I'm kinda leaning towards your theory too. That is an incredible boom though. My bowels would have really let go. On that note too, that's why I would never sell or give my reloads to anybody or test a new load anywhere near another person. I wouldn't want to blow up my gorgeous face, but I REALLY wouldn't want to hurt anybody else.

dangers from new shooters/reloaders.
bikertrash2001 replied to vujade's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I would like to chime in a say I am a new re-loader but I'm doing for the fun of it and not just build a stock pile. With that enthusiasm, I've read, watched and taken in just about everything I could before I popped out my first spent primer. I check every case for a double charge and measure and put each in a case gauge. I'm saying this for 2 reasons. Maybe to put you mind at ease that some noobs are really taking this seriously. Also, please don't immediately discount all noobs and help where you see a chance. -
Ok, don't flog me too bad for asking. I have a box of small rifle primers but I'm just loading 9mm right now. If times were any different, it wouldn't be a issue, I just wouldn't do it. Since primers are such a hot commodity, I thought I would ask you guys. I have a nice recipe of of 6.0g of Accurate #5 and a 115 FMJ that shoots great though my PX4. I was wondering if I tried back at like 5.6g and the SRP since they are a little hotter.

9mm Loaders, How much of a crimp do you use?
bikertrash2001 replied to bikertrash2001's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
This is one of the techniques I was playing with. -
Hey guys, the crimp is the one thing that I'm still sweating a little bit on the reload process. I haven't slammed any home yet, but trying to get as much info as I can first. I'm wondering if after the seating process, how much a crimp is actually needed. I'm wondering if the resized case puts enough pressure on it without needing a crimp. Thanks

Bill Goodman back in town this weekend
bikertrash2001 replied to Grunt67's topic in Events and Gatherings
I would like to go just to get some stuff from David, but I don't think I could handle the crowd. I expect this one to be packed like last time. -
Those are kinda rare birds out there right now. I was looking for one but gave up.

Just wondering the low-down. Thanks

Something I was wondering. My Honady resizing die is also the decapper. My first round of brass is going to be cleaned already. I would think you would like to have the spent primer knocked out before you clean to get the pocket scrubbed. Is it ok to run a dirty case though the sizer though? I would guess that as long as there isn't built up crud on the outside it would be ok. Thanks Guys

The problem right now is finding the reloading components (primers, powder and bullets) is getting about as tough as finding factory ammo.

Primer goes off while Primming

Ya know Lester, A face shield isn't a bad idea...I may do that myself. -
Anyone order from www.mastercastbullets.com?
bikertrash2001 replied to jaysouth's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I think that means 1000. Like in roman numerals. c=100, m=1000 etc. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. -
PX4 Storm 20 round magazine on Beretta site

Hey Lester, Thanks for the info! I'm sure there was a little flinch-factor in there too. Thanks for taking the time to write a nice description for a new guy! -
PX4 Storm 20 round magazine on Beretta site
bikertrash2001 replied to LowBb's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Hey LowBb, I just got back from the range and I love it! It shot as good as I could hold it and I put 100 rounds through it. I only loaded 10 at a time with loading tool. The only issue I had was having to hold the front sight really high. I was probably only 10 feet away, so with more distance, that may even out. This is my first "big boy gun" and the recoil was very manageable. I'm very happy! -
They keep getting it in every couple of days.

I always wonder if all of those go straight to the furnace without a second thought. I'm not implying anything crooked, just wonder about some of the nice ones being saved.
-
I'll second the suggestion for him to rent one. I wanted a 1911 really bad and then I rented one at the range and decided it wasn't the gun for me yet.

Was that a gun buy back bin? Looks like some unique stuff in there. Sorry I'm no help on the one you're asking about.

PX4 Storm 20 round magazine on Beretta site
bikertrash2001 replied to LowBb's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Hey LowBb, what caliber is your Storm? I just got my 9mm (full size) this past Saturday and haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. Ammo should be here today and I'll be heading to Guns and Leather shortly after! -
I just got a Storm PX4 with a decocker. I studied it very carefully without a round in the chamber. Like luvmyberetta said, the safety/decocker rotates a pin out of the way of the hammer before it ever even falls.

I've been to Guns and Leather in Hendersonville quite a bit. They have 15 lanes I think and good ventilation. Can get crowed but put your name on a list and you'll be in pretty quick. The one time I went to the Academy of Self Protection, it was VERY smokey and hard to stay in too long.

There's Springfield Arms and Spittin' Bullets that I can think of. -
Goodman's Gun Show - Nashville - 1/12-1/13
bikertrash2001 replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in Events and Gatherings
I had second thoughts about this show from the day I heard about it. I don't like the crowds and the one in early December was bad enough and that was well before the madness.
