  1. I also suggest that you buy ammo in bulk to save money. But be aware that right now most of the good Mil-surp stuff has dried up. If you do find some, make sure the headstamp bears the NATO cross on it. There's been some real garbage imported in the last few years including some fake Chinese junk bearing false headstamps. Do your research.
  2. I think a lot is going to depend on what happens in November. If Joe gets another term, gun sales are going to skyrocket as will prices. If you want one, now may be the best time to do so. But if you buy also consider going ahead and buying extra mags, ammo and accessories as they will also be going up if Joe wins. 7.62X51 - turning cover into concealment for almost 70 years.
  3. First off: its the Navy. Secondly: Its an officer. Neither of which require much knowledge of small arms.
  4. No doubt they failed as parents. But holding someone responsible for the actions of another? I could easily see this going all the way to to SCOTUS.
  5. No experience with the 10mm. But I do own 3 Rocks in other calibers. They're all good solid dependable guns.
  6. Most people don't realize that the 9422 is Winchester's top of the line .22. Magnificent rifles! I have one and will never part with it. If it was closer, I'd have two.
  7. I'm surprised this is still here. Every serious gun owner/collector should have at least one Model 10.
  8. Many years ago I traded a gutted out Bass Boat hull with a non-running motor for a .357 Ruger Blackhawk and a 3rd Issue Colt Detective Special. I had bought the boat wrecked and was working on it, but the project was getting to be more than I expected. The offer was made, the guns were worth more than I had in the boat, so a deal was done. The Ruger was gone fairly quickly in a deal for something else. I still have the Colt and will never part with it.
  9. Any time a new court ruling seem like it may be a step in the right direction, be very careful. They'll use that step to stomp on your head.
  10. I've been carrying for about 30 years now. While I do generally stick to just a few guns, I have been known to get these odd moods where I may carry just about anything for up to a week or two just to be different. This could be anything from a .25acp up to a .45 Colt. But, I always came back to my 1959 Colt Commander in .45acp. This is my first love. However, I must admit that in the last few years I do find myself more and more just grabbing my S&W 642 when heading out the door. Quick, easy and it conceals so well. I guess I'm just gettin' old, fat and lazy.
  11. Let her see, handle and shoot as many different guns as possible. But in the end, let HER make the choice.

I have no idea as to what point the OP is trying to make, but I will take a Colt revolver over a Glock anytime.
  13. BTDT. For me it was way back in 2000. Ended up with a triple by-pass. But here I am still kickin' 24 years later. Hang in there, do your rehab and kick its butt. You got this.
  14. Thanks for posting the link Jamie. Lots of good stuff there. I remember a time when the souvenir baseball bats were quite popular. My wife kept one of those in her car for many years. In fact, I have several of them around here. I wonder if the old Chicks or the now Redbirds felt they were protecting people when they gave those out? Of course, I doubt they've given those away in years. Probably considered weapons ya know. Ok, so there are very few restrictions on blades anymore. So, are sword canes legal?
  15. Subject came up on another board I visit. I know its been covered here before, but I can't find it. I kinda like the idea of a less than lethal weapon, but as I understand it, the law in Tennessee is basically against the carry or use of such things. I do own a collapsible baton, but have been told its illegal to carry it. So, what are the rules for use of such items?
  16. And yet again, too far away. If only you were closer.
  17. Most machines are designed so that the cab/driver section can tilt up. You usually have to take out two bolts to do this. This will allow access inside the chassis and behind the engine. This area rarely, if ever, gets cleaned and is usually packed with dirt and mud. Hose it out really good. Check everything you can get to. Hoses, belts, drive gear, chains, etc. Replace anything with any wear at all. Check all hydraulic cylinders for leaks and make sure they hold where ever they stop at without leaking down. Most hydraulic repairs are pretty straight forward. Leaks, blown hoses, bad cylinders etc. However, be aware that getting to the bad part, especially the routing of hoses through the chassis can be a major witch! Especially when its already blown and there's oil sprayed all over everything.
  18. Pretty much what I expected. A total hit piece. Because Tennessee has a Republican Super Majority we are a bunch of racist and evil people who pose a major threat to democracy. What a crock!
  19. The new Rangers won't be available until August.
  20. I set it to record. Not sure exactly when I'll get around to watching it. Frankly, I expect it to be just another liberal MSM hit piece.
  21. One thing most people don't understand is that the 9422 was Winchester's Top Of The Line .22 Rifle. The absolute best they could build. Forged steel and precision fit. As accurate and as beautiful as they could make. That's why used ones regularly sell for $1200-1500+. This new Ranger does seem to have some things in common with the 9422, however it uses a machined billet aluminum receiver and all steel internals. Thus holding the price down. I really don't know any details. I do know it has the Winchester styling which I have always preferred as it simply fits me better than other style lever guns. I haven't been this excited about a new gun in years.
