  1. Thanks for all of the advice and reviews of the presses. I have been pouring over material online as well. I will probably end up with a Dillon 550B if I can find one used on sale on the cheap. Maybe even a 650XL - I got way too much 9mm brass laying around and need to turn it into ammo. I figure the press will pay for itself within the first 3K rounds. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  2. Im still cleaing my brass like a cave man...I stick them in a mop bucket with hot water and Barkeepers Friend and hand agigtate it every 5 mins for an hour. Run cold water through it and then stuff it in an Army green barracks (laundry) bag. They come out nice with a dull shine - but cleans it up real nice. I used to use Dawn and sun dry them on baking sheets - that took too long Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  3. Ill be loading 9mm is serious bulk - its not a rare occurance for my wife and I to blow through 700+ rounds at the range alone. Same for 45ACP - Ill be doing that in serious bulk for the same reason. 5.56 will stay on my single stage. As will 44Mag and 10mm (10 for the time being). My whole thought process is getting the best one for "fast" bulk loading that I wont want to cry if I try someone elses press. So in other words, I dont want to jump into a Dillon 550 Square Deal then get frustrated when I couldve gotten a LnL or 650XL. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  4. Out of curiosity I was looking for automated reloaders - found a Dillon Super 1050 and a Mark 7 Auto-Drive...HOLY PRICE QUOTE - as I said it was out of curiosity, but I started reading up on progressive presses. Seems like everyone makes one, or more, of them - so I am amply confused.   I have been loading on a Lee Single-Stage - I can only stand to do about 100 at a time before I want to die, and that's w/ 10mm or 45ACP - I can't even do that much on 9mm, since it is so tiny. I am going to save up for a good progressive. So that puts my budget around $600-ish - after shipping and tax (thats what I usually spend on a Glock at my LGS) and all of that, unless someone knows of a gun show/reloading expo coming to town where I can grab something cheap.   I am going to be doing bulk loading of 45 ACP and 9mm - as that is what I have the most brass and components for. I will probably stick with 44Mag on the single stage, I never put anymore than 30 rounds down my Desert Eagle at the Range. I will not reload 5.56 until I build my SPR (one day) and that will be single stage. I MIGHT start doing 10mm on the progressive as well - my only problem with that is brass.   I am really familiar with Lee - I offloaded by RCBS stuff as it gave me a headache reading the instructions, Lee is a lot easier for me to use and I understand the quirks behind their dies.   I was looking at the Lee Progressive 1000 - most reviews online keep saying it is the best for the money but it does not auto-index and you can only use one caliber per press - I do not want 7 different presses on my bench - my wife will slash my throat. I'd prefer it to be totally automated - I just want to provide eyes-on QC and refill primers, casing, bullets and powder - every time I slot brass into the shell holder I die a little inside.   So I was looking at Dillons - the 550B and the Hornady LnL. Both are pretty expensive - and Dillon seems to try to rape people with prices and the "accessories" needed. I poured over some threads going back to 2012 (Holy crap look at all the banned users!) and just like the Internet, the Dillon seems to be the favorite. However - everyone keeps talking about how they prefer the 650XL; which is also super expensive.   So for my pistol-caliber changing needs - and not wanting to put in the brass by hand - what would be the best bet, and where to get one? Would you trust a used one off of eBay? And related, would Dillon/Hornady/Lee honor the warranty? What are some "should buy" accessories if I decided on the LnL or Hornady? Oh, what the hell is auto-indexing anyway, in layman's terms? Any other considerations I should weigh?    Thanks again guys!
  5. For punching paper does plated work any worse than FMJ? I stayed away from plated stuff for 45 because I read some reviews on Midway that the shipping was sloppy - boxes breaking, etc and that the bullet diameter was erratic. I tend to over engineer my ammo and be super cautious with what I buy Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  6. Well, Hell - I am going to run around with SIX empty holsters - 2 on my belt, 2 drop legs and 2 ankle holsters. Anyone's pistols are more than welcome to jump on in! [emoji6] Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  7. They take a while to get back to you but their CS is solid. Ordered the 7.5" stainless .223 SQR upper from them and the crush washer (?!?!?!) Was missing. It also had the same gas block problem. It took 2 weeks but they sent me back a brand new one, with an extra BCG, charging handle, and a pistol lower buffer assy with and H2 buffer. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  8. You have any experience using powder coated offerings from Missouri Bullet Co? I love HAP and XTP rounds but $88/500rds of 180gr 10mm HAP is a bit much - I still save, but not as much as Id like. Wish I could find what PMC uses - 200gr FMJ-TC those are a doozy. The one on the far left of my completed rounds is the 200gr it just looks evil.
  9. Oops. Copied the wrong one...Im on a cell phone lol. I figured Id just wait for AA9 to get in stock. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  10. http://www.thehighroad.org/archive/index.php/t-604474.html http://www.thehighroad.org/archive/index.php/t-604474.html Made me weary enough to stick with 800X. I wouldnt worry out of my G20 but out of my G29 I dont want to explode Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  11. I want to build a 10mm AR for my next SBR project - if I had to have one Id go for 10mm ...or 44 mag. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  12. I grabbed my 800-X for about $18/lb. Got 3 of them - stayed away from AA#5 read some bad things about the pressure and burn consistency on them. I really need to save up and get a progressive press - it takes me almost 80 mins to load 100rds on my single stage. However...justifying buying it to the minister of finance is the tricky part Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  13. Bass Pro oddly enough usually has popular powders in stock. That PMC stuff was great in my Glock 29 - not sure if it was "hot" but it felt a little stronger than 45ACP but holy hell what a fireball. Ended up getting some Hi Skor 800X from Southside Shoooters - it was pretty darn cheap and I am used to metering "corn flakes" since I use so much Unique. Went with 180gr HAP 10mm bullets and started with 8.2gr of 800x. Only mishap was I didnt bell out the first two mouths as much as needed, the HAP bullet went in at like a 5 degree angle and the bottom was bulging out the brass. Cant wait to get the range this weekend to try it out. People definitely know youre shooting something crazy - most casual shooters dont even know what 10mm is. Thanks for the PMs also guys - got some really good reference data in addition to manufacturer data. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  14. I appreciate all that feedback Leroy. That's exciting stats coming out of the 33 - as I am trading my 36 in for one to another gentleman. I do not mind giant fireballs and noise - I love that stuff. I do not expect it to be much worse than my Glock 29 or Desert Eagle. Or my wifes SBR before she put the "Pig" on it. Any specific "technique" to it? I was watching youtube and one guy said since the Glock barrel isnt a full support (?) Barrel that it bulges on the bottom toward the bottom - and he ran it through both the 40SW resizing die AND the 357 die Now since I will only own 357 Glocks (33, and maybe the 32) - would this step be necessary? I appreciate all the help and feedback on this so far. Definitely solidified my decision to get one. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  15. Woah, did not take that into consideration. What kind of life can I expect from it? 5 uses?
  16. It will be a small time investment for me - I just want at least 500 pcs of brass and Im good. The Remington UMC offerings were 29 for a box of 50 on roll back at walmart.
  17. Theyre all over the Back 40 too. Around Bastogne DZ I heard them rooting around off of Al Heath. Dont quote me but I think Fort Campbell has a year around hit on them. Did not read into it too much - nor do I want to register my weapons with the provost marshal Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  18. Ill probably be sticking with Hornady XTP/HAP and Missouri Bullet Company coated offerings. Any "style" of .355" thats gets a mention to stay away from? Thanks all for the extra feedback. Like I said it is more of a want than a need, ballistics and physics aside I wanted a fun round to play with and a reloading challenge. Trying to raise some funds to afford a 20SF and one of the three .357 Sig glocks on the classifieds board lol. I was looking at 9x25 Dillon but that one is almost too much of a wildcat for me. And it does not seem cost effective to reload for at all lol. Anyone ever hunt with a .357 SIG? A buddy of mine has a 200 acre farm and since I dont have any decent rifles Ill try to smash deer with a 10mm or 357 lol
  19. I found a lot of people online hype up felt recoil - I was firing full house 10mm out of my Gen 3 Glock 29 and it wasnt any worse than +P. 45s. I enjoyed it. On the whole does .357 SIG factory ammo stay consistent or is it like 10mm where some are loaded like 40 and some are loaded like a death ray? Did you ever experience any .357 bullets getting pushed in? That was another internet rumor, if you keep chambering and clearing it on your EDC it would get pushed back and potentially explode. Sounds like rubbish but it is worth asking. Thanks! Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  20. The AR15/10 platform is extremely versatile - I'll add quick tidbit on that, granted I realize you are not too fond of it. If you wanted to reach out and touch someone a Mk 12 Mod 0/1 clone would be a good bet in the 5.56 realm of things. 18" barrel, properly gassed with a 1:8 twist utilizing the Mk262 (77gr Sierra King OTM) is deadly and a tack driver. In the bolt gun platform you also have versatility with the Remington 700 platform. I was tempted to get a 700 SPS in .308 - throw it in an XLR Carbon chassis for improved ergos and the ability to use magazines. It is hard to beat those staple .30 rounds - .308, .30-06 or .300 Win Mag. I only have experience with .308 but again that was in an AR10 platform (M110) but I have fired a decent amount of bolt guns and love it. Its readily available, plenty of reloading data/components and will accomplish what you want it to. Mosins are a cheaper, and effective alternative. Both in terms of weapon system and ammunition. What ranges are you thinking you would be engaging at the max? A simple M4gery will slap gongs/punch paper at 200m but hunting/target engagement is a little of a different animal. 357 SIG

Was looking to get everyone's insight into this round. Not a whole lot available online - its either caliber cultists or a history lesson. A few Glock 31/32/33 videos but not much else. One thing I noticed is that I can actually find it in wally world and Academy, unlike 10mm which I have to buy at gouged prices from my LGS. So from a reloading perspective how odd is it? I know it head spaces on the shoulder, but that doesnt give me much on actually doing it. Anyone who has it, do you like it? I will probably get a Glock 32 for it. Even though it may be cheaper to get a used Glock 23 and slap a Lone Wolf barrel in it - has anyone done this? Any other insight is also a plus. I dont really NEED one but I like diversification and I am a Glock enthusiast now.

  24. Russia is moving artillery batteries, MLRS units and more C4ISR crap into the country http://www.cnn.com/2015/10/05/politics/russia-ground-campaign-syria-isis/ I say let Russia have this one. Nkt worth going to war over our "frenemies" fighting their "frenemies" Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  25. That is what has been bothering me. If I was there, and being unarmed and he had his gun on me - knowing I have a wife and daughter on the way...would I be able to shed my earthly existance in that moment and not hide my faith? I would be living with too much shame, but I know saying yes would make my wife (whom also is a Christian) angry at me and at God. Its a FUBAR situation - best scenario is I am also armed and can defend myself and others. What I would have loved to put a 200gr 10mm in his face.
