  1. I have been watching, as well. I have to say that the Chinese have put on a great opening ceremony. The giant LED screen and the dancers with all the lights on their costumes were pretty awesome.
  2. The Benelli was a registered SBS, so it had the shoulder stock (w/ pistol grip). I saw it in pic someone posted online.
  3. Yeah, +1 on the custom tuning. They would definitely have to make the gas ports larger. It could probably be done, I just have never seen one. The shortest barrel I have seen on a semi-auto shotgun was a 10" on a Benelli M1. Of course, the Benelli is recoil operated. I have a Benelli M1 SBS with a 14" barrel, and it certainly has a bit of recoil.
  4. The Serbu SS is actually classified as an AOW, not a SBS. Which is good since you only have to pay $5 for the stamp, versus $200 for a SBS. I have never seen a semi-auto AOW like the Serbu. I am not even sure a gas operated system would cycle reliably with that short of a barrel. Maybe it would.
  5. Go with someone who has a lot of experience doing stippling. Please don't do it yourself. Look what somebody did to this poor Glock:
  6. I sent my app of on Monday (4 Aug), so I'll see how long it takes. Hopefully, they are still quick about getting them out.
  7. Since I am new to the forum, I would like to meet everybody. Owl Hollow is no too far down 65. I am not a member, but I think I can scrounge up the $5 guest fee.
  8. Welcome! Be careful with those SIGs. They're an addiction! (I own six)
  9. Well, it is definitely not the new "replica" law. I found a February 2006 thread on The High Road regarding the shipping restriction to TN. Nobody had an answer in that thread, either. So apparently, this has been going on for a few years now. I sent an email off to one of the companies that restricts shipping. If I get a response, I will post the info.
  10. Both of these times were in TN, so can't help you much about out-of-state police. I have been stopped twice since I got my permit, both times the officers were cool with it. I handed my HCP to them, along with my license. One officer didn't say a word to me about it. The other officer asked if I was carrying. When I said "yes," he just asked that I keep my hands visible. I will always give the officer my HCP out of courtesy, regardless of what the state law says.
  11. If TCA 39-17-1362 is the source of the problem with this black powder issue, then here is what the bill said: I still think there is something else causing the prohibition. I can't see how a reasonable person can determine that you cannot ship BP stuff to TN because of this law. But, I've been wrong before.
  12. That pistol looks very nice. I have been eyeballing them ever since they came out. I hate the styling on the XD pistols, but I really like the way the XDM pistols look. Anyone know if they plan to make .45 XDM?
  13. Yeah, I hope so. The only thing is, I found other BP websites that had the same prohibition about shipping to TN. It must be something else we haven't found yet. Either that, or some companies are seriously misinterpreting the new law.
  14. That new law talks about displaying a replica/imitation firearms in a threatening manner. I see nothing in here that prohibits the shipment of BP firearms into TN. I have no idea why someone is saying that, because of this new law, you can't ship BP firearms to TN.
  15. That sounds great. I am planning on doing the pistol build, and would love a good class on installing the LPK. Please keep us posted.
  16. I have two. A Sabre Defence M4 Flat Top carbine, and a LMT Defender w/ MRP upper (trying to sell the upper to go a different route). They are a hoot to shoot.
  17. I would look heavily at estate sales. I have heard of some very nice finds at some of them.
  18. I like the SIG better. I would go with that. Personally, I think the FN is fugly.
  19. Franklin gun shop is the only place in the Nashville area where I have seen one. Hero-Gear down in Winchester had a couple, but I can't remember the price. You might try Guns and Leather in Greenbrier.
