  1. Man, I love those grip panels!
  2. Back in the day, traffic stops were by far the most deadly activity for a LEO. I doubt that's changed in the 17 years since I left the department. That's why I feel it's moronic to not notify the officer.
  3. Umm, being FROM Kansas City I can tell you that the metropolitan area of Kansas City is LARGER than the metrolpolitan area of Nashville, so what's cow town mean for Nashville? As far as the OP is concerned I find it incredibly offensive, but don't think for one second that there isn't a black equivalent of this guy in the town. I used to listen to a black racist radio broadcast out of K-State's campus called Nighthawks. They were radical blacks calling for killing of police, white people in general, and civil war if they didn't get what they want. Since I was a police officer at the time my chief of police wanted me to listen to the program to "Know your enemy."
  4. Thanks. I can't believe I payed that much for any handgun, but I now wouldn't give it up for anything.
  5. Yes, it's a snake's scale pattern like the rear slide. There's better pictures here: Ed Brown Products, 1911, parts, rifles
  6. Ed Brown Kobra Carry in SS. The most comfortable 1911 I've ever carried concealed.
  7. I'd post a pic, but the last time I did that I was accused of bragging.
  8. I've known LEO's who were itching for justification to crack a head, so my policy is to inform them whenever I have contact with them. A few months ago when I was a victim of a hit-n-run in Lavergne, I showed the officer my HCP along with my license, and all she said was, "As long as you don't try to draw it and shoot me we're cool." Her demeaner clearly showed that she appreciated the courtesy of being informed.
  9. I sure as heck didn't escape paying income tax.
  10. Aww, I'm just so wounded by your opinion. What will I ever do?
  11. Look, ya'll need to consider the fact that I was a policeman nearly two decades ago in another state where there was no HCP at all unless you were politically connected. If you had a permit it was incumbent upon the carrier upon contact with an officer to immediately inform the officer that they were lawfully carrying. Without notification you were assumed to be unlawful until proven otherwise. Me? I would have drawn my weapon at the individual, ordered them out of the car, and make them assume the prone position on the ground until I disarmed them. If they failed to comply I would force them to...period! If they made any movement towards the weapon I would fire. I don't know what things have changed since then, but I doubt officer survival tactics have been proscribed to spare your feelings as to what you think is right. Have you not heard that you'll win no battles on the side of a road? If you want to do something stupid then be prepared to suffer the consequences for it.
  12. Again with the keyboard commando?
  13. Again, for the challenged: He used the example of Chief of Police for Knoxville writing a letter of apology to make a lame point that I was wrong when said chief has been complained about for being a crappy chief. So the actions of a crappy chief proves a point? Not!
  14. Okay, I'll write it for the challenged: You will most certainly not like how you are disarmed with actions ranging from having a gun stuck in your face up to and including lying face down in the dirt, grass, gravel, or whatever surface is available. Does that help you?
  15. Don't you guys complain about him? EDIT: I didn't work for Knoxville nor a department in this state. To give you an idea of how my chief thought, the first class I attended was an officer survival class called Red Gun.
  16. Are you saying that you like having guns drawn on you?
  17. In my case it's former LEO. I'm not saying that's what will happen; I'm saying that it can happen. Police aren't trained to wait for you to draw and fire before they act. If I suddenly saw a gun when I do not know you are a lawful carrier I will assume the worst until proven otherwise. You will at least be having my gun stuck in your face until I determine you are a lawful carrier, and I don't care what anyone thinks about it, and neither would my Chief of Police.
  18. Tough talk doesn't impress. Go out, do it, and show me.
  19. Let me put it this way since you've already showed your hand where police officers are concerned: if you do not inform them that you are legally armed you most certainly will not like the way they disarm you if they discover that you have it. Gravel, grass, and dirt all taste like .
  20. To think Tarawa was a cake-walk compared to Iwo Jima and Okinawa.
  21. Big Bang is really a misnomer since it's really an expansion rather than an explosion. Expansion is omni-directional like an explosion, yet there are galaxies colliding. Many of them in fact, and even the Milky Way is on a collision course with another galaxy, (can't remember which one). Black Holes are areas in the center of the galaxies that are of such mass that not even light (photons) can escape its gravity. This mass is far smaller than the entire mass as a whole of the universe, yet we are to believe that this enormous mass was able to negate gravity and expand into the all of the different masses of the universe when it cannot do so from a smaller mass of a Black Hole? That doesn't compute. One should also understand that science trumpets new theories and whispers their mistakes. They all are competing for grants.
  22. Oh, how about Lenny and his crap for example? EDIT: I find it ironic when people say things like this, but when asked if they trust an HCP for gun handling around them it's always negative.
  23. This'n seem clear enough: HowStuffWorks "Problems with the Big Bang Theory" I swallowed the big bang theory until they discovered black holes. That kind of shoots the gravity thing all to hell.
  24. They edited the laws of physics for the "Big Bang" theory, so why not this? Note: Big Bang theory violates the laws of thermodynamics, entropy, relativity, and gravity.
