  1. And that would be the Hi-Power...
  2. Picture time!!! Woohoo....Here's mine. This thing thumps HARD on both ends.
  3. ONLY do it if you plan to reload. It is an addictive gun to shoot, and you will otherwise go bankrupt shooting it. It is a very versitile cartridge. Mild to wild...like really wild (50# recoil pulse)
  4. It does nothing extra process wise - but has another carbide sizing die on the crimp die. That way when you crimp hard the carbide die eliminates any case ballooning on the upstroke.
  5. Dropbox (getdropbox.com) is perfect for this. Use it to store pictures of other valuables, your cars, and your house also. 2 gig worth of pictures and databases will fit there....take pictures of honking everything you own.
  6. Egads that thing looks like a half completed suspension bridge!?!
  7. Yes....this is what I want to know also. Usually only hunt them when it is cold because it kills those nasty things.
  8. I think lee also makes a factory crimp die for it also....they are actually pretty good and will add a bit more neck tension.
  9. Get an sks and shoot it...you will enjoy it. It is ugly, reliable, and useful...unlike much of the overpriced crap that everyone seems to love these days.
  10. A 7.62x25 Tokarev 1911 would certainly be unique!!!! Would be a flame throwin SOB too. Cool idea and you would be the only one at the range with it! The problem is finding good bullets...they tend to be overpenetrators.
  11. Actually 45 is much easier to reload for. Much easier to cast bullets for. Is a much lower pressure cartridge, less prone to setback, less likely to lead your barrel, and at the same time has more surface area to engage rifling, accepts a much larger variation of powders. It does take up more room than 9mm....will give you that.
  12. So why would someone get a 9mm 1911 over a 38super? I could understand for the non-reloaders who typically don't shoot very much, but that extra case capacity really makes the 38 super a superior chambering for that gun.
  13. The 3" GP actually has fixed sights and the same smaller grip frame as the SP101. If you can find one you might want to check it out.
  14. No gun like golden bullets...they suck pretty bad.
  15. I know a bit about those guns. Where are you at in Chattanooga? If you are near harrison-ooltewah I will take you to my range...I will bring my collection of Ruger MK series guns and show you how they all work - shoot some. If you are in North Chattanooga area I can meet somewhere also. Sometimes they are pretty tight guns...it might not be you.
  16. Do above and let me know if it doesn't work...I might be able to help if it is still broke.
  17. Umm....My guess is that it will be exactly the same size as their LCR in 38 special????? You are thinking about their LCP....Not the LCR. Two totally different guns
  18. Yeah sturrin is all...The gist of the story is that pigs are a pest. If they get thick enough in these parts (Chattanooga) There will be plenty of people lining up to pack their freezer. They aren't anywhere to be seen here - Yet. See no reason to pay someone good money to shoot what is considered a pest/vermin/nuisance. Especially when pork is $1.99# at Bi-Lo. I would travel a very short bit to help a landowner wanting to help rid themselves of pigs. Just wouldn't pay hundreds of dollars for the honor of doing so. One would think that it would be the other way round.
  19. Actually I am so lazy that I sit on my back porch and only shoot the squirrels in the trees directly above me so that I don't have to walk down the stairs to the yard. It gets even better. I skin them on the spot and throw the inedibles over the porch on the ground. Go back that night and shoot the racoons eating the squirrels. I skin those and use what you can't eat to fish for catfish...again lazy as possible. I use the fish that I catch, but don't want to eat, to bury in the backyard...to fertilize my garden. Which I grew from a $0.75 bag of seeds. The gun you ask....It is a 80 year old $30 single shot Springfield 120a that I fixed up and have sitting by the door. Box of $1.50 .22 ammo will last me all year. So yeah...I have cheap and lazy down pat.
  20. My wife actually used the .22lr one to practice shooting a pistol for the first time....even qualified for the HCP using it. almost zero....I mean zero recoil. She now carries .38+P and is really good with it. Mine has hothouse .357s....if you stand directly behind me when shooting you can see a fire ring blow out the barrel 5 or 10 feet. If it doesn't kill what it is pointing at...it will blow it over.
  21. Mike is 100% correct. You can change those grips and give the gun a whole new lease on life. Traunch also makes a good product.
  22. Oooh...SP Picture thread. Have a couple of rather rare ones!
  23. It should be on the ruger.com site soon. I have some pretty good sources.
  24. The are a comin' - LCR in 357 Magnum. Also the LCR will have several grip options. There will be a SR-556c with a short barrel. Woohoo! er...wait a minuted. Never thought I would see Ruger getting all black and evil. Even their AC-556 and UZI wasn't all that scary.
  25. About the caged hunt thing.... Heck - If it were a tasty, tasty pig I would have no problem if someone brought a caged pig to my home in the bed of a pickup truck, backed up to my window, and let me shoot it without even getting out of bed. Would even pay them some money if they would butcher it too. Don't care jack about the sporting aspect of hunting...I am in it only for the harvest. The sport aspect is just as stupid as buying a $20,000 boat to catch a $3 fish. I am in it purely for the food. Easier is better. Let any naysayers put that in their pipe and smoke it!
