  1. I've got a Mauser, Enfield, and M1 carbine.. am I good?
  2. Yeah but you are just so dang for away, for those of us in the Nashville area at least. Can we get a Hero Gear - Nashville?
  3. Every time I've been at the walmart on Nolensville in south nashville they have had bricks of .22 and even plenty of 9mm... admittedly I don't like going to walmart very often.. but when I need some ammo they always have it.
  4. Thanks for posting that.
  5. I think what you are seeing is the site is going down and them coming back up - Thats just the way Google Chrome shows a bad link / invalid site.. Does that sound right?
  6. Agreed, These go to eleven ... because it's 1 more than 10.
  7. Not sure about where you work but I know that my office, located in a large building that is partitioned off and leased to various companies, has it posted on the entrances.
  8. FYI - The search feature is really awful. I tried to search for a thread on "how many carry concealed" after I noticed people bashing the OP in that thread for the repost and *I* didn't see a similar thread. What I did see was a crap ton of other threads that didn't seem immediately relevant. You have to recognize that in a search centric world suffering form information glut services like Google has rewired most of us to expect the top 10 search results to have exactly what we are looking for and do a good job of searching. This built in search doesn't seem, to me, to be good enough to keep telling peopl 'oh look we have a searc feature'... What you have is not a search feature it's a fancy SELECT statement.
  9. I hope like hell it his plans work. I don't think they will... I also haven't taken the right wing that makes people believe Obama's goal is a socialist state. I think he is mostly naive... rather than nefarious... I hope he can repair the floundering economy and re-enforce American's constitutional rights (Let's not forget Bush kicked the fourth amendment in the nuts and Obama is hopefully going to repair some of that)... Do I want him to succeed at instituting national healthcare? Hell no - and I certainly don't want more strict gun laws... But these aren't his only goals, so I don't want everything he attempts to fail... We all need to hope he does more good than bad... but let's not hope he fails...
  10. Owl hollow allows you to lay clays out on the berm and that is both a real blast t o shoot at and as close as you can get to cans and what not over at owl hollow. I think academy has a box of .. 96 clays for 8$ or some such?
  11. Is this legit?
  12. It was a Swift Scope that I bought a Franklin Gun shop. I think it cost around 150 - 175 with tax?
  13. I was headed out to the range yesterday and my scope was rattling. I took a look through it and the posts were all sideways / over-lapping / moving . I kind shook it a little to hear the rattle and looked back through it and now it looks like one of the glasses inside is chipped. I think the manufacturer has a lifetime warranty. Does anyone know what is wrong with it or if this sound like something that should be covered under the warranty?
  14. I don't know if anyone posted this already but I'm pretty sure when I was at the Outpost last weekend they had an M1A on the shelf for about 970$... Perhaps someone else can chime in if they know what I'm talking about.
  15. I've always loved stopping by academy for ammo, targets, and other accessories. The few times friends or I have purchases a gun at Academy (Cool Springs), however, have been miserable. The crowds and the long waits both time have really soured me (Though they do have great prices on most everything). We were up there pikcing up a gun and after filling out the 4473 it took another 1.5 hours before we were out of there.
  16. So, I was disassembling my new TZ today and the drift pin that holds the sear in place is snapped in half. Is there a good place (gunsmith?) around middle TN where I could get a replacement pin? Are these sorts of pins something I might be able to pick up at a Lowes?
  17. Ah man, Can I get my Lower etched and colored like that? Where do you take it for that?
  18. In many situations you are taking clients in your car during an emergency. As for the calling the police there may be situations where you don't even know the child is in danger and even when you the children are in danger DCS is the only one called unless the case manager believes they will be in danger. I'm not sure though.
  19. My wife works for DCS in Davidson County and has complained vocally about not being allowed to protect herself in any meaningful way (No pepper spray or any other self defense item), she wanted to chime in so I told her I would paste her thoughts: As a state employee with DCS in CPS, I can see the problem. Especially given that the f2f is going to be documented and the fact that it may be counted as work hours. If for some reason, even if I am not on call, I get an emergency that I have to attend to in a case while driving out to the range or to the store I would have to go home and it would be a more serious issue because it endanger the child due to a delayed response time on my part. The problem is as a state DCS employee we will encounter clients which is unfortunate because it means there is no real solution to the issue unless you get the rules more clearly defined from the state, which is part of the reason I won't be getting my carry permit, I don't want to risk the trouble it would cause. She wanted to add: Unless they are going to set up a formal system that ensures we aren't going to be in violation of any rules when these type of emergency situations happen they will have to be accepting of the fact that no matter how important the emergency is I may have to take a gun home or I may be unavailable because I have been out to dinner and had a few drinks and as for carrying a handgun you just have to make it clear that no matter how important it is you can't talk business when it isn't during your 'work hours' or on call time.
  20. I went down to Hero-Gear yesterday from Nashville to see what all the hoopla was about and I gotta say - It was one of the friendliest gun shops I've ever been in. I found this TZ-75 and took it home. I'm gonna be replacing the grips with the Hogue wrap arounds from Midway this week.
  21. Are any places that sell Kits actually shipping new orders immediately?
  22. I'm in the Nashville / Brentwood area and I'm wondering what the best gun shop would be if I am looking for C&R guns and mil surp guns (long guns and hand guns).
  23. Why can't it be carried cocked and locked?
  24. I have been thinking about getting a ruger p345. They had mixed reviews - seems like everyone either loved them or had horrible problems with them. - But I hear all the problems were only in early models and these problems are all ironed out. I do know the p345 feels great in my hand.
