    Your opinion.

To expand of what Drewsett has said; it is foolish to believe that there is a "literary form" that is "objective". Anyone who thinks more than about 10 seconds about this will understand that there has never been a literary work, news story, play, opera, song, work of fiction, or any other "intellectual musing" that is free of bias and, therefore, full of objectivity. It simply doesnt happen. I will grant that there is a small fraction that may take the "high ground", so to speak, and keep their bias in check. That rarely happens in the newspaper business, however; as Drewsett has so excellently pointed out. When one thinks about anything thoroughly; one cant help but develop an opinion or "bias" for or against an issue or ideal. That is a fact of the human condition. The newspaper industry, those in academia, and other "elite" groups (...polititians are an excellent example...) would have you believe that they do not engage in such "base" ruminations; and, therefore are the real "priests" of "truth and objectivity". The fact is; nothing could be farther from the truth. Given the little bit of musing outlined above; it's a pretty "hard sell" to convince me (...and many others on this forum...) that anyone; no matter how winsome, well-spoken, well-mannered, kind, or comely is; indeed "objective". Objectivity is not a part of the human condition. And, believing all these things, those who purport to "objectively report" on "hot button" issues are viewed with polite suspicion. Food for thought. Leroy
  11. Sadly, there is a great truth contained in this post. Money (...drug and otherwise...) buys lots of friends in lots of places. Keep up the good work! Leroy
  12. Until all the citizens pay taxes in the country, entitlements are few, government spending is responsible, and foreign adventurism is realistic; there will be no appreciable change in the health of our country. This economic stuff aint too hard to grasp; its built on income vs expenditure. You cannot borrow $2, have an $8 income and give out $12 for very long. That is what we are doing. Until a climate is created in this country which espouses fiscal responsibility in government (...and in individuals...), makes work honorable and rewarding (...again, it once was...), shrinks these idiotic bureaucratic regulations (...especially the enviornmental ones...), and creates a climate favorable to business expansion, there will be no prosperity in this country. If we continue the policies of the last 20 or so years; we are doomed to exactly what the British and French are dealing with now. Do i believe polititians will do all these things just because we've had one election that changed the balance of power in the House? -- No. But i believe it's a good start. If the polititians are smart (...and that's a big "if"---); they will start doing exactly what we've been discussing here and will expose (...and politically eliminate, or marginalize...) those who stand in their way, just like Reagan did. If they are not smart; they will do the same ole thing; saying one thing and doing another. The problem with that (...for polititians, at least...) is that it's dangerous now, as the "big media" (...if there is such a thing anymore...) cant effectively supress the truth of things very well. I predict that if the Republicans continue to be polititians instead of conservatives; they will be thrown on the scrapheap of history and morph into the Demorat party. If that happens, the split will be complete. Conservative Libertarian vs Socialist. That is exactly where this country is at this juncture in history. We have been flirting with socialism since Komrade Roosevelt was inagurated in the thirties. It has took us about 80 or so years to come to this "pseudo managed economy" that we have today. All the way, the results have been predictable. A downward spiral. I firmly believe that folks need to get active in this political stuff instead of pontificating and third basing everybody so much; or we all will be (...in a very short while...) a lot poorer and more at risk than we are now. The Tea Party is a step in the right direction. If libertarian ideals (...specifically those of limited government, fiscal responsibility, and individual responsibility; as opposed of this komrade Roosevelt baloney of the "entitlement for the collective good" crap doled out by a "political elite" to us hapless, ignorant serfs---) are not maintained in this country; it is doomed to fail in every possible way, economically and politically. Food for thought. Leroy
  13. Thanks Pegasus! I relember this now. Monroe county is a pretty rustic place (....which aint necessarily a bad thing...). My guess is that LtCmdr. Fitzpatrick is an outsider. In some places, that's a recipe for harsh treatment if you poke the natives with a big enough stick. Ya gotta admire the style; but the choice of location may have been bad. LtCmdr. Fitzpatrick may get a sound thrashing (...legal and physical...) down in Monroe County if he has no kinfolk there. Thanks again. Leroy
  14. Here: North of Polk county and south of Loudoun county right up against the mountains. Leroy
  15. All:____________ What exactly did Ftizpatrick do and what is he charged with? Leroy
  16. Thanks David! I appreciate it! Leroy
  17. Monkey:__________ Thanks for posting this. I THOUGHT i had seen something somewhere else that talked about this issue. Now i remember where it was! Many thanks, Leroy
  18. All:______________ Here is an article that is worth reading from the UK Telegraph no less: Link here: The midterms may have saved a superpower: Americans say no to US decline – Telegraph Blogs. Overall, an excellent article. Leroy
  19. All:_______________ Right here is the core of Rove's problem: Rove is the ultimate "political hack" (...which is ok with me, i tend to be one too ---unlike me, he actually gets paid for his opinions, mine, sadly (...for me at least...) are free...); and he covets the influence of the job of giving advice and council to the most powerful office in the world and the great personal satisfaction that job must bring on a personal basis (...and i fully understand that, it's got to be great...). Rove served a president (...Bush 43...) who had a historic chance to be the most beloved and revered president ever. But, for reasons completely mysterious and reasoning fully uncompreshensible to me, at least...). Bush decided to commit political suicide and murder the Republican Party in the meantime by doing several miserably stupid things. Here they are: He allowed political operatives (...both demorat and republican...) to turn Iraq and afganisgtan into vietnam after he said he wouldnt. That, alone sealed his fate. He (....again for reasons totaly uncomprehensible to me...) he simply would not answer his critics. He chose to ignore them, and that added nails to his coffin. Remember, Reagan politely made fun of his critics and made them look like the bufoons they were. Bush allowed government to grow. Growing government, no matter how noble the cause, is simply not a conservative Republican virtue. He was far closer to a kennedy era Demorat than he is a conservative Republican. Rove had to be a part of all the idiotic decisions outlined above. That (...to me, at least...) says "Bush's Brain" participated in some massive miscalculations. I also think it's important to remember that the Republican Party has factions too. There are conservative Republicans (...like most of us here on this board...) who are not millionaires and have to work for a living. Who believe that the Constitution and the Bill of Rights means exactly what it says, and who believe that government in general is a necessary evil, and that government continually spends too much money on too many stupid things. That stands in stark contrast to the "Blueblood" Republican fatcats (...to borrow the demorat phrase for 'em; a case of the "pot calling the kettle black' in my view...) who do not necessarily share the libertarian values of small government and fiscal responsiblility as the conservatives do. Their view is one of "how can i jerrymander government to help me out on an individual basis?" How can i leverage my influence to help my bottom line? Many times, this "Blueblood" view of the world is in direct cross purpose to the conservative ideals of limited government and fiscal responsibility. The Republicans are in a titanic internal struggle between the "conservatives" and the "bluebloods". If the "bluebloods" win; they will finish what Rove and the Bushes started (...with the help of McCain and others...); --- the "Final Solution" to the Republican party --- it's complete destruction. The Republicans would do well to quit listening to folks like Rove and putting up "open minded" reasonable candidates. They need exactly what the Tea Party has brought to American Politics. A real, genuine conservative world view, complete with regular folks like Palin who aren't ivy league know-it-alls; but real people. If the Republicans dont completely embrace a conservative agenda. They will be the next bunch to go; and Rove and company will really know what it means to be unemployed political pundits. Rove needs to make up with Palin and the real republicans and shut up. That may save his job. That's how i see things this morning. Radical Libertarian Leroy PS--- THANKS FOR POSTING THIS NEAT ARTICLE AR!! KEEP UP THER GOOD WORK!
  20. Thanks Carbon! I'll start saving my pennies and mabee bust the piggy bank open. Thanks again, leroy
  21. I think you are exactly right. Those that worship the "god of money" worry the most about offending any potential customer, no matter how nutty or foolish. My guess is that they figure the loss in revenue from a relatively small group (...hunters and gun owners...) is offset by the "political correctness" and gratitude that it engenders in the weenies that may like the idea of "no guns and no ammo". Leroy
  22. Carbon:_________________ Thanks for the feedback. Is the IOR good and bright optically down toward twilight? How does it do at nite with the lighted reticle? I've never looked thru one. I suspect that with the glass they use; they are extremely clear and bright. We've got an EOTec on our H-BAR, and i agree with your assessment. I really like it. I'm thinkin about rolling the dice and buying one of the IOR's because the price is about $200 bucks, and we dont have an "Aimpoint" type setup on anything. The IOR price flogs both EOTec and Aimpoint by over half. The IOR stuff may be the ticket for a less expensive reddot that is real high quality and tough to boot. They might be the ticket for a shotgun too. If they can stand the bushmaster, they will probably be alright for the shotgun. Many thanks, Leroy
  23. David:__________ OK with me: You can do it your way; its ok with me. I still believe the whole caliber thing is a "tempest in a teapot". All the major calibers are killers in the right hands. It is my personal belief that to learn about mayhem and killing, you need to go to the killers. I do not believe that the police data are the ultimate authority. They simply dont shoot and hit enough folks to have a good feel for what's going on. In their defense, they to wear out looking at it and rehashing it. RE: Military stuff: You just made my point again; military stuff is limited by treaty to solid rounds . We have better stuff today. The germans used solid round nose 124 or 125 grain bullets 70 years ago and killed everybody in their way until they froze to death. We have a better choice of ammo today if it's loaded hot enough to penetrate what you are shooting at. The point is that all this stuff has worked; and is still working in the right hands. RE: Commmie coats. I agree. The commie coats were probably thicker and tougher than the "hoodlum" coats of today (...unless they have vests...). To each his own. Leroy
  24. Daddy O:____________ Lotsa dead commies in eastern europe in WW2. Lots of em wearin big coats. Like you; i'm skeptical of the "pundits". The military is the place to look if you want to see whow this stuff works on a day in day out basis. Leroy
  25. Warbird:____________ I love this!! You know it drives the "safety" weenies wild and gives the defense lawyers apoplexy!! Ive heard of this solution too (...i like it...). In the "good ole days" you could have a gunsmith drill and pin the grip safety down too. I doubt you could get anyone to do it anymore. I like the Texas Ranger solution myself. Keep up the good work. Leroy
