  1.  BTW I know I can look up the size specs but looking for more of a real life "gotta buy pants 1 size bigger to IWB a Shield and 2 sizes bigger with a G26" and that sort of practical comparison. I know opinions will vary from person to person but just trying to get a feel for it so I know what to expect.
  2.   Cash is the only thing I deal in unless it's an online transaction but I try to do as much of my shopping local as I can. Thanks for the heads up! I have enough shooting/carrying friends local that I should be able to get my hands on each of them for her to try out. How does the G26 compare size wise to the XDs and Shield? I assume since it is a staggered stack it will be wider but not sure how much.
  3.  Okay, My wife finally brought up wanting to take her carry permit class which I am tickled about. I brought it up a handful of times over the last couple years but decided that i'd leave it be and let her bring it up on her own time. figured if I had to pressure her into it that she likely didn't need to do it right then. She's gotten a bit more comfortable with her shooting over the past year though and with a bit more range time I feel good about her carrying. I want to get her a sub compact carry gun in the Shield/XDs size range chambered in 9mm. I don't want anything any smaller like the Keltec and Ruger .380's due to their remarkably awful trigger pull weight and length because she really struggles with the triggers like that. She does not enjoy shooting them and it takes to much of her strength to pull the triggers so by the time the trigger breaks, she is no longer as accurate as she wants to be. I don't want anything bigger because i'm pretty sure that she would just end up leaving it at home or in her car. I'd like to try to get these two in her hands and would really like for her to be able to put a few rounds through them so that she can choose what fits her hands best so i'm going to have to run through buddies until I find one of each for her to demo. I also haven't ruled out a G26 but have  it in 3rd place because it is a bit bigger than the other two (I think it is anyways, I have no experience with the G26 so chime in if i'm wrong or you have something to add).   My big question is (because of laziness on my part) what would one expect to pay for a used G26 in 9mm? I know that PSA has Shield 9mm's for like $359 which seems cheaper than most are asking for their used ones so I would likely buy new if she wanted the Shield. I haven't been keeping up with it but how long has the XDs 9mm been out? any chance of finding a used one at enough of a discount to be worth not buying new?
  4. Doesn't really matter though, everything is calmed down and probably best left that way.
  5.    I also wondered the same thing! I've not noticed one under DaveS's pic in a long time unless I missed it.
  6. Jay, I understand what you're saying. My point was that I feel like there better ways to get your point across. I saw the part of your post stating the law and got the point but to be completely honest when I saw the rest and how it kept going in a less than tactful manner it made me doubt you so I went and looked it up myself. I guess I just hate to see TGO members goin at each other. Just my opinion though and it is just that.
  7. Not a thing wrong with either side and I apologize if I came of abrupt, I didn't mean it that way. As a matter of fact I'm not working on a "retirement" armory per say I decided as I started getting deeper into hobby and defense shooting as well as reloading that I would concentrate on a few general areas, CQB and long range rifles and pistols. Within that I only buy rifles and pistols in calibers that I can load ammo cheaply for and find supplies for it easily. I've got about 3 more guns to buy or build that fit in what I consider my SHTF necessity list. After that I I will let myself start consider "for the fun of it" guns. It hellps that I've got a friend that owns a Kriss, Tavor etc. that I can go grab whenever I want.
  8. Someone must have put out one of those anti bama trace mineral blocks earlier this year to produce such a wonderful rack!
  9.  First off this thread had nothing to do with DaveS's history or current status and i'm not sure why this turned into a dog pile.?. Sure DaveS expressed his OPINION as did many others and i'm not gonna lie, I don't hold all the same opinions as DaveS but that doesn't mean he doesn't have the right to hold or share those opinions. This is a forum and if opinions weren't allowed there would be only the rules thread to read. We all can't agree all the time but I sure think we should have some respect for one another, we are all on here for the same reason right? Firearms and general conversation with "like minded individuals". Of course all this is just my OPINION and it may be worth no more than you've paid for it.    As for the topic at hand, I have a family full of past and present military, law enforcement and Wildlife law enforcement men and was from from a young child to respect men and women in those positions (and everyone else for that matter). I was also taught right and wrong as well as to demand that those that I show respect do return the favor. The first "officer" was a douche canoe and right from the onset showed no respect for anyone involved and in my opinion there is no place for folks like him in any authoritative position. The Police Chief that showed up in the second video, while I didn't agree 100% with every details he spoke, was VERY respectful which earned him the respect of the first "officers" "subjects". I'm almost positive that everyone in the group didn't agree with every word that came out of the Chief's mouth but they showed him respect. not because of the badge but because he showed them respect right from the rip. I've said this here before but, when I'm pulled over or confronted by an officer I give them the benefit of the doubt that they are going to be a decent respectable people and even if i'm not legally obligated to produce an ID, if someone made a call and me showing my ID will make life easier on the officer who showed me respect then I will hand it over every time. Now if I have a feeling that the officer is being disrespectful and going on a fishing expedition, i'm going to make things as hard on him as I possibly can up to and including making a phone call that goes over his head.    When in doubt,  "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you" Matthew 7:12 This I've found to be a good way to start any interaction and I discovered this after years of doing otherwise.
  10. I'd lean on a suppressed AR in 300AAC if you load your own or .223 if you don't. Or maybe a suppressed Kriss carbine... or maybe a suppressed Tavor... Awe heck i'm not helping now am I? In all seriousness I would be happy with any of these. I've run an unsuppressed Tavor and from what little I shot it, I liked it pretty well. A friend just bought one so i'm sure I'll get some more time in behind one soon. Good luck with your decision making!
  11. Like the other two I can't offer anything on the suppressor side but I bought a complete AR from them and all workmanship is top notch, no machining marks and fit and finish are great! I didn't know they offered suppressors.
  12. Welcome aboard.
  13.   I've got some nice stainless counter overlay if you want something slick that cleans easy. I guess one would want to make sure to ground it to eliminate the the risk of static though. We have a large laundry/utility/reloading room that has turned mostly into reloading but I think laying stainless over the countertops in there would be pushing my luck. As soon as I get the security system set up in the barn/shop I will likely be moving my reloading set up there along with mechanic and machining items. I'll use some of the counter top in there but i've got a bit to spare if you need something like that to lay over the wood.
  14.    Well my dog doesn't like her house and it's just goin to waste so you're welcome to it . But in all seriousness, We've got a spare room you can use if you change your mind and need a place to hide out... Only catch is that you can't mention what I spent today or we'll be flipping a coin for that spare room!
  15.    Did you ever call them to see which of your backorders were expected when?
  16.    My funds said no as well! but Mike pointed out that Midway wouldn't charge until the barrel was ready to ship so I went ahead and placed the order and i'll get money moved around tomorrow.. I probably just need to keep this purchase under my hat for a little bit until I have the time to get an incredible Christmas present picked out for the Mrs. so that I can change the subject when the questioning starts. I started out thinking that I wouldn't even start buying anything until after the first of the year but I got worried that our cowardly liar in chief and his band of merry idiots would do something stupid and cause another frenzy. I decided that I would try to at least gather the Grendel specific parts, brass and bullets since they are tougher to find as it is. I figure, no mater what I will be able to get a stock, glass handguard, etc, etc... Only problem now is that i've about talked myself into completing the upper so that I can at least shoot it some but after today I will probably have to back off for a while especially with Christmas coming up.
  17. Well I tip toed into the shallow end of the 6.5 Grendel pool the other day and ordered a set of dies. They came in today and it felt good so before I could stop myself (peer pressure from Mike didn't hurt none) I had order brass, bullets and the barrel/bolt combo. Midway confirmation email says the brass and bullets should be here Monday but the barrel is ? With a gas block, hand guard and bolt carrier my upper will be complete and I supposed at that point if I'm chompin at the bit I could mate it to one of my completed lowers and hit the range for break in. Unless I happen upon a smokin deal I'm gonna hold off til last thing to buy glass and see what my gun funds look like. If they look poor then I may buy a mueller for a couple hundred to get me by since I've got a .243 that I can move it to when I get the one I want. Well that's my daily firearms news in a nutshell. Anyone else moved forward any more in the last day or two?
  18. I've also had a few companies send a prepaid return label with the replacement but it was always mentioned before hand. There may very well be a label in the package when it arrives but I was just impressed that they either aren't expecting it back or aren't asking for it back. I was afraid that in order to get a new case, I would have to send this one back and be without my case until they received it and sent out a replacement. I guess so many companies worry more about protecting themselves from the few trying to get one over on them than they do about taking care of the rest of us. I don't know whether that shows the lack of integrity out there on the part of the consumer or level of poor business practices or a combination of the two. Drago has created a repeat customer in me.
  19. Mine is the same color even. I haven't received the new one yet but I didn't buy direct from them so they have no way to bill me and they did not make any mention of returning it. Regardless of whether or not they have any way to bill me, if they ask for the old one to be returned it will be returned but I figure they know it had a defect so why pay even more money to have a defective case returned. We shall see hopefully in a few days.
  20. I'm not sure one buys a Kriss to replace a pistol. I personally would buy one because I wanted a pistol caliber carbine and a Kriss is top tier when it comes to that. You are correct about the number of parts but they are assembled in a fairly reliable manner IMO. From my experience with one, I wouldn't have a problem having one that had been broken in, leaning in the corner by my bed but I would likely look elsewhere if I were over in the sandbox being shot at.
  21.  A little while back I picked up a 36" Drago 2 rifle case. The case is made of quality materials it seems and i've been happy with it with the exception of one thing. The case came with backpack straps which I find handy and a lot of time saves a trip to the truck since both hands are free but the first time I had the case out I heard a tearing sound but upon inspection couldn't figure out where it came from. The 2nd time out I heard the sound again and dropped the bag to inspect it again and found that the fabric that the D-ring is attached to was tearing away from the case a bit. There were several rows of stitching so I went on and forgot about it until it's 3rd trip to the range when it almost completely tore off. Now there was about 1/3 of the last row of stitching left so I decided to write the folks at Drago. I basically told them that I loved the case along with what I have outlined here and finished off by saying that if they would provide me with an email address, I would be happy to send pictures of the problem. The next day I received and email asking for a picture which I sent right out to them and the following morning I had a reply. They apologized for the trouble and asked for my mailing address so that they could get a new one on the way. I sent them the address this morning and got to thinking, they never asked for the original to be returned so barring some special return instructions with the new case I am left with both cases.  I was never left wondering if they would take care of the issue and they never questioned how I had been using the case or how much stuff I had packed into it, they just said a new one is on it's way.  I like dealing with companies that treat me right and also like to pass it on when they do (or do not in some cases) so buy Drago products with confidence knowing that they will stand behind their product should something come up.
  22.    Well I think that's due in part to the fact that we have let this go to far and i'm not just talking about since the CCC push started. My grandparents were both educators from college to retirement and filled every role from classroom teacher to principal and everywhere in between as well as my grandfather being on the school board and they don't even recognize whats going on now. We've allowed even our small conservative town's schools to be infiltrated by liberal/socialist teachers so it's not as easy as saying 'whoa now, lets just let the educators run the show" because they are a huge part of the problem. That leaves concerned parents and citizens to try to try and get something done and that's not going to be easy because we can fuss all we want but that accomplishes nothing until we get the scuzzy teachers and politicians out of the way and good ones in place. See if we had put the brakes on this crap a long time ago it would have been easier but we've let it fester and the infection has reached the bones and it's going to take a hardcore dose of antibiotics to cure it.. I don't mean to be pessimistic but I don't see this being stopped much less good changes being made until being fed up and pissed off becomes a lot more wide spread than it is.
  23. Hitler said something to the tune of "give me the loyalty of the children and I can take over in ten years" Most people make the mistake of thinking that bad people are idiots because in their mind they all fall into the category of broke thug. If you study the actions of all the major mass murderers such as hitler you will find that they are all far from idiots, in fact most of them have been brilliant men that have mastered the art of deception and manipulation. I think that we are being shown their hand and we (collectively) are choosing to stick our heads in the sand and say "oh that could never happen in America". We are no different that any other country besides our constitution and the fact that for the most part we don't worship a murderous false god. I think we are seeing both of those being eroded to the point that they won't be able to save us much longer. They are getting rid of us the same way you eat an elephant, one bite at a time.
  24. I was just curious because my friend that has one lets anyone that talks to him about it run a mag or so through it. He just likes seeing the smile on their faces. I thought there was a chance it could have been him.
  25.    A Sub 2000 is a budget minded fold up backpack gun and is great for that. The Kriss is a cutting edge, next wave kinda firearm and really isn't any comparison. I've handled them both and they are both great firearms but each have their own purposes.
