I guess the real question becomes do you have to lock back the slide to rotate the takedown lever. Looks to me like you do. If you do, there is no reason to pull the trigger before racking the slide. People get into patterns that they don't think about that much. Rack the slide - pull the trigger - pull the slide back slightly with the right (or left) hand - and push down the slide release thingy. Mindlessly mess up the order of the first two and it goes boom. That's why it happens with experienced users who have done it hundreds of times.

I have a pair of Wolverines I started hiking in in 1967. They are still good to go and comfortable. I have a problem with Blackhawk. A lot of their stuff in made in Vietnam and other Asian countries. And I think it is a favorite of the mall ninjas.

Lots of guns, particularly older design guns and small lower pressured round guns, like the P3AT, have a partially supported chamber. With the surface area of the unsupported section and generally less pressure in older rounds, you easily got by with it, even with pretty hot reloads. I have shot some extreme overpressure rounds in my 9mm Beretta 92SB. It was unpleasant but everything held together. With the development of the 40 S&W, the pressures went up and the unsupported surface area tended to increase with round circumference. The Glock 40s were originally designed as a 9mm and then modified. Compare this to the H&K USP and M&Ps that were basically designed as a 40 and then modified to handle the weaker and smaller 9mm. What was a reasonable design for 9mm is pushing it a bit for 40 S&W. Other manufacturers came up with other ways to ensure feed reliability. Glock, as noted, did modify the ramp a bit sacrificing feed reliability a bit for some safety benefits. They recognized the problem. I've shot some rather hot rounds in the USP 40 without worry. The round is almost completely supported. That is one reason why I traded in my G23 for a USP 40. Other matters like the ability to de-cock and re-cock SA/DA capability plus some other internal differences make up the other reasons. Is the chamber support on a Glock a design flaw? Well, my background is engineering and I don't think it is a major problem on 9mm and 45 ACP. But I do have a problem with it in the 40s. I haven't examined the 357 SIG, so I can't say about it. Glock says to not use reloads. But H&K says that too. That's very good advice for the Glocks unless you are a careful reloader. But if you do that, Glocks will stay together and feed well. But so will USPs, XDs, SIGs and M&Ps among others with less worry. You can blow them up, but you have to be awfully careless or foolish to do so.

I had forgotten about that stuff. Yes, I have tried it and the flavor was just like snow cream. Much of the snow has melted here, but I put a bowl of snow in the freezer and can have a couple of days of snow memories from my childhood. Building snowmen, sledding, playing with the mastodons and dinosaurs.

I'll be very interested in a field report comparing the two.

Thanks GLOCKGUY for the photo. Some are a bit confusing because it is hard to pick out unsupported areas from reflections in the feed ramp. Here are a few more pictures of the feed ramps. G22 M&P 40 Glock feed ramp blowout. A few blowouts and bulges.

Yeah, they require Prilosec, Pepsid and Tums. And you get bathroom reminders the next day. But they are soooooo good. I got hooked on them in college. Of course, they were only 12 cents back then. Always had to run to the Krystal about sun up after the all night card game. I added some good greasy fries and lots of salt to keep both my cholesterol and blood pressure high. Add a couple of beers and you get a great nutritionally balanced meal.

I was in Nashville some years ago when they got 5" of snow. Restaurants shut down. I had a Mercury Montego and had a ball running all over town with the streets all but deserted. We have sunshine right now but it looks like more stuff coming in from Kentucky. The snow ice cream was good. Haven't tried the beer yet, but the Krystals will need something to help hide their flavor.

It's continuously snowing here, but just barely. We occasionally get clusters of flakes as large as golf balls. Goodness, gracious - great balls of snow.... I found I have a couple of Krystals (gut-busters) in the freezer, so the TV dinners are safe through lunch. I have some potatoes that need to be turned into freedom fries. Figured out a use for the milk. I haven't had snow ice cream for years. Time to revisit an old pleasant memory. I wonder if it goes well with beer?

Interesting. I did just do a quick Google search for M&P KaBooms but came up empty.

I didn't know we allowed such language on this board. Not me. I've sold all of my Kydex stuff to my "friends." -
Notice how little recoil affected the copter.

Woke up to about an inch of snow this morning. They think we'll have snow showers all day. I'm staying in and enjoying it. Of course schools are out and I'm sure the stores are already out of milk. Personally I have milk, TV dinners and beer. All that's needed to sustain life - if you leave off the milk. Now time for an old fart story. I grew up in Kingsport. During my 12 years in school there, we missed one day of school due to snow. The city contracted with a private company to run buses. The company put on chains and ran. These days, if a snow flake might fall within a hundred miles, they close the schools. It's for the children.

We had a topic several months ago when I checked on the G23 chamber size and I found out that they had improved it. But in the M&P, the chamber has just about full support for the cartridge. I think I posted some pictures. Now, I may be wrong, but I think the M&P is made either with or without the takedown latch. I may be completely incorrect on that. I'd like to see Tungsten or other current or former M&P owners chime in. I know that when I looked at some M&Ps, I didn't see that latch. May have just been looking in the wrong place.

Tennessee and N.I.C.S. background check

Apparently, every penny counts. -
Jackdog, I really appreciate your input. Sometimes we agree and sometimes we don't, but I think you evaluate the posts you reply too, as do I. I think there are are a lot of people who buy Glocks because "that's what the cops use." I think that is their primary reason to buy them. We see that admitted frequently. I have to admit that I bought two Glocks because they were recommended by LE friends. It's not an admission of foolishness. It's more a matter of trusting people who were focused on what they carried. In time, I came to view it as people who were unable to differentiate between hype and reality. I don't think Glocks suck. I think they are weapons for a very limited use. Real people who use guns for self-protection have to choose from weapons that they, first of all, can afford and then ones that can do the required job. Sometimes that is a H&K and sometimes that is a Hi-Point. Sometimes it is a Glock. But IMHO, seldom is Glock the best choice,

Looks just like a 1'st gen Kel-Tec rip-off to me.

Tennessee and N.I.C.S. background check

What you and I think isn't very important to the great state of Tennessee. You have to show them $$$$$$$. Extraction of money from your wallet is the driving force of the Legislature. -
Well, anything will work for a toy. Glocks have lot of modifications and add-ons. I had a pretty tricked-out G23 at one time. The only compensated handgun I've ever had and that worked as advertised was a Taurus 44 magnum revolver. R-44 I think. Not one of the Bull-crap models. Fine handgun. The recoil thingies don't seem to do much but drain your wallet. If the handgun needed a recoil thingy, Glock would add it. Personally, I find the Gunblast guy a bit weird.. Maybe the magnetic thingy it will help your arthritis? I think the extended magazines look - shall we say, "unprofessional" (stupid). But that's just my opinion. I once met a local constable who tried to impress me with one. He tried - I wasn't. Take your time and research, research, research. There are lots of P. T. Barnum's out there ready to take your money - especially from Glock owners.

You don't need a big box. Just keep selling the refuse to your "friends." -
Either one will work fine. Wideners is local to me. You can expect re-supply whenever Hell freezes over or they get around to ordering more. I think the guy running it these days is an old canoe buddy. Gotta check that out some day....

I always end up recommending Hume. A quality product that isn't a ridiculous price. I use Hume for civilian use and Bianchi for military type stuff. http://www.donhume.com/ -
I have to say that the NFA forum is a very good idea.
