  1. I don't sweat changes. I jut absorb them over time.
  2. People want a small handgun that has good penetration but is light and without a lot of recoil. I don't know of any handguns that do that. Compensation helps, but has its problems in some situations. The Kel-Tec P3AT is "snappy" as is the PF-9. It's a matter of physics. Low mass leads to snappiness. You have to make a trade-off of concealibility vs recoil. Note that really good handguns are available that combine control with concealibility. The H&K P7M8 is one such weapon. Want to spend way more than a grand of a handgun? Well, I did, but I'm kinda a perfectionist. If the PF-9 had been around when I was looking, I might would have gone for it. I certainly would have seriously considered it. My thoughts are that the PF-9 is an IWB weapon, while the P11 is more of a side carry handgun.
  3. You must have a good copying machine.
  4. A bill was introduced several years ago to eliminate the $10 charge for handgun permit holders. The state estimated that it would cost them about $250,000 a year to do that, and the matter died a quick death.
  5. The NY trigger modification I think is a good idea. Typical trigger pressure in adrenalin rush situations is reportedly well in excess of 50 pounds. http://www.glock.com/english/options_triggerspring.htm
  6. I was a cereal killer too. I liked killing Cheerios. I don't think I ever missed, but I often just went through the hole in the middle.
  7. I shouldn't have read that. Gives me too many good ideas....
  8. I'm not normally a big fan of magazine disconnects, but in this case it might be a good feature.
  9. I thought that was only on some models. I don't know for sure. But as I recall, you have to move the slide back to get to the lever. But also as I recall, you can field strip the gun by dry firing and not using the lever. Am I wrong? I suspect most people will just do the latter. It seems to me that they do have a combination with the lever and also a magazine lockout that prevents firing with the magazine out of the handgun. I would think that would solve the problem as long as you don't just guess that the magazine and chamber are empty and fire.
  10. Nope, wasn't me. I just found this topic. I voted "an excellent concept, but with a few design flaws." I pretty much go along with Eddie in http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showpost.php?p=67711&postcount=21 I've always said they are an adequate duty handgun. They got some things right in my opinion in having a gun with very reliable feed and extraction and not having a manual safety to be concerned with. The flaws have been covered pretty well on other boards, notably at http://www.thegunzone.com/glock/gindex2.html. A better supported chamber, particularly in the 40 S&W and a heavier trigger would pretty much fix it. Some people would add better ergonomics. But with a heavier trigger pull and shooting only quality factory ammunition, they do OK. I still see other handguns as better for carry, either professional LE carry or public self-protection carry. But those other guns generally cost a bit more. Some of the problems have been addressed by the XD and M&P series of pistols. But all striker pistols I can think of have the issue of having to dry fire before takedown. The NDs seem to mostly happen during field stripping. It's too easy to get sloppy mentally and forget to clear the chamber before pulling the trigger. I saw that happen once with an XD. Fortunately the handgun was pointed in a safe direction. And the guy who made the ND was a seasoned professional who had carried for years.I suspect that problem could be fixed and I'm a bit disappointed that the M&P series didn't correct this. Gaston Glock took a questionable polymer design by H&K, made improvements and produced a usable handgun. In my view, it isn't a horrible gun by any means, but it also isn't a great gun. It's adequate and with a little work is "safe enough." But from what I've seen, other guns in the market are just as reliable and are safer. I think that makes them a better gun.

    92fs range report

Good grief, it wasn't a slam against you. It was meant as a comment of respect for the Korean Vets I know.

    92fs range report

FWIW, If they called it a "clip", it's a clip. I certainly am not going to "correct" them. I have far more respect than to do that. I'm an old guy, but not too old to show respect.
  13. Hey Tim, what do you hear from TFA in terms of their efforts?
  14. I might go for that.
  15. I like Hi-Points. But they are pretty clunky. Just don't clean them and they are fine.

    92fs range report

Let me tell you something. Of all - ALL - of the guys I Know who fought in Korea (and that I frequently have coffee with), , they all call it a "clip". Every one of them call it a clip. Every one! If it's good enough for them, It's good enough for me. They fought with "clips". I'm very cool with that.

    92fs range report

I still carry the 92 SB in the field. Absolutely reliable and with the range needed for more than just urban use.
  18. I do. Decocked is normal situation for the USP, but if I anticipate possible trouble, I reach down and cock it.
  19. I remember when there was controversy because Gulf Oil had a sign in the Astrodome. These days you cant watch a game without green-screen ads behind the batter if you watch on TV. I also went to a race at Charlotte long before it became Lowe's Motor Speedway. Lowes thought they would get free TV exposure, but one of the networks televising a race refused to use the name of the track until Lowe's bought advertizing time. I'm just waiting until Neyland Stadium becomes Viagra UT Stadium.
  20. I didn't vote because there wasn't an option for unlocked cocked and ready to rock
  21. Yeah, that was a nice friendly thread, without so much mod bashing.
  22. I agree. I carry my USP 40 OWB in a Hume without a thumb break. It's not too loose. If I was chasing down BG's I'd want something more secure. BTW, my P7M8 goes IWB in a Hume. Over the years, I've just migrated toward their holsters.
  23. No, she is a lot smarter than that.
  24. I'm about to have an ex, but she ain't a bitch. She's just a very nice lady who has reality problems.
  25. I normally don't care for ankle carry, but for motor cycle carry, that make a lot of sense.
