  1. Reloading is cheaper, especially at today's commercial prices. Cost for reloading depends on the cost of the components, some of which are getting scarce. The cost of primers has gone up considerably and the supply is very low. The cost for powder and bullets has increased slightly, but not as much as the primers. A lot of people consider the cost of brass as zero since you can reuse the brass that you purchased as new ammo or you can pick up brass at the range. Lately, I haven't figured the cost of my reloads, but when I did last year, 9mm and .38spls were roughly $6.00 per 50. So today if the component costs have increased on average 25%, you're still looking at $7.50 per 50. That's just for the components and not the initial cost of equipment. Also, if you factor in your time involved, that's a whole different story. If you have the time, reload. If you don't have a lot of time, then commercial may work out cheaper (but I doubt it).
  2. I've used a 240gr JSP with 19.0gr of AA#9. Also used 9.0gr of Titegroup with the same bullet. Both shot well. I just loaded up some 180gr LFP with 5.5gr of Titegroup last night, have not shot them yet.
  3. Now that you posted pictures ... Yep, that's the one I have. Did you get the box and manual with it? If not, I should have mine around somewhere and I could copy it for you. Let me know. Not sure about the "rail". Never messed with it.
  4. I have 3 mtm casegaurd ammo boxes for 9mm. Each box holds 50. First one to send me a message gets all 3.
  5. It's a .22lr. I have one that I purchased new back in the 90's when they were in production. They weren't know as the Cadet when I bought it, at least not that I remember. Mine shoots great, but need to watch for lead bullets since they are dirty and tend to clog up the feed ramp. When I first bought it, I would only shoot CCI mini mags through it. Now that the CCIs are a little pricey (and hard to find), I shoot the Remington or Winchester bulk packs. Not sure about mounting the scope. There was 2 versions, a standard and a target. About a year ago, Franklin Gun Shop had a standard for $400 and a target for $500. I said Wow, I only paid $229 new, but that was like 15 years ago. I took a look at a Neos at Academy a few months back. They looked almost like a direct knock off of the Cadet. Maybe Beretta got the patent from Colt? Anyway, happy shooting!
  6. Check out ammoman.com ... looks like they finally got a shipment. Different calibers for rifle and pistol. I purchased from them a few times. Easy, fast, reliable. The price listed is the price you pay, shipping is included.
  7. I use the Carry Lok, but that 4582 Evader looks like a good option.
  8. I use the Lee hand primer as well. I stayed away from Federal because of that warning since I started reloading last year. BUT, because of the difficulty in finding primers, I bought some Federal. I just go slow and everything has been fine.
  9. Sorry, I completely forgot about this. The only extra brass that I don't reload that I haven't promised to anyone else is 26 - 7mm Rem Mag and 30+ - 30-.06 so if there is someone that wants both, let me know.
  10. I'm good for factory ammo. I don't even touch it since I reload.
  11. When I get there, I'm just gonna yell, "WEST WIND" so we can make our trade.
  12. MidwayUSA - Frankford Arsenal Quick-N-EZ Case Tumbler Master Kit with Quick-N-EZ Rotary Media Separator 110 Volt I use this one. I bought the set when I started reloading last year.
  13. PM sent. Thanks tbreed725 Now I'll have to check my stuff to Pay It Forward. I'm sure I've got some brass around. Will post shortly.
  14. I'd be interested if it's still available.
  15. Cool Springs Academy Sports yesterday had Monarch 9mm for $11.99 a box. I guess in the whole scheme of things it's not a bad price, but thinking that 6-9 months ago you could get it for $6.99, I guess, it's bad.
  16. I have a Sig P229 in .40 also with a .357 sig barrel. One time I got to the range with a loaded mag of .357 sig, put in the gun, and pulled the trigger. Something seemed different. I looked at the stamp on the barrel ... yep, .40 The .357 will load fine in a .40 barrel but not the other way around. Live and learn. At least the barrel wasn't damaged.
  17. I hated to be a downer, but it seems like everything gets snapped up quick.
  18. Until it's gone, which has probably already happened.
  19. I put 500 Wolf 9mm thru my Glock 19 in a one day, advanced handgun class. Not one problem. They are dirtier than some though.

    44 Special

I've seen specials at Academy, when they are in stock, but they're basically the same price as magnums. I think Reloaders Bench had specials in stock last week when I was there. But a lot happens in a week.

    44 Special

I just bought reloading dies for .44 spl/mag. Can't wait to be able to shoot what I "create". I'll definitely shoot my 629 more now that I'm reloading.
