  1.   +1 on this.   I can say that I have an XDs for EDC because of the compact size and with my typical office attire it conceals well. (The Shield I'm sure would conceal just as well) That and it just "felt right" the first time I picked it up, and the results of that showed on paper. Like David, my wife likes the ergo of the XDm 4" I keep around the house.   A second factor for me, and I know this will encourage ridicule, is the grip safety. And not for me, trigger control is all the safety I need..... but I have two boys (little guys) in my house, and kids are curious. The grip safety is an added piece for me when they are concerned, if somehow... someway they ever do get access to one of my pistols.... It's an extra step for little hands. A lot of people will say I'm retarded, etc.... but I don't care. Every step between my kids and an accident, the better. And everyone complains about grip safety, but it never fails to go bang with me...     That said.... I REALLY like the M&P guns. Ergo is AWESOME, and I shoot like a champ with them. They're also usually endorsed as a reliable, well built weapon even by all the usual internet loud-mouths out there that cry over anything but Glock.     Do yourself a favor, go to some place like Nashville armory where you can rent each and spend some time proving what works best for you on paper.
  2. Yeah, and get this... When mine finally broke. I discovered that you cannot get a decent freaking gas can any longer. Now they all have this ridiculous gas valve cap BS on them.... WTF!!
  3.   I still have one in my right leg....   I had forgotten about it entirely until last year I needed a knee x-ray, and the technician was like.... :ugh:  "Do you know what this is?" hehe
  4. My "primitive hunting" setup:
  5. I've had two Ford Rangers.... Never again. I'm driving an EcoBoost F150 FX4 now, I like it a lot aside from it's really in no way prepared for "off road".... but then again, I have high expectations. :)
  6. Agreed... my wife (while preggo) wanted a new (2010) 4Runner... so, what momma wants, momma gets.... Total POS.... woefully underpowered, yet still only manages 18-20 mpg.... handles like a log wagon, yet still completely useless offroad outside of maybe a dirt road. Motor has sounded like a sowing machine since it had 10k on it. Oh, and the inside of it looks like it was made by Fisher Price.
  7. Join the club. My pops is the same way... I guess that's what happens when we get old maybe? Mine has a decent gun, and carries it in the door pocket of his truck. I helped him haul some stuff to the dump the other day, I'm driving and I look down and his HK USP is completely rusted. I asked him "Hey, your gun looks pretty dirty pop. Have you fired it in a while?" He goes "Funny you say that, tried to shoot a coon that gets into our trash with it the other day and it wouldn't fire" I'm thinking to myself.... "They WTH are you still carrying it!?" Who carries a gun that doesn't work!? What's your plan, throw it at them? So as far as advice.... This is what I did. I said... "Lemme take that thing home and clean it up for you. Looks like it could use a detail" To which he of course agreed. I took it completely down for a full inspection and detail, rust removal.... :ugh: .... and I bought him a box of good defense ammo. Since he had it loaded (only 5 rounds also... :squint: ) with VERY old flat nose target rounds. I go out there to shoot with him almost every week, so I'm adding more pistol shooting to the mix and I'm going to just have a talk with him about his carry. Advice: So... maybe buy him an acceptable carry gun? If it's a gift from his son, he might carry it instead. :2cents:
  8. That google search brings up some hilarious images! WTF IS THIS!? A pirate firing some super weapon: HAHAHA
  9. Always had the most luck just down stream of that dam, you can put in right by it http://goo.gl/maps/QjtvR
  10. Getting 100 politicians to sign ANYTHING these days seems like a miracle. Good first step. And, correct me if I'm wrong here, but doesn't the armed forces themselves... who I would think qualify as "experts" on the matter NOT refer to 855 at an AP round? Rather it's "enhanced pentration round", right?
  11. Thanks guys, it's only an old (maybe 2-3 years of life left) wood fence... but I'm not about to give away a slice of my land.... that's for sure. I'm in Oak Hill (between Brentwood and Berry Hill), so I think I'll try the city as they have a ton of rules.
  12. So my neighbor is selling his house, and we have a fence between us that was in place when I bought the property. I did an addition a few years back that required a survey, and found out from the survey that the fence is around 3' at one end of the fence and 2.5' at the other end over the line onto my property. He is of course convinced that is his land, as he paid for the fence way back before I lived here. And I'm assuming the fence is where it is, because there's a large Elm tree (about 4' round at the base) in the middle of the property line. So I'm assuming he had them put the fence on the other side of the tree. My question is, do I give up my property line by allowing him to sell with that fence on my side? Should I use something like certified mail to ensure his realtor can't neglect disclosure?
  13. I used to hunt them the same way... wrist rocket with marbles and sometimes those BB's you could get as slingshot ammo I killed a truck load of critters with that thing!
  14. Oh ... I dunno.... aholes like this guy:   http://youtu.be/MLlDzWt7TPc
  15. Seems like I recall the promise of continuous protests until "things change".... but haven't heard of any since it started to get <45 degrees outside.... Hrmmmm

  17. I amazes me the way people treat LEO's and other first responders. I have a pal that who is a fireman up in Wisconsin, they end up getting there before the police a lot of times even.... You wouldn't believe the disrespectful BS he has to put up with, trying to help people in need. SAVING THEIR WORTHLESS LIVES a lot of times even.... He sure does love his family to put up with that crap for the money it pays... but the benefits are good too...
  18. I went all in and decided to try to hydro dip my 870 by myself.... Bought a kit from here: http://www.mydipkit.com/index.html Has anyone used these before? I've read the instructions, and watched ALL of their videos and even some from other folks..... But I can't get this crap to work! I've been trying all day, and every time it basically just completely melts and dissolves into gunk.... I've tried less and more activator... waited different amounts of time.... Even used a stopwatch on it. No dice, it always ends up like this. WTH?! Anyone on here do this professionally?
  19. Well your buddy just made himself a lot of money if hurries up and gets the right deal for his idea... Pretty cool, thanks for posting
  20. Reminds me of the Marfa lights in TX.   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marfa_lights     Sometimes referred to as swamp gas effect, but those appeared to be a lot higher in the sky than what I've seen before.
  21. What if we could make some rounds that contained C4... sorta distribute them covertly all over the IS territory. .. click click BOOM takes on a new meaning.
  22. Yeah, and the idiot with the shotgun is going to have a hard time firing those rounds looped over his chest....
