Confirmed, 300 Blackout WILL run on black powder
CommsNBombs replied to Dolomite_supafly's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I wouldnt shelf that stuff at all. Black powder loves gaining volatility when it sits. Especially in contact with metal. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk -
Right on brother. These egotistical dirtbags who think they can "psycho" their way out of things like this can get bent. Glad you were able to track down the police report - guarantee you will not get a record back. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

Its Submarinos - its in a little plaza when you get off Tiny Town heading up to Gate 3. Awesome food and a really nice staff. That Pharmacy/Protein place right down the hill of Providence - where it turns into North 2nd St and Kraft is the same - that hotel there got robbed but the lady who owns it always OCs a SW40. IIRC I think the bbq place on old 68W (make a left down Wilma Rudolph) near Russelville (30 min drive into the country) is the same too. May be wrong on that one. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

Man this place sounds like a certain gun store in Clarksville...but I digress. I do agree that for whatever reason the firearms retail industry is full of asshats - most seem to have that pompous attitude that they know more than everyone else. When you have a turd boss then all he will probably hire is turds. Thank God for free market so we have more than one choice. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

Its a .mil website - it will always give a secuirty warning when not on a Government IS. The NIPR is wierd like that. Nothing to worry about. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

Glock factory barrel's effect on brass
CommsNBombs replied to tercel89's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I reload and shot 45ACP out of my Gen 4 G21, Gen 3 G36 and my Gen 3 G30 - even with +P factory and handloads I have not had any problems with it - all are factory barrels. Thats with 230gr XTPs, 220gr Plated and 185gr LSWC with loads varying from 5-6gr of Unique and 4-5.5gr of Bullseye. No problems at all. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk -
96R? If so, my cousin was one back in the day and got rolled into 35F as well. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

Ahh appreciate that brother. At least they will feed in the Glock still, next round will be seated and crimped properly. Didnt expect LSWCs to kick my rear end this bad Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
-
Okay I went back and crimped them further. No dice. Seated them further, then crimped again - no dice. Glock barrel was fine as per the usual. I never loaded with SWC's - so should I seat them all the way down so only the tip shows above the "meaty" part? Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

The Army (I cannot speak for other services) does not do enough to identify and prevent this sort of thing in my honest opinion. We get some canned propagandist-esque materials shoved down our throats in form of ACE - Ask, Care and Escort then the Chain of Command and the Chaplain will say that you should get help. This is a multi-faceted failure. 1) They place the responsibility (and blame) on the "battle buddies" when it happens CID will reach into everyones ass, the Chain will berate the Section-and-Below leadership and nothing gets done. 2) As much as they love saying it, getting help is STILL stigmatized. It is still looked down upon and the leadership (especially in the 101st, didnt experience it w/ Group) will look at you as you are trying to "cop out" of service...before I digress too much I will share a story. - We had a dude in my Section here at 1BCT who was a 25B (computer/network) guy. They forced attached him to an infantry company to be their radio guy for deployment and threw him all around the FOBs during our rotation into the Nangahar. After they got back (I was on Rear D as I just got there) they reintigrated him to our unit. He was kinda jacked up but pressed forward - he shouldered a HUGE load during our training cycle and he finally snapped during JRTC. All this time they were belittling and making fun of him. When we got back he got put in an outpatient center and was contiunally mocked and belitted. He finally got a med retirement for GAD, PTSD and Major Depression but his name is still tossed around and mocked. Its disgusting. The reason guys choose suicide is many - Survivor's Syndrome, divorce/spousal infidelity, high stress, combat, getting blown up, family seperation. As MacGyver said - please, reach out to us. It is harder on a forum since we do not physically always see each other. It is NOT looked down upon, and anyone who belittles you - they can get fucked. And you tell me who said it and Ill break their fucking ankles. I have been there. My brothers and sisters in arms have been there. This lifestyle is rough. I dont care if you are commo, EOD, a Ranger, intel, whatever - it impacts everyone in a different way. It is something that is mentioned but never given enough creedence - again, reach out to someone. It could be me, MacGyver, a priest, anyone. Hope that answered your question. Sorry for the long winded reply. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

So I went ahead and loaded 5 of these on Saturday morning on my SDB - could not do too much as I am still waiting on replacement parts from Dillon for my primer feed assembly, the OAL came a little shorter than what I load my 230gr XTP (RN) at - my XTPs are at an OAL of 1.260 and my SWC at at 1.209. They were able to slide into the gauge no problem, however they would not fully chamber in my SR1911 or P345D, the slide would go forward but would be about 1/4" from fully locking up, I had to put serious elbow grease into it to extract the rounds. Even manually seating them into the barrel it would do that. My Glock 30 did not have a problem at all. I even tried chambering them with brand new brass - still the same problem. The original idea of 4.1gr of Bullseye was scrapped - they would fire low on my Glock and did not provide enough power to cycle the slide. I upped the charge to 5.5 instead, that cycle a bit better. I churned out about 450 of them yesterday - looks like I'll only be shooting them out of my Glock (time to find a Glock 21SF). Any solutions to this? Should I go for a better crimp? Shorter OAL?

Clarksville Academy stocking Powders
CommsNBombs replied to CommsNBombs's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I figured as much, I even asked but the chick behind the counter was clueless what smokeless powder even was. Its a good selection alternative since MidSouth always runs out of the Alliant powders - granted I think they ship out more than they sell locally Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk -

Hell yeah man. Breaching is a lost art tbh - especially mechanical breaching. Bring a GoPro for sure! Id sauter the brake - espec if its a perm attachment. IIRC if you undersling it like a Masterkey it becomes a SBS and not an AOW? Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk -

Reloading is definitely and art form as much as it is a hobby - and being such, you should enjoy doing it. You detach yourself from the fluctuation of the socioeconomic sphere that is US Domestic Policy. So no matter how many 1st graders get mowed down, you won't suffer from liberal backlash. Also, like Dolo mentioned you can hand craft your loads to meet specific needs - cheapo target ammo, super subsonics, 155gr 9mm, super accurate steel-core hippy-killers? You have it. The wife and I shoot in immense volume - 7-10K a year, we are able to shoot more because we reload, but we do save theoretical money - 1K 115gr brass cased 9mm from Academy is 240 after tax - I can load 1K 9mm for right under $95 using bulk Win SPPs and coated lead bullets. You will end up shooting a lot more which is not a bad thing. Now for beginning I would stick with 1 or 2 calibers as you have identified and as you gain proficiency and enjoyment, you can get into progressive presses and wildcat rounds. I currently load for 9mm, 45ACP, 10mm, 44Mag, 5.56 and I will be getting into 357 SIG and perhaps even 45GAP and 308 sooner or later, yes its a PITA starting off but build up slowly and surely and you will come away with great ammo that costs less vs Walmart, you will shoot more thus gaining more skill and have fun doing it. Anyone in the Clarksville/Ft. Campbell area the Academy by Buffalo Wild Wings is stocking powder now. A few months ago their store manager said they were not yet hazmat compliant but I was looking at a Glock 32 and saw they had some TiteGroup, Longshot, Varget, CFE-Rifle and a few others which a lot more out back. Not sure if they mislabelled it but I picked up two 1# jugs of TiteGroup for 10.99 ea. Just a word to anyone in the area who does not already know Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

Not sure if this belongs here but anyone who is in the market for a new DIllon Square Deal B there is a .45ACP one of Ebay for $315 + $4.15 shipping. I have one - granted the auto-priming system is a little jacked up right now but it is an AWESOME press - auto-indexing, feeding a case and bullet manually takes about 4 secs avg (I've timed myself for 250 rounds). So...if anyone wants it. Mind you this is not me advertising this is just a GREAT deal. Buying new from Graf or Brian Enos will be in the $400s http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR2.TRC1.A0.H0.Xdillon+square+deal.TRS2&_nkw=dillon+square+deal&_sacat=0
