  1. Straight kerosene works well too. Can use it after soaking to use in heaters...won't harm a thing.
  2. Is entirely possible...bots exist that scour for user names and enter the same thing for the password as well as 2 or 3 simple guesses. Even if the site here has safeguards for such things people often use the same ID and PWD for the 30 other sites that require similar informaiton... In this case it is not a bot...someone is a sore sot, or someone else decided to have some fun on an unlocked machine.
  3. That and Dicks is pretty lousy. Hopefully this will force them to get their act together. Hibbitt sports is the one that might as well close up shop now. The competition will be great....Sportsman's Warehouse will have to work for that dollar now rather than benefit from being the only player in town. I am suprized how much larger the store was than the Rivergate one in Nashville....the format was the same, but there was quite a bit more room. If that Hamilton Place one is going to trump that...I have no Idea what else they could have fit in there with respect to normal SKU.
  4. Are you an NRA member? ....one of their benefits of general membership is insurance to cover just such a situation. Might want to check it out.

Depending on the load the Smith may be a little bit easier to handle, but a guy at the range the other day swore that the little Taurus was the sweetest shooting little .380 he has ever owned. Would be wise to test both if recoil is a major concern...they are so close it would depend on what fits her hands better. FWIW - Both the 442 and the 642 are painted aluminum...neither blued or stainless.
  6. I think that they are going to be open 24 hours a day...premium memberships will allow unrestricted used during this time.
  7. They were released the same day as the SR9c. Have played with the BH...lot of holes in that cylinder! Needs to be "Hunterized" IMHO to get the most out of the cartridge if it is not to be used as SD - in which case the BH is not. Not sure who they are targeting with that one. Would be a great coyote gun is hunterized.
  8. I am pretty sure that when they speak of manna from heaven....they mean this beautiful, tasty, and warm little piggy. Wait a minute...that can't be right!?!?
  9. Generally the tighter they are....the better groups they can shoot. The downside is on custom guns is they are often stiff and are prone to malfunction if not kept white glove clean. But oh man do they shoot good. The mil spec ones are loose and less prone to above problems. They are loose enough to where you should be able to throw 4 or 5 completely dissasembled guns into one big box, shake it up, and put them back together without any malfunctions. Despite the loose tolerences on the mil-spec ones. They still shoot really, really good with respect to the world of pistols.
  10. The uppity-ups who would buy such a piece would be too worried about their chinos to even get near the mud.
  11. Heck...if it is a game animal I would want to keep it. Make the calls. Get the OK. Dispatch said animal. Enjoy tasty, tasty backstrap.
  12. 60 seconds....blindfolded....major components in a box. Wanna bet?
  13. True story....My wife was inside shopping in Nashville a year or so ago and I was leaning against a pole/barrier in the parking lot waiting for her. The barrier was a railroad tie pounded in the ground to keep people from parking there because the big sign at the edge of the spot must have been denting cars up. The top 1' of it was painted orange, but the rest of it going into the ground was standard rust. Some yahoo pulled close to me, honked his horn, and stuck his head out "how about you moving so I can park?" I didn't budge. He honked again...this time for about 10 long seconds. I moved enough to let him see that there was a honkin railroad tie there. He sat there a second, and left the parking lot. That was very satisfying.
  14. Yeah...the people who bellyache about them tend not to be the most technically inclined.
  15. Chuck'em
  16. Sticky nozzle that causes you to split-pee and totally miss the toilet. One side goes into the A/C register and the other straight in to the wife's box of pads.
  17. Man you guys are a snobby bunch...jeez louise This is a good thing folks! Even if you don't buy one. More offerings = more choices = more competition = better for consumers (that is us - FYI)
  18. Kinda wrecks the point of bringing the full auto guns to the range IMHO.
  19. You will love that shotgun....one of the best
  20. I am pretty sure that GTS and I went though 10,000 rounds of various calibers in the last year that we could actually buy powder and primers. haven't picked up the pace of late for varying reasons. Have a 5 gallon bucket I am filling up with primers from the reloading bench. Not sure how many that adds up two since I started filling it. A lot.
  21. It isn't quite that simple....one ragged hole is hard to measure when you have to make 25 shots. Thus they are done on individual targets. The above is a perfect score, but a winning card is often very close. Don't know why it is so hard to believe that a rimfire gun can't produce the accuracy of a centerfire one...every benchrest .22 competition every weekend across the country does it. If you are in Nashville...drop buy the Gallatin Gun Club to see them shoot. Last I heard they are still competing up there.
  22. I have to take some pictures of the folks here at CRC during .22 benchrest. You would not believe the groups they get. They get really upset if they don't make one ragged hole. Simply amazing. Aside from slowing down after 300 or so feet....a good target .22 will shoot as good as any rifle made...including the 80# block actions.
  23. Depends on the condition of the gun. Phosporic acid stops rust sure enough...but it doesn't remove the need for blasting I reblue a lot and blasting provides a matte finish to contrast against the more polished portions of the gun. 1911 is the textbook example.
  24. LOL...So they are unsweetened Kool-Ade
  25. Eventually...they may get around to it. Taurus warranty department track record S-U-C-K-S. Also coil springs > leaf springs
