  1. According to records of the Remington Society of America, your rifle was made in 1913. Hope it isn't breaking any rules to add that bit of info here. Beautiful gun. Cheers, Whisper
  2. You've been here two weeks and have posted a couple of "new guy" messages and have expressed interest in a couple of classified ads, and you've posted nothing else. I'm not accusing you of anything, but this is the exact pattern we've seen for years from scammers. People are going to be cautious of a new guy who acts this way...and they should. My suggestion: Spend more time on the forums, participate in some of the discussions, and build a presence in the community. Don't complain about whether people really want to sell. Trust will come over time if you don't act like a scammer or an ATF agent. My advice, and worth every cent you paid for it. Cheers, Whisper
  3. Edited: I was asking about the caliber but I see that the P1840 is a .45 Colt.
  4. Welcome. Can you give TGO discounts at Shooters Supply? I stop by there regularly. Cheers, Whisper
  5. Building something that will shoot bowling balls is extremely ambitious. I have some experience with homemade cannons that will shoot smaller objects such as old D batteries, and you can get impressive blast, smoke, and range from such a device. Building much larger would be asking for trouble, I suspect. Edited to add: Upon reflection, I think it's likely that a bowling ball would not make a good projectile, since it would probably shatter when the gun was fired. But I admit I never tried. Cheers, Whisper
  6. I'm trying to find a decent left-hand bolt action .223 rifle for varmint eradication. A sporter-weight barrel is fine; in fact, perhaps preferable, since my goal is to put a thermal sight on this and I don't want it to weigh three tons. Would prefer something with a wood stock, like a nice Remington 700 or CZ 457. I also have a soft spot for the older Savage 110s, but I'm not a great fan of the new ones. Please let me know if you have one that needs a new home. Thanks, Whisper
  7. Still a fine gun. I still have mine, which has these same sights, but an Apex sear.
  8. This won't be helpful for some of you, but for others who are considering knee surgery, see if you qualify for a partial knee replacement. Most surgeons want to do the full knee replacement, so you may have to look around to find someone who will do yours. But if you qualify for the partial replacement, it's a much less invasive procedure, and you'll be up and walking in a day and fully recovered within weeks instead of months. Cheers, Whisper
  9. Target Sports USA, SGA, sometimes Castle Arms, depending on who has the best sales going at the moment. For .223, SGA seems to have the best prices at the moment. www.SGAmmo.com. Cheers, Whisper
  10. Wow. I bought this exact gun for my then-girlfriend in the mid-1980s. It worked fine the few times we took it out shooting. I'm doubtful she fired it much after we went our separate ways, but I spoke to her in 2014 and she said she still had it. Parts will be hard to find if it needs any. If it's in working condition and it's cheap (say $200 or so) I'd probably be willing to buy it. Cheers, Whisper
  11. This excellent condition Walther PP, 7.65mm has been SOLD. This is the last gun I'm selling from my .32 ACP collection, and it's certainly the best from a cosmetic perspective. Crown over N proof mark, 1975 date of manufacture, Von Stavenhagen sights. This was apparently a police gun, judging from the lanyard ring. Comes with four magazines. When I bought it, it came with two blued magazines -- one with finger rest extension and Walther markings, and one with no finger rest and Manurhin markings. I bought the two silver-colored Walther finger rest magazines separately. $750 to a TN resident legally able to purchase handguns. This is quite a bargain with the four magazines. I live in Chattanooga but travel to Nashville periodically and will drive a reasonable distance for a deal. Not really looking for trades but feel free to make suggestions. I like older S&W revolvers and SIG P200-series semiautos. Thanks for looking, Whisper
  12. You can never say 100% for sure that any kid-- obedient, disabled, or not -- won't suddenly decide to go snooping in drawers, closets, etc. If there's a kid in the house regularly, I would strongly advise that any gun in the house should be in a safe or gun room, or secure on your person. Cheers, Whisper
  13. It is torturing me to see this rifle in the classifieds each day. Someone please buy it so I can rest. (I'd buy it myself but I'm short on cash now.) Thank you, Whisper
  14. More grandstanding by the usual stalinists. Observe and move on. Cheers, Whisper
  15. Gee, I don't know how I missed this. I have zero use for another 1911 and yet I have an unreasoning desire for one of these. Cheers, Whisper
  16. Welcome. Glad to see new members here. Cheers, Whisper
  17. SOLD Thanks for looking, Whisper I'm continuing to prune the collection and need to cut back on shotguns. Here for sale is a Beretta 1301 Competition, 12 ga, in excellent condition, lightly used (I took one shotgun class with it) and with the scarce option of two barrels. I had one barrel cut back to 20" for defensive uses (no choke) and the other barrel is 24" and has interchangeable chokes. These extra barrels are scarce -- I can't find them for less than $700 anywhere right now. With this setup you could have one barrel for defensive purposes and the longer barrel for hunting. The shotgun is the original 1301 Comp but I've added the aftermarket bolt release shroud to prevent the bolt release from accidentally moving backwards. It also has a picatinny rail already installed on the receiver and a +1 magazine extension. Included is a Steiner weapon mounted light (screws onto the magazine tube so can only be used without the mag extension). Comes in a Beretta hard case as shown, plus manual and choke wrench. $1300 to a TN resident legally able to purchase firearms. I live in Chattanooga but travel to Nashville fairly often and would drive a reasonable distance for a deal. Trades considered, although I'm not really looking for anything specific at the moment. If someone would like to purchase the second barrel separately, we can discuss. Thanks for looking, Whisper
  18. Have two of the TN Arms Co lowers myself -- one a lightweight .223, the other a .300 AAC. Never a problem with either. Cheers, Whisper
  19. I've seen photos of optics mounted on S&W revolvers but I don't know who makes the mounts. Taurus seems to be the only revolver maker seriously looking at optics-ready revolvers (they offer two models that will accept Holosuns). Cheers, Whisper
  20. Careful there, Gunlove. When you start asking questions like this, the next step will be asking why the .gov requires a license to braid hair. Then you're going to start looking at other things the .gov does that have no purpose other than to take money from citizens. And the thing that elected officials fear more than anything else is people asking, "Why does my government do this?" Quite down and get back into line, or no Soylent Green for you. Cheers, Whisper
