  1. With very few exceptions, I carry mine in a Don Hume back pocket holster. On a few occasions, it goes into a Hume IWB holster and on very rare occasions (like the beach) into a Thunderwear holster. If I carry except for a BUG or casual carry, I go to a heftier caliber.
  2. I always looked younger than I was too. Lately, I still do, but the other guys my age and younger look awful. Reality is a bitch.
  3. Hi-Point's problem is take-down and re-assembly. Not to mention clunkiness. But you can't beat the engineering design and execution on the SIGs and H&Ks. If you want well thought out and executed designs, you have to pay for them.
  4. I came along long before soccer took off. Tried it very briefly but is isn't physical enough to interest me. I think I can easily say that after your sperm starts swimming - Soccer Sucks. I have no idea why it is popular. Oh yes I do, the French like it. Rugby looks like exactly what I would love to play - but not watch. I agree that football commercial breaks suck - especially if you are at the game. Yawn. The reality is that if you want to have TV money, you have to have TV breaks. Welcome to the real world. Right now we are in a rain delay in the California NASCAR race. Life sucks? Give them grooved tires and see what happens!!!!!!
  5. Explain the wisdom of that reasoning to Gore. And the wisdom that Wall street "speculators" - like you and me? - are leaches. He has made a career of being P. T. Barnum.
  6. You should have played with me on my city winning tackle team in Raleigh, in the mid-70s - when I invited the Fort Bragg team to come up and play us after we won the championship. After I got off of my crutches, I felt good about doing that. Pain is good for you. I'll tell the current Bragg guys they play sissified sports, according to you. Some of them also play lacrosse and come through occasionally and we do a skrimage in a neighbor's field. Some old guys still get respect especially if they are still training folks in the field. Now what's your address again? Never mnd, they will find you. BTW, I have a friend in Australia who is Federal Police / military. He would probably agree with you. But these days we are more into beer and naked women. Actually, I'd love to have a try at Rugby. My Oz buddy has promised to get me into a scrum when I get down there. Hope my walker holds up.
  7. Damn, we need to do something about all these young good-looking farts.
  8. No thanks. I'll just fight it out in the field.
  9. Yeah, it was pointed out to Nader that he is even older than McCain. At least people give McCain at least the potential to get it on with women lobbyists. Can anyone imagine a woman propositioning Nader - even for a job? I mean this guy makes Marx look like a Conservative. BTW, it was later shown that he was wrong about the Corvair too.
  10. Yeah, they finally perfected it.
  11. I'm not sure it is entirely fair to blame the XD for a problem you think you caused by increasing spring strength and repeated dry firing. There are a number of guns out there that break the firing pins when you dry fire them. I've never heard of that happening with an XD. But I do agree that a better design would be preferred. Still, I no longer have an XD. I used it for a car gun for some time, but became uncomfortable with having it always cocked and perhaps a bit too easy to fire. DAO or SA/DA with a de-cocker works well for that application. For protective carry, I like either SA/DA with de-cocker or good DAO. I much prefer the former, but settled for the second option for a bug/casual carry.
  12. I kinda like revolvers for the woods. I've carried a couple of Glocks and I understand firsthand the problems with them. If that's what you want to carry, then go for it. But I hope my comments will keep other people from choosing a gun because so many people are foolishly thrilled with a good, but flawed, handgun. If you can't understand that Glocks have problems, and what those problems are, it isn't because I haven explained - had to explain them - repeatedly. I want to shut up about Glocks and their problems, but I cant do that as long as the myopic insist that they are the best thing since...oranges. I can think of applications where they are adequate or very good, but I can think of no application where they are the best.
  13. Oh, I thought sports season was over. They don't play real ball again until the fall, do they?
  14. Well, Nader has decided to run for President - again. And he says he isn't the reason why Gore lost Florida in 2000. He opposes our "illegal war in Iraq" and Wall street speculators. I was expecting to hear him cry out, "Workers of the world unite!" Total flake.
  15. I didn't think you could get those in the US.
  16. I've never gotten my panties in a wad either.
  17. I caught one of the old Kojak shows the other day. Someone got gunned down with a .32 revolver!
  18. Has Sarge tried the Guinness Draught in the can? The one with the widget. Good stuff!
  19. Yeah, and I know how to arrogantly ignore it.
  20. I hope they are enjoying the justified ridicule.
  21. And I'm getting tired of hearing that legitimate criticism of Glock's design is "bashing." And I do point out problems with other handguns too. I also give Glock credit for being a reliable gun and proper for some applications. I let most Glock comments pass except when someone jumps in and explains to everyone just how wonderful Glocks obviously are, to the apparent exclusion of any other trash guns like SIGs, H&Ks, Berettas, etc. I've never said the public shouldn't be allowed to buy a Glock. I have said there are better choices for public carry and I've explained why.
  22. Not so fast. In Tennessee, state parks are posted. So there will be nothing to prevent the Great Smoky Mountains NP from posting and still preventing carry on the Tennessee side. I think that will be true on the North Carolina side too. What we need is a simple rule permitting carry in national parks that mimics carry laws in the state - not the state parks. That's the way the national forest regulations read. I think someone got snookered .
  23. That comes from situational awareness and having gone through in your mind exactly what you will do if that guy coming toward you does something with a gun, knife, fist - whatever. The problem is when things start happening, it is pretty much impossible to keep a cool head. Even with a world of experience and training, odd things happen to you when you come under attack. That's why I assume that I'm going to do dumb things when that happens. I want my handgun always ready to fire with just a trigger pull. That means a gun that doesn't have to be racked to get a round into the chamber. It means no manual safety on that I have to remove. Also for general carry, no thumb break or other retention device on the holster. Nothing to retard just drawing and firing as quickly as possible.
  24. I totally agree. Maybe that living document isn't so bad????
  25. Probably enough to insure you get shot first....
