  1. welcome from yet another in chattanooga.
  2. Im guessing forbus dose not have the adjustment screws like uncle mikes do? I have uncle mikes Kydex holsters for my glock 17 and beretta 92fs and i love em The hairdryer sounds like a good idea I never would have thought of that!
  3. even a gun that small i am not going to look down the barrel of a loaded weapon! dose it come with a trigger safety, hammer block, grip safety, etc.....
  4. Chattanooga PD has computers in their cars and when they run your info it comes up with a yes or no next to carry permit. so there is no real need to tell them. I was pulled over in East Ridge (part of Chattanooga for the most part) for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sight. when the officer saw i had a permit ( I keep the permit on top of my DL) he said oh don't worry you are not getting a ticket. He went back to his car smoked a cigarette and came back and said have a nice night. Most cops at least in the chatt area are more forgiving if you have a permit. They know you are a law abiding citizen (for the most part ) and have gone through a lot to get a permit and are not likely to screw up to get it taken away.
  5. the walmarts in Chattanooga seem to have enough shotgun ammo for now. a case of 12ga is $52 (10 boxes of 25 rounds) and 16ga was around $58/60. the $30 bucks a box for 16 ga was either gouging or special stuff (must be gold plated! ) the shelves just have not been restocked since the election scare.
  6. walmart also sells by the case! I purchased a case of 16ga from walmart a few years ago before the price hike. glad i did!
  7. I was one of the luck ones to get a special M1 last fall. limited to 1000 rifles. Its a Springfield I know that's off topic but its still an Garand.
  8. Some idiot jailer with Hamilton county sheriff dept shot himself in the foot a few years ago while attempting to do his yearly qualification. A friend in the dept tole me he is still there. WOW! i know that's not someone trying to copy "wanted" but close enough. All the cops/departments around here go carry condition 1 and most have a level 3 holster. if those of us with permits can go carry 1 why would the cops have to go 3? it dose not make any scene at all. Carry 3 is retarded for cops (except for jailer mentioned above). oh wait bad guy hold on while I rack the slide and take the gun off safety! Israels cops are a whole different ball game. From what I have heard and read (also mentioned above in earlier post) they can draw and rack the slide faster than almost anyone else can draw and fire.
  9. be careful with the black friday add at dicks. usually it says buy a box of ammo get a box 50% off. its a con! even with one box at 50% off you are still paying more than the regular wal-mart price. i got screwed on this deal once and i swore to myself i would inform others about it. a few years ago dicks did have a good deal on shot shells but that's long gone! http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14380
  10. ohhhh ahhhhh envious over the GSG-5
  11. I think GT's should pay Pie and myself for bringing them so much business!

    .22 Suggestions

never shot the S&W .22 but have heard a few things good about it. i have a beretta neos and i like it but if i had to do it all over again ide go with a ruger mark II but a mark III would be fine too (mark III has more required safety features). A buddy has a browning buckmark that is a good gun as well. the buckmark is a take off of some other gun and the beretta neos is a take off of the buck mark. in the end ide get the ruger mark II/III and they offer 2 different grip styles (luger and 1911, luger=metal, 1911=plastic)
  15. yea that's it Quick cash pawn. The guy in charge of ordering firearms is who helped us he said soon (hopefully next few weeks) they are closed obviously thanksgiving but also the day after. give them a call mid week after thanksgiving. They are now open to the public. At one time you had to be military or LE to go in or at least accompanied by LE/military. When walking up to the door they have to buzz you in so most people think its only open to LE. General public can't buy light bars, Glocks, ( they have some kind of deal with glock) and i think vest but the rest is open to the public.
  16. I don't remember the name of the pawn shop. Its fairly new, clean, and nice people to deal with though. GT's arrangement is that you pay for the gun in their shop and when you are done shopping for other stuff (they have a cool store with a lot of "toys")they drive the gun up the street to the TN pawn shop to do the paper work. They have the process down to a science b/c most of their clientele are cops.
  17. She has decided to get her carry permit so we went to GT distributors (law enforcement store)to get a S&W 642 for only $369.00. They are in GA but have a deal with a pawn shop in TN to do the transfer. I_Like_Pie met us down there to look around and he ended up buying/ordering a S&W 442 without the lock for the same price as the 642 ($360.00). GT's is going to get some tactical mossberg 12 gauges in soon for something like $175. They already had 2 or 3 runs of these that sold quick. I_Like_pie got one with ghost rings and shell holders in the stock. great deal if anyone is interested!
  18. ive shot one of the older ones they are decent for the price. I have a storm in 9mm i got 3 years ago i think. everyone who shoots it is hooked. i got it with the top rail installed from the factory, a hard plastic case (Beretta), 2 mags (17 round) in the Px4 setup for $600. sure that's still more than the hi point but i have never thought twice about it.
  19. I saw signs for 4 different turkey shoots in the Maryville,Townsent, Wears valley area for the 3rd weekend in october. I know that's not thanksgiving time frame and not exactly Knox county but they may have all be earlier than now????? But then again it rained the weekend the 4 I saw were supposed to be held and im not sure when they were rescheduled for. Here in chattanooga we have nothing like that. grrrr
  20. what did the black version set ya back? the 642 is in the upper $400's at sportsman's warehouse here in Chatt. or go to GT distributors (law enforcement store) and get in for 369.00 (and a $30 rebate from S&W untill dec 31)and they actually keep it in stock. (unlike sportsmans)
  21. i dont have any before pics of the metal work but i do have the stock work. Before, during, and after. I_Like_pie helped with the final buffing stage and applying wax. Thanks Pie! oh yea and all i used for wood treatment was Minwax Antique oil. When finished it is rock hard! Ace hardware is the only place in chatanooga that sells the stuff. Not even the paint store that is owned by the minwax parent company sells the product.
  22. NICE! ive been considering getting rid of my kel-Tec P-3AT for a S&W 642. this is just encouraging me more!
  23. I am currently re-bluing a sears and robuck bolt action 16 GA (made by H and R) going well just make sure you clean the part well! the cleaner the better blue. At least in my application it seems that softer metals (screws, internals) get a darker blue quickly vs the barrel and receiver that are harder metals and seem to take a lighter blue the first time.
  24. Ide give a stray dog more respect the the president elect. So to answer the original question in a nice way no!
  25. I have a key pad safe. I like it ok but if i had it to do all over again ide go with a dial. pad has a slide out tray underneath where the battery goes and another battery inside the door to keep the info if the pad is taken off. IF there was a fire and the pad was burnt/melted a replacement can be put on easily and the original codes will work fine. so they say i don't ever want to find out! good thing with a pad you can create a master code, different codes for family members, time delay up to 30 min or so. (don't know why i would need that feature). All codes are easy to change if need be, you just have to have the master and the instructions!
