  1. No experience with this particular rifle but a lot of experience with PCP guns 10 meter sporter class air rifle mostly.  Since you asked about a compressor it sounds like you are starting from scratch in the PCP world.  I know several people that started out using manual pumps, myself included, but you will find that using a manual gets old really fast.   The compressors that fill these are not your standard compressor.  Air pyramid sells them but the good ones start at around $1300.00.  Based on what I pay in the Nashville area the cost of a compressor will equal a 150 + fills of an 80 cf SCUBA tank. During a busy competition season and filling multiple guns I only filled my SCUBA tank 6 times in a year.   I went to the SCUBA tank method and never looked back.  Air Pyramid sells these set ups as well.  I had a lot of people tell me that SCUBA shops would not fill my tank if I did not have a dive certification card but I quickly found out that is not true.  I have purchased from Air Pyramid on several occasions and I can't speak highly enough about their customer service and support.  If in any doubt call them.  My experience was that they can talk you through any thing you don't understand or a problem with something you purchased.

In more straightforward terms, assuming that the 4" at 50 yards quote from Franklin Armory is correct, your 8" at 100 yards math is correct. Your 4 MOA math is not correct.

    I'm with you now CZ9MM

After at least 15 years of being away from shooting highpower rifle my MOA calculating has become a little fuzzy so I just went back for a little refresher. MOA is something that confuses a lot of shooters and even when I understand it I get myself confused.

Here is something I found from Brownells to help others visualize MOA.

    Rounding MOA
    1 MOA @ 100 yards = 1 inch
    1 MOA @ 200 Yards = 2 inch
    1 MOA @ 300 yards = 3 inch
    1 MOA @ 400 Yards = 4 inch
    1 MOA @ 500 yards = 5 inch
    1 MOA @ 600 Yards = 6 inch
    1 MOA @ 700 yards = 7 inch
    1 MOA @ 800 Yards = 8 inch
    1 MOA @ 900 Yards = 9 inch
    1 MOA @ 1000 Yards = 10 inch

Minute of Angle as it applies to group size and drop
MOA is used to measure group sizes. A 1 inch group @ 100 yards is referred to as a 1 MOA group. A 2 inch group @ 100 yards is a 2 MOA group.

Not sure it was worth getting all worked up over the actual MOA of the less than favorable group size of this not a shotgun / not a rifle gimmick firearm but it happens.

4 moa at 50 yards means an 8" group, correct?

    your math is correct!

So after going back and watching the video I was wrong and a correction and further explanation is needed.   First off the Franklin Armory Rep. never uses the term MOA but claims the gun is capable of 4" groups at 50 yards which is probably a best case scenario in the real world.   So at 100 yards this should equate to a 4MOA or 8 inch group

The shop guy told me he thinks it just needs polishing and it should run around $100 to get that done.

Yeah I probably would have jumped on that one if I saw it, very nice.

A Dremel tool, buffing wheels and polishing compound will fix the problem areas and you will get the satisfaction of doing it yourself.

  5. I'm with you KahrMan  in the I want one cataory.  Why, because I don't have one and it just sounds like something I would like to have is why.  It does have some interesting features and the ballistics make it look better.  The only thing is the $$$$.  Looks like the actual cost is running about $3-4 more tan they were projecting 2 years ago.

One or more people shot at a further distance and said the POI vs POA drop was massive

I see where this could become problematic at many local indoor and out door shooting ranges keeping stray bullets contained.

So how long before straight land uppers are being sold so you can build your own at home?

    Soon I'm sure.

But, if a muzzle device is added that causes the projectile to spin in any amount, does it become a rifle?

Did the shooter actually have any way to see where he was firing with this rifle? Or just shoot and pray he hit something?

The rifle has a push button that allows the soldier to lift up on the receiver and down on the stock until it snaps in place firmly. Another button allows it to be stowed. When up, there is a hollow through the now-vertical wrist section. At its base is a polished mirror. Along the left side wrist an extendable, rotating arm holds another mirror, which can be aligned with the rear sight.

Wonder when someone develops a “machine gun” that only fires when the trigger is released or pushed? After all the definition specifically mentions a single PULL of the trigger.

So all this time Browning 50 cals. have been mislabeled. By ATF definition they are not a machine gun!

Coldest I've ever been was a white water kayaking trip to the Tellico River about 20 years ago. The bank clock in Tellico Plains said 9*, and that was down in the valley, it was colder up on the mountain. Weather station said with wind chill it put it at -1*. Water in the rapids would splash on to our dry suits and freeze. Every time you moved your arms the ice would crunch. Those of us with beards had icicles hanging from them.

Still makes me cold just thinking about it.

You my friend are (and I mean this in the nicest terms) nuts.

I've done some things that I look back on now (being much older and just a little wiser) and say, "I must have be nuts when I did that"!

So fess up analog_kidd,  can you honestly say at any point on the way to this venture did you ask yourself, is this really going to be fun?

  11. I did quite a bit of windshield time Saturday in the rural areas where I live.  I saw deer everywhere and some in places I've never seen them before from early morn until late that Saturday night.  Since the cold front has passed and traveling in the same area I've not seen a single deer for three days.
