  1. I'd opine that he could have won this time, with just a platform of "I told you so 4 years ago". In general people liked him on a personal level, unlike Mitt. - OS
  2. Never found any exceptions in USPS regs regarding explosives, like there are for firearms, so I don't think so. Explosives: http://pe.usps.com/t...pub52c3_016.htm Firearms: http://pe.usps.com/t...pub52c4_009.htm - OS
  3. Here's info about making it: www.gametrailers.com/side-mission/29811/call-of-duty-bark-ops-features-the-cutest-canine-killing-machines (could NOT make that a link for some reason, just copy/paste into browser) Including a "behind the scenes" vid: - OS
  4. dang, editor went nuts
  5. Yep, loaded cartridges, powder, or primers not allowed through USPS, but of course folks get away with what they get away with. - OS
  6. Losing it, but can still spell it. Twisted joke: Doc: I have bad news and really bad news. Patient: What's the bad news? Doc: You're showing symptoms of Alzheimer's. Patient: Oh, my. So what's the really bad news? Doc: You have AIDS. Patient: Well, it could be worse, I could have AIDS or something, eh? - OS
  7. Yep, definitely no understanding of charitable giving, combined with big dose of sour grapes. For every buck you give away to a qualifying org, you avoid .10 to .35 in taxes, depending on bracket and type of income. But you're still losing .65 to .90 cents of that dollar that you could have tucked away or spent. There was a time when the big rich could actually overall save money by giving x amount of it away, hence lowering tax rate on the rest, but the tax codes have long since been tweaked to negate that. So yes, whether you make $13K or $13million, charitable deductions are definitely given away. Should you choose to pay the federal taxes on them also, you're free to do so. But then you'd be not only generous, but stupid, too. - OS
  8. And most of them got that way AFTER they got there, by having inside info about "investment opportunities" and other sweetheart deals which are actually thinly disguised graft. Not to mention plain ole garden variety blatant graft also in some cases. Mitt made $13mil last year on money he's already made -- hell, that's 32 times the president's salary -- he doesn't need to make another original buck in his life, so at least that motivation is not even on his radar. In some ways, the super rich can afford to be more honest than the majority of the rank and file. - OS
  9. (re: M&P Sport) I see none there except a Kali config for $650? (and reserved for VIP members) - OS
  10. All firearms are excepted in case of inheritance, not just long guns. The handguns do not have to go to FFL either. The federal law is quite unspecific beyond that. The trouble you'll have is that UPS and FedEx will not ship guns over state lines except to license holders, and you can't ship handguns through USPS. You are indeed supposed to notifiy carrier by federal law of any gun shipment NOT going to a license holder. And though it's not federal law, UPS and FedEx both require notification for all firearm shipments according to their TOS. And depending on what idiot clerk you get at USPS, they might not even send rifles interstate if you inform. From "18 U.S.C. § 922 : US Code - Section 922: Unlawful acts", the private interstate transfer prohibiton does not apply to: "....the transfer, transportation, or delivery of a firearm made to carry out a bequest of a firearm to, or an acquisition by intestate succession of a firearm by, a person who is permitted to acquire or possess a firearm under the laws of the State of his residence..." - OS
  11. Well, my opinion is ... um, what exactly was this thread about?
  12. Doesn't matter. Only exception for private interstate ownership tranfer is inheritance. Slight disadvantage is, donor must be dead! A handgun may also be rented or loaned for "temporary use for lawful sporting purposes"; though "temporary" is not defined, it doesn't really technically apply for self defense purposes I'd think. - OS
  13. Well, they do suck with CS. But can't say I won't use 'em again either, some of the deals are mighty good ones. Huge contrast with say, CDNN though, great prices if they have what you're after, and their CS is outstanding. Not sure I've ever even been put on hold there. 'Course, you have to call to order firearms, different setup entirely. - OS
  14. Couldn't get through on the FFL inquiry number either? (1.803.240.2347) It's the only one I've actually gotten info/action on. - OS
  15. I've bought several things from them, and PSA CS has always rather sucked. I just grabbed a couple of the blem lowers for the heck of it. And btw, when you put in the ship to field for firearms/lowers, you ARE specifying the FFL. Only glitch is if you don't know the exact name on the FFL itself, not just the name of the store -- like, Bill's Outpost FFL name is William Russell. He is on file as I determined from previous interaction, but just putting "Bill's Outpost" on first line might not go through. I guess they know to look a bit deeper on biggies that may go by different name, like Bud's or whoever. Well, anyway, nada on the lowers for 10 full days. Like everyone else, can never get through to main number, finally called it at 9:01 am, got gal who said "we're just behind, big volume". Waited couple more days, called the FFL number thinking maybe something had gone wonky there (I've always been able to get through on that), takes 15 min of "checking", that gal finally tells me they're shipping that very day, gives me tracking number. Just picked them up today. And no, there wasn't any FFL glitch, I suspect they just oiled the squeaky wheel while it waited on phone. The first couple things I ever ordered from them, both bulk ammo shipments, never appeared as shipped online, in one case I got an email notification only, on another, never got anything at all till it showed up here. Never tried to email them, as I've never seen anyone claim that works. On the upside, I've gotten quite good to exceptional deals there. Life is mostly a trade off of shades of gray, whatcha gonna do? - OS
  16. Even so, BHO's new appointees will make Sotomayor and Kagan look like John Birchers. Even they themselves will have to look left with binos to see them. - OS
  17. They tightened some time ago, at least on the Sport -- bought two this year. One local, $672 including tax, another later, even cheaper, from PSA, $655 including shipping and transfer. I'd be surprised if you can get one in the hand now for under $725. - OS
  18. Yes, that's the one, couldn't remember the brand name, thnx.
  19. Worse, he's gonna lobby for the banks, insurance companies, and securities brokers, typical perceived fat cat 1% types. The Dems should be able to make much of this, class warfare wise. - OS
  20. Take your money and give it to your brother-in-law in one way and the other. - OS
  21. Class C 'meanor, not so bad. - OS
  22. Learn to use your free web space from your ISP? If smartphone access only, dunno if they do, like cable/DSL accounts? - OS
  23. Well, from what TMF and Dol are saying about Muslim real life behavior, seems to me it's very likely that by now many have now seen the thing. All you need is the file on puter or phone or DVD player. It doesn't have to be sold to get around. I've said all along that it's unlikely many had seen at the time the original protests started, but I'll bet it's spread all over the place now even with zero net access. - OS
  24. No no, forget technical opinion only, it's known now that much of the English is absolutely dubbed, at least on the "trailer". The script that was shot was in no way the same as the movie when it was first shown. The actors were told the movie they were making was called Desert Warrior, and actors that have come forward all say those are not their words during filming (or rather videoing), and not even their voices. The lady with a copy of her part of the original script is pretty solid proof, plus at least one of the voice over folks has come forward too. I haven't taken any time to spot check the full movie to see it all of it is same as trailer which contains most of the parts that diss Mohammed the most. - OS
  25. No, but it can be taxable, and worse, reduced because you worked in addition to receiving it, which is also a de facto tax. Having SS reduced because you work on the side is just one of the many examples of how industry is punished and sloth rewarded in the US. - OS
