  1. I've got this hole washing out next to my driveway. I didn't realize it, but this thing is washing out under the driveway and getting much bigger than I thought it was. Unfortunately, I've realized that I'm too old and decrepit to do it myself. Its gonna require a yard or more of dirt to fill it in right. Do I need a landscaper or some other kind of contractor? Anybody know a good one?

Th P226 is an outstanding pistol. I have one myself.
  3. I'm still a member mostly because my gun club requires it. They get my annual dues, but not one cent more. WLP may be gone, but the corruption goes on. I'm also a member of and do give extra to GOA, SAF and FPC.

  6. S&W refers to grips as Stocks. For original style stocks check the For Sale forums at the Smith & Wesson forum. Be aware that stock styles have changed over the years. Be aware that S&W hasn't offered wood factory stocks for many years now. The few wood stocks they use now are made by Altamont. They ain't the same. Original factory grips are getting hard to find and expensive. For that gun you need a set of K-frame, Square butt, diamond center, post war Magna stocks. A good set will probably run you about $100. But a set of the same period Target Stocks would be right at home on that gun as the factory did offer those as an option. However, that runs into big money. For that matter, any set of K-frame square butt stocks will work even if they aren't period correct and you can probably find some later ones considerably cheaper. Unless you're just curious, I really don't think a standard K-22 is worth the $100 factory letter. S&W has made about a million of these over the years. Unless you suspect something special about this one, I'd just save the money. JMHO
  7. The number should be stamped on the back of the cylinder. You'll have to push the ejector rod to see it.
  8. Yep, a good ol' K-22 Masterpiece. The number on the underside of the barrel should be the serial number. However, the official serial number will be found on the bottom of the grip frame. You'll have to take those grips off to see it. Although very unlikely, there is a chance the barrel was swapped. Just to be absolutely sure, I'd check it. BTW: the serial number should also be on the back of the cylinder under the ejector star. Nice find! These are great guns.
  9. I'm a fan of cast iron. In my camping days an iron skillet and dutch oven were standard equipment. Unfortunately, my wife didn't care for them and I currently don't have any.
  10. This happened yesterday June 22. Mass shooter tried to attack a church in Michigan. He was stopped and killed by church security. One member was shot in the leg. . Nothing on MSM about this. Why am I not surprised? More info here. https://www.msn.com/en-us/public-safety-and-emergencies/health-and-safety-alerts/police-identify-michigan-church-shooting-suspect-as-local-man-who-attended-with-his-mother/ar-AA1Hf8Gp
  11. New guy trying to stir the pot. I've carried 1911s for about 40 years. Ain't dropped one yet.
  12. Maybe you need a new hammer spring?
  13. Hornet22, you don't need to have your 1911 chromed. If the gun is stainless, all you gotta do is sit down with a can of Mother's Mag Polish and a soft rag and go to town. You'll be amazed at the results.
  14. Nope. They call that chunky dunkin'.
  15. Thanks for the plug Leroy. Its still for sale.
  16. https://www.deseret.com/utah/2025/06/15/salt-lake-protest-shooting-man-dies/ Short version: Armed "Peacekeepers" noticed a man with an AR style rifle. They fired at him. Stray bullet hit and killed a bystander. Suspect was hit and captured.
  17. I was a big fan of Stephen King years ago when he was first getting started. Great and scary stuff. But I believe that accident that almost killed back in 1999 changed him. The last couple of his books I tried to read absolutely sucked. I didn't even finish the last one. Put it down after struggling through about one quarter of it.
  18. While I'm mainly a S&W guy, I do have a fondness for pony revolvers as well.
  19. I certainly hope things have changed. Back when I was still working (10 years ago) we had an illegal that got caught and deported twice. Both times he was back in about 3 weeks.
