  1. Cant go wrong with the 870! Get the synthetic stock model with the 18 inch barrel and later you can swap the stock for a knoxx industries ar style that has springs to take out the recoil. I did this a year or so ago and I love it! The clay pigeon guys would hate this but I took mine to shoot skeet one day and the gun dose just as well as my longer barreled bird gun. It just looks a little funny at the range.
  2. I am one of the many who have had a bad experience with Taurus. I say neither! But of the 2 I guess I would have to go with the Taurus. (Lightening is going to strike b/c i just typed that!) the SW9ve is on the cheap side of S&W. As for a CCW I would not trust either! Go with a compact/sub-compact Glock and NEVER worry about it again! if you dont like the Glock then there are always M&p's and XD's
  3. You all are braver than I am for going to PC! Ive had too many bad experiences up there. Be careful (not saying any of you are not careful but most the people i have seen up there are not careful) 1. a buddy and I saw a guy shoot 1 round out of a pistol and the brass stove piped so the he looked down the barrel without dropping the mag or racking the slide. (we left) 2. 2 idiots were holding long barreled shotguns ( I know non-rifled shotguns are not allowed) one handed with the stock against their forearms. (everyone left that day) 3. a family of idiots were shooting from one side of the pistol area to the other side of the pistol area into a huge puddle of water. 4. I saw a guy get into a BIG argument with a ranger which almost resulted in the range being closed down for the day ( it was over a shotgun being used) 5. I was shooting a cx4 storm on the long pistol range and out of the corner of my eye I saw a guy walk down the 100 yard range without saying anything. I confronted him. He proceed to tell me it was my fault I did not hear him call range cold. I told him next time make sure I hear you. not 10 minutes later he did it again! I have never been back since! A few months later i joined the Chattanooga Rifle Club All I am saying is if you choose to go to PC watch those around you closely!

    Hi-viz?

I bought a Glock 17 from a friend with option B already on the pistol and I really like it!
  5. I have a 92fs and it was one of my first guns so carrying with one in the tube and the hammer down is natural to me (as I don't have a 1911). With the gun unloaded obviously if you pull the hammer back and hold it back with your thumb and apply the safety/decocker you will notice the pin that transfers the force from the hammer to the firing pin rotates from horizontal to vertical. This prevents the gun from firing if dropped etc.
  6. 870 all the way! GT's can order just about anything you want and get it quickly too. Did you try Sportsmans warehouse? They have been out of pistols and most ammo since election time but I have not looked at their shotguns. Rumor has it that sportsmans warehouse was bought by some wealth Canadian company that plans to keep the shelves stocked so in the next few month they should have a lot more selectiong.
  7. The pics do show it on a Taurus which means the bayonet is more reliable than the gun!
  8. I got it from a friend for $200. the stock, receiver, and the bolt all have the same numbers while the floor plate and barrel are different. I was going to sell it after it was finished but I think I may keep it now!
  9. Just Minwax antique oil finish on bare wood. hard as a rock!
  10. I refinished the wood on my Yugo Mauser. before after
  11. I drive a 1988 Silverado extended cab long bed 3500 so gas is bad for me anyway you look at it. About a year and a half ago my millage dropped off drastically(maybe longer). It was right about the time they started putting more corn in the gas. Most of the newer vehicles are designed to deal with the corn additive better than the bulk of us with older cars. Im jsut glad to get gas for $1.35 instead of $4.09 at the peak of summer!

    Wood AR15

    that's a sweet looking rifle!
  14. in most cases you get what you pay for. I wish I could go back and get a Glock or a H&K the first time around vs the Taurus. I guess it was one of those life lessons. but to each his own......... good luck with which ever pistol you choose!
  15. my first gun was a taurus pt11 (9mm) titanium slide. pure garbage! with not even 500 rounds down the pipe the 2 pins that hold the trigger group in the frame came out. taurus fixed it for free and i traded it as soon as it came back. a buddy had close to the same model in .45 and the take down pin flew out while we were shooting one day. he had not even put 500 rounds through his either. he still has it it sits on the night stand.
  16. i have a Crimson trace on my beretta 92fs. crimson trace for any pistol are top notch. I know a guy who had the laser max guide rod laser on a full size Glock and it was terrible. it caused jams/failure to feed somehow but laser max fixed it. personally ide rather have a laser in the grips or on the accessory rail than connected to internal parts (something else to go wrong when you most need the gun) Crimson trace also provides free batteries for life. I dont know about their customer service as i have never had to deal with them or even hear of someone who did.
  17. the Walther is made by S&W

scope http://www.ncstar.com/store/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=114 mount http://www.scopemounts.com/index.html?main.html The mount is nicely done I am considering buying another from this company but for a M1 garand
  19. I have this on my 10/22 ( inexpensive/cheap is usually fine on a .22) and its held zero for 10,000 rounds so far! http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=195722 On my 8MM mauser i have a NcStar that is also an inexpensive brand but I got lucky. Most of your cheaper scopes may not hold up on a .308/30-06 but then again they may hold up. for the .308/30-06 you cant go wrong with a Leupold. they can get rather pricey. check walmart they are changing over from leupold to nikon and some of the leupold rifleman scops can be gotten for 150 to 200. I know thats a little more than what you want to pay but its better to pay once than two or three times! leupold stands behind their scopes no matter what.

    rifle help

I have a 8MM Yugo Mauser and its great other than the occasional bruise from a steel butt plate! I put a scout scope/long eye relief scope that is illuminated on it. pics below. I bought 1200 rounds of surplus ammo to go with it but after buying a M1 garand I dont shoot the Mauser much. I decided to refinish the wood ( original wood was nowhere near bad i just wanted a project) A buddy has a Enfield and its a good gun as well it just seems small compared to the Mauser. Wood and steel construction on Mauser is beefer. They both shoot well. I dont think I have shot a mosin but I havent heard anything bad about them. Alot of other firearm manufactures have copied the mauser design so it must be a good thing. We nailed 6/8 2X4's together with a 4X4 on each end and both rifles went all the way through at 50 yards.

    keltec 380

I have one of the older models (they made a few improvements to the components on the slide) and it dose not like Hornady hollow points they don't feed properly. Make sure you shoot a few mags of what you plan to carry!
  22. WOW! it went up again! Bastards!
  23. I hope cheaper than dirt goes under! I got the Dec catalog and it had an ar kit and all you had to supply was the lower. the kit was advertised at 499.97 online it went up to 799.97!!!!! there is a small disclaimer in the catalog that says prices may change daily to give you (us) the best possible deal. GRRRRRRRRRR
