Buddy and I had a box of thunderbolt .22 the other day. hat 2 out of 10 fail to fire out of the box. We had 4 different guns that were having the same problem too. They do have bad days....some brands more than others.
-
Yikes...that is the kinda thing that blows guns up! You should really let them know of this. Hope you kept the box/lot numbers.
-
It really isn't just because of the cost savings for manufacture. They don't rust They are lighter They are cheaper to replace They are somewhat self lubricating Their flexibility may actually make them a bit more reliable....Have had a metal 92 jamb up before on reassembly simply because the guide rod was binding from sloppy tolerences/casting marks.

Don't forget that, unlike the exterior of the gun, the internal parts are largely carbon steel. If you haven't already done so - I suggest a complete takedown, cleanup, and lube of those internal parts. It isn't really a beginner job as there are one or two parts that are tricky to get in and out without a special screwdriver like tool, but not too difficult and there is a couple of Nashville area gunsmiths who will give it a once over for $40 or so.

Don't know if it has been mentioned yet....but the CZ 75 is an evolution of the BHP design much like the Beretta 92 is that of the Walther P38. They feel very similar.

DO WANT: Army Begins Shipping Improved 5.56mm Cartridge

Military in the US has an incredibly thrifty budgeting process (meaning they aren't burning taxpayer money) ....But they aren't Cheap by any stretch. 5% of the Worlds largest economy is a lot of money. -
Which of your semi-autos can be fired limp wristed?
I_Like_Pie replied to Will Carry's topic in Handguns
Locked breech guns generically transfer inertia of the entire gun backwards....if you limp wrist the slide is inclined vertically and that backward push does not translate to proper slide movement. Limp wrist is failure is the result Non-breech locked guns directly act on the slide/bolt rather than relying on the rearward inertia. Any pistol that does not have a locked breech design will be immune to limp wristing. Most guns under .380 caliber fall into this category. -
McDonald v. Chicago SCOTUS Opinion

Cooper, Ayoob, etc.... They were good I will admit. But Alan Gura is my personal 2a hero! -
Only gun snobs who are more talk than material look down on the "idiot mark" It is akin to seeing a used car with a scuffed wheel and automatically assuming that the oil has never been changed. If you shoot it and clean it - there will be wear. It is not unusual at all to have the stop slide accidental glide across the frame to leave a very faint line. Gouging a trench is a different story....then the name suits. It doesn't affect the function of the gun at all. Just means that the gun is used. Don't worry about it, shoot it, and enjoy it.

I believe it. The tidal wave of maturing gun nuts brought on during the expiration of the AWB have finally moved up to real guns Real big this --->

Guys...I am not sure what I am not being clear about here. In the eyes of the BATF - This thing isn't even considered a firearm at all. No stamp No serial number If wal mart wanted to sell them in their toy section - they could legally do so. Why...? There is no doubt that this could do it. Not understanding why it is even a doubt that a barrel stuffed with gunpowder and a ball bearing could put a hole in a can. This whole website is dedicated to such a device.

There are some now that actually pack more of a whollop than the majority of factory .38 special loads. 22 magnum is a very, very underrated cartridge.
-
They have been making shotguns for a LONG time....back in the 70's and 80's Winchester imported for them....now it is CZ Some of them are very fine guns!
-
I am happy with the free ones that I get from Harbor Freight. They are in every jacket pocket, tackle box, and vehicle that I own. Heck I have so many of them around that every time I do the laundry one ends up in the dryer.

Actually....as long as it uses black powder, has a smooth bore, and has a fuze rather than primer ignition system....one could make a cannon that launches 55 gallon drums full of concrete if they so choose (don't try this - you will blow yourself up)
-
Yes...you can legally make one that shoots bowling balls if you so desired. This "mini" cannon is little more than a piece of metal with a big hole drilled in it for the bore, and a little hole drilled in it for the fuze. One could theoretically be made with little more than 2 pulls of a drill press. Make sure to use black powder rather than smokeless....otherwise you will shoot your eye out :-)

The Disclose Act (HR 5175) and NRA Hypocrisy
I_Like_Pie replied to TomR's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I wish you dingbats would make up your mind. Heck just last month everyone here was chastising those who weren't NRA members. Now we are somehow on the wrong side of the fence if we do. Must everything be so black and white....Really? -
That 35 year old .22 Ruger will outshoot any gun you can buy these days - Time and "modern" technology a better gun does not make. Strap it to a ransom rest and it will butt heads with a $2000 1911. It is one of the most accurate rimfire pistols you can buy. Either way....the picture you have there would be a 100 score on your HCP.

I love it...The white on Black is easy on the eyes. Seems like a simpler UI. Good job.

This is the best advice you will ever get for that chambering. These guns pretty much universally LOVE 4350 and 117 grain bullets. I zero mine in at 275 yards and it gives me a point blank range exactly how 1shot describes. 25-06 is truly an excellent cartridge.

Cut a 3/8" to 1/4" piece of very fine monofiliment, drop it in the screw hole with just the tip poking out the top. Screw in like normal. The combination of interference in the threads + the compression of the screw head against the line keeps things from backing out. Does not hold as tight as locktite, but good enough for most any non-vibrating application.
-
Yes...they are aware of him. The funny description is par for the coarse with woot as they do this with every item they sell. They also often (3 or 4 times a year) have top dollar knives like this.

With respect to target chambered barrels...people treat them with the same superstition as baseball players do with their "rituals" --Unless one is an alchemist Steel > Brass > Lead --The only thing the hyper velocity ammo will do is batter the bolt harder than normal. --Shooting other .22 ammo like stingers and long case ammo will only make it more difficult to chamber...increasing failure to battery. --The barrel material is the same as any other gun. Throat erosion isn't really a problem on sub 40,000 psi, 1500 psi guns.

Man it would take a big press to reload for that thing. Would be hell on deer and hogs! Forget brush deflection...You could shoot through trees
