  1. Back on topic, the NRA is probably best positioned to organize a nation-wide rally in support of the 2nd Amendment. It doesn't even take that much money to organize it, just a nation-wide call to action with (multiple) state-level point of contacts for coordination. Yet the 2A rallies that happened are organized by state-level gun rights groups and not the NRA. They are not widely advertised and many people stay home. We are losing the fight! As for the "money bomb", I have donated several thousand Dollars to the NRA over the past years. I got inaction and outright betrayal on state-level issues, FixNICS, and a bump stock ban in return. Become an NRA member if you want. Become a voting NRA member if you want to change anything. Donating a few Dollars to an organization and sitting on your couch while watching TV and surfing the Internet isn't going to save your rights though!
  2. The problem with social media is everybody is screaming at each other, uses memes, and calls each other names. There is no serious discussion and facts don't matter.
  3. The full notice of proposed rule making is worth reading. There will be no grandfather clause! There will be no compensation for lost property value! This rewriting of the NFA by executive fiat would impact an estimated 520,000 bump fire stocks or over $96 million in private property being outlawed (both are ATF estimates). Ironically, this rule does not outlaw the use of a belt loop for bump firing. As for the NRA's statement, they never stated how to regulate bump stocks without banning them. The current law does not allow the executive branch to regulate bump stocks without banning them. The NRA asked for this ban without calling it as such! For those that believed (or still believe) that this is some great strategy by the NRA and the WH to get national reciprocity or silencers off the NFA, check mate. The NRA was playing chess while you were playing checkers. They just weren't playing your game. This bump stock ban will be challenged by the Firearms Policy Coalition, who already retained attorneys Joshua Prince and Adam Kraut for this. Adam Kraut is a candidate for this year's NRA Board of Directors election! It is unclear if the NRA itself will do anything about this ban, other than chest thumping and fund drives.
  4. That's quite some rewriting of history with regards to Heller. The NRA did not win that case! Alan Gura did! The NRA, early on, refused to help Dick Heller. The NRA even tried to derail Heller: The NRA also tried to derail McDonald, by the way.
  5. I use the Ghost EVO Elite. It is well worth it.
  6. The NRA is a black hole with zero accountability. Whatever the fantastic duo, Wayne and Chris, publicly state may or may not be actually true. How come the NRA membership be always be around 5 million, yet we hear constantly that a record number of people are signing up. Either people are leaving the NRA at the same rate they are joining, or the numbers simply don't add up. I am a Life Benefactor Member and have stopped donating to the NRA. I would like to know what they spent my money on. It certainly wasn't to fight the City of Knoxville against the gun ban in Chilhowee Park. They certainly spent it on Dana Loesch's "clenched fist of truth" videos. I didn't sent my money to the NRA to cave on the very few gun rights cases the NRA actually pursues, make backroom deals that trade away my freedoms, produce culture war videos, and pay hefty salaries to the fantastic duo. The NRA has to change. That change should start with the departure of Wayne and Chris.
  7. Semi-automatic weapon! Also, given the current anti gun jihad, showing that a semi-automatic firearm can be bump fired even without a bump stock on national TV would just lead to more support for banning semi-automatic firearms. We have lost this fight as we were betrayed by the NRA. The NRA is the very organization that could put out educational videos and run them on national TV, educating the American public on lawful gun ownership. What did we get? The NRA supporting banning bump fire stocks and Dana Loesh's culture war videos with zero pro-gun content. Yeah, we got the "clenched fist of truth". LOL. By the way, The Military Arms Channel already made such a video on YouTube. It is probably about to get banned with YouTube's new anti gun policies, because educating the public with facts is just dangerous. We can tell the Democrats all we want, it's the Republicans that are betraying us and negotiate away our rights. If you think that we have somehow the power to blackmail the Democrats with the voting age, you are wrong. Remember that one from last year's NRA convention?:
  8. You mean like the Extreme Risk Protection Orders that are already on the books in CA, OR and WA? Who is throwing them out exactly?
  9. The monetary incentives for agencies to add people to the prohibited persons list will lead to over-reporting. You may want to read up on how a bench warrant for an unpaid traffic ticket lands you on the prohibited persons list already today. This typically happens when someone thinks they have resolved the ticket and then moves out of state. The White House is calling for a review of HIPPA and FERPA, so that whole other fight is closer than you think.
  10. That's a rather hysterical argument that I would expect from Moms Demand Action. Students walking out of class makes them no more vulnerable than at the end of class. Also, many schools have additional officers present during this walkout, so it is actually more safe.
  11. FixNICS and its monetary incentives for agencies to add people to the prohibited persons list, and federal funding for state-level Extreme Risk Protection Orders and their inherent violation of due process, for starters. That's only what the President has already said he agrees with. The STOP School Violence Act is likely to be come a Christmas tree for gun control legislation that Republicans are willing to pass.
  12. See Florida SB 7026: "Section 13. Effective October 1, 2018, section 790.222, Florida Statutes, is created to read: 790.222 Bump-fire stocks prohibited.—A person may not import into this state or transfer, distribute, sell, keep for sale, offer for sale, possess, or give to another person a bump-fire stock. A person who violates this section commits a felony of the third degree ..." There is no grandfather clause. Starting October 1, 2018, being in possession of a bump stock is a felony in Florida.
  13. We are about to get hit over the head with both bats: TTAG | White House Statement: President Donald J. Trump is Taking Immediate Actions to Secure Our Schools. Watch what happens under the STOP School Violence Act, possibly already today.
  14. Filing a law suit did cost the NRA may be something like $100 in filing fees. Following through will be way more expensive. Given the NRA's history in failing to follow through, I don't have any hopes that they will follow though on this one. As a Tennessean you are surely aware of the NRA's law suit against the City of Knoxville's violation of the Guns In Parks law, right? The NRA caved and settled on that one. A year later, the Guns In Parks law was rewritten, likely with the NRA's help.
  15. So, you are saying that one should not excercise their 1st Amendement right and to be in fear of a terrorist attack? You don't seem to have common sense! Does this apply to all political demonstrations, or only to those that you oppose?
  16. FYI: Only 13 people used that Delta NRA discount
  17. Here is the source for that: Florida school shooter’s AR-15 may have jammed, saving lives, report says
  18. I have been to the last three. The NRA Annual Meeting is open to attendees Friday, Saturday and Sunday. That's it. www.nraam.org has all the information you need. Pre-register online and let them send you the registration package by mail. That way you do not need to wait in line at the registration desk in the convention center. Saturday is the busiest day for the exhibition and you almost can't make your way through the crowds. On Friday, the exhibition is quite empty as many people attend the Leadership Forum. On Sunday, many booth give-aways and deals are already gone. Most celebrities (Miculek, R. Lee Ermey, etc.) are typically there on Friday and Saturday. It will typically take you two days to explore the exhibition floor. Have good walking shoes, as you will walk several miles a day. Take a backpack with you for a small snack and soft drink, and for picking up catalogs, give-aways and anything you buy. Carry your firearm! The NRA Annual Meeting is still in Dallas, despite the statements made by Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway. There will be protests. I am not sure how many people will show up for them though. In the past, anti-gun protests were rather tiny. There may also be some protesting in the convention center by NRA members against the NRA Leadership (see the shirt below). I still haven't decided yet if I am going or not and how. The NRA is pissing me off lately and I have seen the exhibition floor now for the last three years. It may be entertaining though if there is any significant protest. Will President Trump speak this year? LOL
  19. I still will not contribute to the NRA. The NRA needs to un#### itself. As a Tennessean you should be aware of the Guns-In-Parks disaster and the NRA's failure and alleged betrayal. For the record, I am a Benefactor Member of the NRA and contributed quite a bit during the election. I stopped when I was informed that the NRA settled their Chilhowee Park gun ban suit. The NRA is busy playing 4D beer pong ("chess not checkers") right now anyway. To translate that to plain English: They are Negotiating your Rights Away with President Trump leading the charge. The fantastic duo, Wayne LaPierre and Chris Cox, green-lighted the bump stock ban.
  20. Thankfully, we have the ALCU to protect due process. LOL. President Trump was never for due process. See his version of the no-fly/no-buy approach. The NRA is for "due process" after the fact, i.e., you get your rights back if you can prove your innocence. LOL. The interesting part for mental health cases is that there is no doctor that will give anyone a clean bill of health to get their guns back.
  21. I agree with pretty much everything you said, except for the issue of the ammunition being fired. His attorney doesn't have to convince the jury that the ammunition wasn't used. The opposing party has to convince the jury that the ammunition was used. If the ammunition wasn't used, then he didn't cause any damage whatsoever to be sued over. If it was used and if he is convicted of illegally manufacturing and/or selling the ammunition, then the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act won't help him.
  22. Your wording is a bit off. If there is proof that not all of the ammunition he sold to the shooter is accounted for, then there is a civil case. According to his lawyer (and apparently the FBI), all of the ammunition sold to the shooter by Douglas Haig is accounted for, i.e., none of it has been shot. The current case against Douglas Haig is disconnected from any person that was shot or injured, hence there are no damages. He is being charged for failing to ask the government if he may manufacture ammunition and sell this ammunition. You may actually want to read the court documents, I posted. So, manufacturing and selling ammunition has nothing to do with the 2A? By the way, Marc Victor is a good criminal defense attorney. Also, 2A cases often involve criminal charges. One contentious point will be the the "armor piercing" ammunition language in the charges filed. Depending on how this is argued and the eventual case is decided upon, this could lead to legal precedence on the legality of "armor piercing" rifle rounds. Want to tell me again how this isn't a 2A case? There may still be a civil case against him filed by the MDA loons, just as Lucky Gunner case. Want to tell me again how this isn't a 2A case?
  23. For reference, here are the court documents. Read and learn! This will get interesting. Also, Douglas Haig has a good 2A lawyer, Marc Victor. It is my understanding that none of his ammunition was used in the attack. So, there won't be any civil suit!
