just thought I'd mention that. I just get a bit irritated about Wayne and Roy Rogers who got a big boost in their careers compared to people like Autry who did go. But my Biggie is James Stewart, who was a true hero and never really got the recognition he deserved. When he died, my wife said she no longer had a favorite actor. That hit me and I have to agree with her. The rest are just pretenders.
