  1. Haha.... Hey, at least Glocks don't cost $100k and they work like a sewing machine. Even though I don't have one, I don't fault anyone for running one.   Still, it does seem that any conversation on a gun forum eventually boils down to Glock vs the world.
  2.   Not really....   Prius can be converted to a plug in only.... not to say that qualifies it, but they get an amazingly long way on just electric. Plus the fact that it can run WITH gas to me is a massive benefit over an all electric car.   Not trying to hate, I am after all a shareholder even..... and the concept is a good one... and will probably win out eventually 20 years from now when the battery tech makes it actually practical and cost effective.... and when the expansion of solar and other clean"er" versions of electricity are more readily available.   I just marvel at the marketing behind Tesla, and how they can turn something that really isn't into something that is for so many people....   I mean there is no real reason to buy a Tesla Model S other than you just want one because you think it's cool.... It's not nearly as fast as other $100k cars (all in, not just the sales gimmick mode), it's nowhere near as luxuriously appointed as other luxury cars in the $100k range.... you have to navigate around charging it....  It doesn't REALLY help the environment at all, in fact NOT buying ANY new vehicle helps the environment immensely more than an electric car.   I just wish I was half as good at marketing.  :-\
  3. Is that Tritium? Because it just says "luminescent" on the site.
  4.   Yeah, but if performance is your thing.... You're not looking at a Telsa.  I mean the P85 Model S is fast .... in a straight line ... but so what. It's like the auto equivalent of Richard Simmons.
  5. I have made decent money off the stock, because I invest in what I know will make me a profit.... Just like FaceBook, I don't have a FB profile, but I believe in the power of narcissism in our society... and I've made a really good return on that one also... But come on.... I'm pretty tired of hearing all this FLUFF...... There's something like 300k orders for these soleless shoe boxes now. Seriously? I made this..... =) They do look pretty similar.
  6. I follow that guy on YouTube.... he really is a mad scientist. He's created some really cool stuff.
  7. Never been much on turkey hunting, but figured I'd give it a whirl this year. This is in front of my dad's place out in Lebanon yesterday. One of these 3 dudes will probably not make it through next weekend.
  8. Well that letter was signed by Mr. Nixon..... so........ :/
  9. I'd add too, that everyone's situation is different. And don't feel bad if the money is just too much. You 2 legged family comes first. Didn't want my earlier post to sound harsh. Also, side note regarding the symptoms... my dad's dog once had liver issues like that, and they did a bunch of tests only to figure out a neighbor was poisoning him... but sometimes also they just get into something that's bad for them and they don't know better
  10. I ain't afraid to say that I once paid $1,200 to fix the mouth on my best friend... because he woulda died if I hadn't. He made it a few more years, and we made the best of it we could. I miss him every day. I have more than that in guns. I figured I can make more money.
  11. My uncle was a guard at a max prison for about 12 years.... Fogle will be lucky to live out his sentence, he better be a better politician than anyone currently running for office if he has any hope to survive.

  13. I walked around the dark yard last night with it and the StreamLight.... it seems to help some in certain light conditions, but when you've got a target close the white light washes it out....   I have a red lens for that StreamLight, probably mess around with that some to see what kind of difference it makes. The light is just so damn bright that if your target is within 50 yds.... your eyes adjusting throws everything off.   I'm not expert in this stuff though.
  14. Old thread... but I finally got around to this. Works pretty good.... not sure what to think of it yet. Can't see where it'd hurt any Meprolight one:
  15. Since my dad gave me that unfired Mark V in .270WBM I've been looking at Weatherby stuff a lot and the history behind the brand. I REALLY want one of these for my office, but don't want to give $250 for it!! Where can you come by one of these things for a reasonable price? http://www.ebay.com/itm/WEATHERBY-11-CARTRIDGES-IN-SOLID-LUCITE-DISPLAY-BLACK-BACK-GROUND-/222052978572?hash=item33b3638f8c:g:yhAAAOSwoBtW5gcb
  16. That's a key thought for me too.... I think I still choose my 870 pump just because of plentiful ammo and knock down power....    But you're right. Ounces = Pounds & Pounds = Pain   That makes my Ruger 10/22 take down a close second. Shot placement goes a long way.
  17. Fuel efficient vehicles are boring and communist This is what you really need, no more stuck in traffic or having to use stupid roads....
  18. Oh man... this is sure to go all over the place.....     First of all... stop worrying about the "vulnerable power grid". That's a total load of crap.   Are the systems in the power grid susceptible to "cyber attack"? Yes, of course, so is the forum. So is your smart phone.   I could write a manifesto on how this is total horse sh|t and the tin foil hat crowd would continue to beLIEve that it's imminent.  But.... basically.... it's not.   There isn't any plausible situation where a substantial area is offline for an extended period of time. WORST case scenario for power outage (excluding the way far out almost non-existent solar EMP stuff) is that a single city, say like Atlanta goes offline. Maybe a few cities? Doubtful. But, even then it won't be the whole city, and without substantial PHYSICAL damage to the infrastructure it won't be for extended periods of time. Everyone who's into this theory goes to Katrina.... which was caused by extended physical damage to infrastructure caused by a 100yr storm. Not going to happen nation wide... or even to any significant part of the country. Then these people eventually get around to the ill will of the Chinese or maybe it's the Russians!  Both of which mind you have NO INTEREST in collapsing this country... at least presently. When global markets are somewhat stable, everyone is happy. Turn this country into mad max, everyone on the planet will suffer. Nevermind the fact that they can't shut down "the power grid" (which by itself that phrase is an total over simplification!) via a virus or cyber attack. That theory is ridiculous F.U.D. Could they cause some minor outages, maybe.... for extended periods of time.... no.     So then back to the city folk vs country folk idiocy of that post..... Where do you even begin with this nonsense...   Let's just skip past the whole, ganbangers vs vets..... I mean it's been my experience that vets are folks that HELP people and don't go around marauding. Not to mention, how many of these guys and gals are actually battle hardened and seen real front lines kinda battle? Not that fighting in Afghanistan, Iraq, wherever is even close to the same as fighting other Americans that are just wanting to feed their kids same as you.....  No offense meant, just think that it's cavelier of these people to turn our vets in to marauding bandits at the first sign of the lights going out. Nonsense. Those are the folks that KEEP THAT SH|T FROM HAPPENING.       RANT SUMMARY Those who survive will be the those that.....   AVOID CONFLICT -  There isn't going to be a helicopter to evacuate you to a hospital if you're injured in a gun fight with someone over their tomatoes. BE RESOURCEFUL -  It's always been the most resourceful folks that have survived in any theatre of human struggle. War, depression, disaster....   It's not weak vs strong.   It's also NOT best shooter, taticool operator guy (who probably won't be able to carry all 400lbs of his gear and ammo and water and everything anyway) vs those who are unarmed, under-equipped.... Non-operators   It's who's using their head. Staying out of trouble, resourceful enough to know where to find food and shelter. Be that an abandoned bank building in the city or an old barn in the country.   And being a "country farmer" doesn't give you a leg up. Hell most of these folks are hobbyist farmers anyway, with delusions of cowboy life and John Wayne western justice... etc. What happens to your live stock and crops when the equipment goes down and there's no supplies left at the feed store? Truth is that unless you're in the back country of Wyoming or some place REALLY remote, you ain't safe from my city slicker ass. My truck will go a couple hundred miles on a tank of gas.
  19. I've got a half acre in town with some shady spots... I've not really done anything but cut it, haven't kept up much.... kids I was also thinking about doing the zoysia plugs since the kids kill everything running around. Anyone have experience with it? They say it's drought resistant and holds up well to traffic. How fast does it take over, in a single glee season?
  20. I've only hunted them one season, but learned from the guide they are pretty well one of the smartest critters you can hunt. They have beyond amazing smell, like better than deer..... and although they have great smell they can't hear or see for anything. I've walked up on them to the tune of 15' before and they didn't know I was there. Also any place they've been hunted much at all, they figure out your routine quick... and go nocturnal. Bait works well... If you just want meat and them gone, the best bet is to trap them. Not quite as fun though
  21. That's awesome.... and old-school. In my businesses I employ a few millennials... and they often live up to their reputation. That's the one lesson I try to teach them when they'll listen.... invest in people, do a good job, and the rest will come along in due time.
  22. You guys have no imagination. =p
  23. Coyotes are the single biggest factor in fawn survival in this area, so they do make an impact on deer.....
  24. Neighbors driveway... all sorta critters run through there. It's actually like two hedgerows grown together, so there's like a tunnel inside it and I think the bunnies live in there... that or Mr Fluffy thought it'd be a safe place to hide
