  1. Mark, you're preaching to the choir: I'm a former policeman, remember? That system isn't going to change all at once, but getting removed from office for misconduct is not something easily overcomed. Should he be getting stroked in a prison cell? Hell ya! But our legal system doesn't change that fast. It takes getting enough people pissed at one time to actually put their foot down. But don;t think that went un-noticed by the DA community.
  2. True that nothing protects you from a rogue DA, but "zero liability" didn't work out too well for Mike Nifong in the Duke rape case. I think that sent a message to the average DA.
  3. Fortunately, in Tennessee you can defend another, and thus covered from the bill...if I recall correctly.

I've got nothing good to say about it, so I'll do what my mommy taught me.
  5. I have the mid-range problem...especially when my wife's talking.
  6. But it's a good-tasting KoolAid!
  7. I was in field artillery, and the smart ones wore the ear protection that was issued or were able to muff their ears when they heard the fire command. The sounds weren't bad from the 175mm guns, but the muzzle brakes on the 8" would add a high-pitched, metallic sound that came right back at you and it hurt. I would wear plugs even if I was 100 yards away from the 8" going off.
  8. I am in no way obligated to protect anyone other than myself and my family. I have no hero complex.
  9. Obama...do I need to say more? A corporation is an entity; not a human. If a CEO wants to support a candidate he his free to do so, but not in my name. For many years corporations have been donating to candidates under their employees' names to get around contribution limits, and now you want to allow them to openly campaign for them?
  10. You're wrong. Business is out to make profit; not be a benefactor for the government. When expenses for goods/services goes up then the price goes up. The market bears that because the expense goes up for the competition as well. When said expenses go down the price goes down with the market because it also goes down for the competition. Plain and simple.
  11. +1
  12. This one. Which one are you on? They do nothing but pass taxes to the consumer. Wake up!
  13. Umm, corporations do not pay any tax. Tax is baked into the price for the goods or services that you pay to receive.
  14. News Flash: Many in power in this country have been operating under the premise that the preamble to The Constitution of The United States says, "We the corporations of The United States of America" for many decades now. Why would this ruling surprise anyone? Kind of ironic how some would fuss about the government's interference with business, (healthcare, banks, regulations), and then fuss about this.
  15. They certainly checked-out my '08 GT500 enough. But I like all sorts of cars, and I like your stoo.
  16. I seriously doubt that Brodie will give up his twin turbo that easily.
  17. My paster was a former Army Captain, and he told me about the Army's experiment with those stress cards. As a former Marine I laughed my butt off at it.
  18. I like the nose and sides, but not the butt. They shouldn't have rounded it's butt. FYI: The 2011 GT500 is actually going to put out around 580 HP with an aluminum block.
  19. Well, he was simply speaking from experience.
  20. I don't want Obama for 4 more years no matter if he moves right or not.
  21. Well, it changed congress to Republican, but a couple years later they re-elected Clinton.
  22. I'm seriously asking: Do you know of any case where someone shot through a jacket in self defense because they had no time to draw? I ask because psychological barriers can be more effective than physical barriers. There have been a few cases where putting up a barrier that in no way would stop a bullet has succeeded in preventing the BG from pulling the trigger in the proverbial "Plug the barrel with your finger" approach. Police have used holding up their ticket books, (and other things), in front of the BG's gun to delay their firing long enough to draw their own weapon and fire. Psychologically, the BG sees it as a barrier that can stop/deflect a bullet, so they try to get around it when the barrier physically cannot do either. The same could hold true with it in your pocket. Although a jacket pocket will not physically stop a bullet, psychologically it would: therefore, the person will clear their jacket first.
  23. By not getting it. The news had the head of the Democratic Party in Mass quoted as saying that this election shows that the American People are "impatient." They just don't get it.
  24. I wouldn't get too excited. Americans tend to have a short memory, and it takes a lot of emotion to get most independents to get out and vote.
  25. And why would this surprise anyone? A douche is a douche after all.
