  1. I've read all of the uselton hate around here... but I've gotta say the 1 time I went in the people were super friendly (More friendly that FGS) and their prices on a few 1911s I was interested in were better than FGS... that said... they are both too expensive.
  2. Looks very similar to a bunch of brass belt buckles My father found a few years back... I'm 80% that it's a belt buckle.. I'll try to get a pick of the eagle belt buckle he has.
  3. That likely would've been my response. But he didn't ask me... I'm now kind of curious why he didn't ask me while we were chatting... Maybe he just thought it would be impolite.
  4. I think I read something similar from one of the runners on this board...Wanted it wrapped in something so it didn't get completely soaked with his body sweat.
  5. I carry 'casual concealed' - OWB under a button up shirt (Not tucked in). I was at a picnic at a friend's house the other day and I was getting up and down a bit.. tossing the football. I just heard that after I left, the host's father, visiting from out of state, asked why I had a gun. My friends responded, "It's Tennessee everyone has a gun"... I love living in a state where that's an entirely reasonable explanation!
  6. Picked up a gun belt and a holster kinda like this: http://rockyriverleather.com/content/files/cache/85b72d4067c541123c614aedfb8f2eba.JPG ... It's nice.. I'll probably switch to a full size pancake holster though.
  7. Is there a way to look online and check the status of your HCP... I know the tn.gov website has a way to check the status of your drivers license. something similar could help with to ensure I'm not driving around with a revoked permit.
  8. I used to visit Stone's River when I first started shooting a couple years back... The crowd and long wait.. (Along with witnessing a couple accidents) made me not return. We often had to wait 1-2 hours for a lane. It was a big PITA.
  9. I must be doing something wrong..I'm a big guy and I just can't for the life of me get the MTAC to fit comfortably. The most comfortable seems to be the pancake holsters...
  10. Nice, thanks for the ideas. Also, I got home today and my permit had arrived! 4 weeks and 1 day. Does that snap on the galco keep you from carrying in cocked and locked?
  11. It's been 4 weeks yesterday. I'm pretty anxious but I haven't really decided how I'm going to carry yet. I think I'm going to go with a pancake holster and my compact 1911. Anyone have a favorite pancake holster? Maybe something that sits a little higher so the shirt covers it? I'm thinking of going with a De Santis.
  12. Does that mean you have a perfectly good slide you wanna put in the mail for free as a result of our deep DEEP friendship? (A deep friendship can happen spontaneously, trust me)
  13. Thanks. My google-fu brought me to a pdf copy of that book if anyone is interested: www.restigouchegunclub.com/Firearm%20user%20manuals/The_Colt_.45_Automatic_-_A_Shop_Manual_Vol.1_by_Kuhnhausen.pdf Mods: If it's not OK to post that link let me know and/or edit the post.
  14. Looks fabulous. I'm thinking about getting a holster like that for my 3.5 inch 1911. Any chance you'd make them cheaper than I could buy something similar online?
  15. So, I'm thinking about buying a 1911 parts kit from Sarcoinc and a frame from midway and trying my hand at fitting a 1911 together but before I do I want some additional advice. What do I need to be aware of, or wary of, before doing this? Any common mistakes / pitfalls? I can't tell from the description on midway and sarco if this is something that will need some additional finishing or if it comes 'finished'. Links for what I'm considering: .45 1911 Auto Builders Kit with Serrated Slide Foster Receiver 1911 Government with Grip Bushings, Ejector, Plunger Tube Steel Blue - MidwayUSA
  16. Yuh, go to Charlie's. The place can't be beat. 40$ a year.. Out doors... Friendly folks.. Used to be called Owl Hollow until the gun club 'stopped' leasing it. I think there may have been some drama but not the sort that matters to us normal folk.
  17. I was with Clarky... The waitress just didn't seem like she wanted to be there and made sure our experience suffered as a result. The fried chicken was tasty though.
  18. I had actually intended to get one "some day" if I found one cheap somewhere.... but that was before I saw the cut away. To many moving parts for me.
  19. I believe the Guns and Leather policy is that you must be 21 or within 6 months of 21... So that the certificate doesn't expire before you are allowed to turn it in.
  20. @Capbyrd Are you refinishing yourself? If not where are you having it done and how much did they charge? As for the quality... has anyone else picking up CZ-82s had any problem with JHP ammo? My buddy and I both got one a year and a half ago and mine had a strange seam where he ramp and chamber met and it just wouldn't reliably feed JHP.
  21. This last bit has always been my feeling on the matter... We travel regularly to the range in an SUV with a hand full of rifles / hand guns / ammo... Neither of us had an HCP and we just tossed it all in the back made sure the ammo / magazines / guns were all separate and stowed away in the range bag... If pulled over it should be pretty obvious we are heading to the range and have separated everything to the best of our abilities... but if someone's having a bad day... Oh well. note: I usually don't try to lock anything because I find it to be a pain and I'm usually taking upwards of 8 guns to the range at a time... and I find the locks impractical at that point.
  22. Off to be fingerprinted this afternoon and then it'll only be the wait!
  23. Ah, nuts. I was sure Charlie would say sure.

    Pistol Conundrum

For a 9mm pistol I really like my TZ 75 (CZ knockoff)...
  25. I'd like to hunt boar. I've never been hunting for anything though. I'm a paper target bandit.
