Let me start by I know nothing about electrics on a boat but last year i had similar problems when I hit the trim button on my boat. Two trips to the dealer and nothing finally had someone else look and it was as simply as a bad ground. It was in the negative battery cable. The corresion is terrible on boats because of all the moistiure. Wewoapsiak is probably on to something with the critter thing. I had mice one year that got a lifejacket. Looks like I had a snake last year from the snakeskin in the bottom of boat

I agree that the bagless system is a pita. We've got a DG-7 it works well but there is no way to take the cannister apart to clean it. I have to take a shop vac and run a hose in it. A vacum to clean your vacum ??? The little filter dirtys up pretty quick and you have to rinse with water and let dry which takes about a day. It works great for a little while and then needs cleaning again. One room fills the cannister "2 great danes" and needs to be emptied. Its an older model and the newer made be easier to clean.

I like this they're still affordable but seem to be creeping up in value
