  1. Hey y'all. This is not my thread, not my trailer, and not my restored military vehicles. Just saw this and wanted to let y'all know. Steel Soldiers::Military Vehicles Supersite
  2. I do still have them in the slots, I'll move them and see what happens. I usually wear it between 7 and 8 oclock (lefty), but my issue seems to be the amount of forward cant. It seems like it's way too much, as anytime I move it causes the butt of the gun to dig into my ribs. I currently have the rear clip in the high hole, and the front in the low hole. If I adjust the holster to where it feels comfortable, the front clip is about 1/2" above sitting on the waist of my pants. All that said, I'm still working with it. This is my first quality IWB holster, still getting used to it.
  3. I've got a lot of SureFire lights, and have always wondered about their knives. I'm sure they're great, but there might be something better in that price range, that non-knife enthusiasts might not know about. That said, that knife is on my "One of these days" list, right behind the (non Surefire) Battle Mug.
  4. Like the other folks here, we're praying for you and your family. The doctors told my grandmother that she had about a year to live. That was four years ago, and she's still here. I don't mean to inspire a false sense of security, but only to point out that the doctors can get it wrong, too. The Lord didn't ask them for their timeline.
  5. Oh Shoot, what made you switch the clips back? I just got a Dual Carry for my P30, and for some reason I've found the supplied clips, in either position, put the gun in a very uncomfortable position. I was considering trying the modified C-Tac clips similar to what yours look like. Just wondering what you thought of them.
  6. I'm looking for some advice. I've never worked with Kydex, and I really don't want to melt/ misshape a good holster. I've got the Aholster pocket holster for a 642. It's great, but my 642-2 has a slightly longer barrel than the standard 642. The issue is the bottom of the holster, where it 'necks down' at the end of the barrel. If it remained the full size, it would be perfect. The end of my barrel, when the gun is pushed all the way into the holster, lense up perfectly with the edge of the holster. However, since the holster is 'shrunk' down about 3/16 of an inch back from the egde, the holster is wearing horribly on the end of the barrel and continually tries to slide off the end of the barrel. I want to re-mold the edge of the holster to expand it to be the same size as the rest of the barrel slot. All I can find about working with Kydex, though, seems to involve heating and forming an entire sheet in a press. I don't want to do that, as the holster already has the shape it needs. Are there any tricks or tips to just heating and molding one section of the holster? Do I need to be concerned about getting any melted plastic on the gun? I'm envisioning I can just push the gun all the way into the holster, then heat the area where the holster sizes down and squeeze it to the shape I want. Opinions?
  7. I used two 2x10 boards on a 2x4 frame for the top of my bench. Solid, and not too expensive.
  8. You mean there's a family that doesn't? I can't say too much about your situation, but I'm just up the road from ya. Give me a shout if you just want to grab a beer one night and shoot the bull.
  9. Nice looking bike, but I'm not really a two wheel kind of guy. Can we get a full picture of the Pete? The fenders had me think Kenworth W-9, would love to see the whole truck.
  10. As of right now, I don't know. But I'd be willing to bet a few may pop up before long. I know if I was there, I'd be hunting for a good machine shop. I keep telling the better half that one day we'll have 800 acres in the middle of nowhere in Montana...thus far, the response has been "You might, but I'll still be right here..."
  11. I love the idea, but it seems like there's a lot going on on that card. If it were me, I'd remove the credit card logos. Cash gets the point across, maybe with a $ symbol. Likewise, it would be a good idea to provide the web address of the anti gun business database on the card. As it is, it still sounds somewhat vague. I'd omit the personal contact information too, the database link would take care of that. Really, I think you could do just as well without any database mention at all. The message seems clear and to the point, too much extra information and it might get lost. But just from a semantics point, you might consider changing the "You should consider your Gun Free policy" to "...Your Anti- Gun policy", or something else with a negative connotation. To me, "free" carries a good note. Drug free, rust free, fat free, etc...besides, the policy won't prevent guns in the establishment. As you put on the card, criminals won't pay the sign any attention.
  12. I don't see it as a huge thing. He's going to vote however he's going to vote, regardless of party. From what I understand, he's switching because he doesn't want to risk losing the Republican primary to a real conservative, like he almost did last election. I just want to see if he turns out to be "Too conservative" for the Democratic primary, or if he wins the primary then loses the main election to a conservative.
  13. The follower is in reasonably good shape, no big nicks. I haven't looked at the gun lately, I didn't realize that I could replace just that part. I'll try to get a picture of the problem in the next few days, will need to shoot it.

    Camping Areas

Last time I was there, I believe Virgin Falls Pocket Wilderness was privately owned by a timber company. I don't believe it is an official 'park' where carry would be prohibited. But, it's been several years and I don't recall if it is posted. If it is, I'd be willing to bet it's not posted correctly, for what that's worth. *EDIT* I stand corrected. According to http://www.tnvacation.com/vendors/virgin_falls_pocket_wilderness_area/ Virgin Falls is designated a "State and National Recreational Trail". I don't know if that carries the same no guns ruling as a park, I'd be interested to find out. I'd guess that it does. *Edit #2* It was purchased by the State in 1996. Been a State Natural Area since well before I went, turns out. http://www.state.tn.us/environment/na/natareas/virgin/
  15. I believe that you would be okay to return at a later date as long as they didn't post in the mean time, but why would you want to? The number one thing is, if you're asked to leave, leave! There are other places to buy groceries, eat supper, etc...

+1 Virgin Falls is incredible. I've done it a few times, and would like to go again. I'd recomend doing it in late winter/ early spring. I did it in September once, and while it was still impressive, the water supply and the falls were about 50% of what they were when I've done in in January. Lots of downed, dead wood for fires, lots of relatively clean drinking water. I'd run it through a filter just in case, though. The caves are impressive, but take a pair of sandals. Sheeps cave is usually 6 to 8" deep in running water, and it's dark. Take a couple of good flashlights, or a headlamp. Likewise, the big cave behind the main fall is impressive, but -be careful-. The rocks in there are slick and sharp. I'd definitely recommend it, though.
  17. Does not do it every time, I'd say 3 out of 5. Turning the follower in the tube doesn't make a difference.
  18. I've got an old Marlin/ Glenfield model 60 that's giving me an issue. I've had this rifle for a long, long time and it's done this since I got it used. The issue is, when you turn the magazine tube to unlock it and pull it out, the little red magazine follower gets pushed up and catches in the feed mechanism. It doesn't take much to fix, just use a knife blade to push the follower toward the butt of the rifle and then down. Any ideas how to fix it?
  19. I carry 124 grain +P Gold Dots in mine.
  20. Uhm...interesting title for the thread.
  21. I believe the hole is simply due to the type of rivet/ fastener used to hold the lower side of the holster together.
  22. A friend of mine uses First Tennessee, but after they failed to transfer money between his accounts twice (he had a transfer receipt both times), I have to admit I'm less than impressed.
  23. Alright, Middle TN folks...what bank do you use? I've been with US Bank for about five years now, and I'm ready to change. Horrible service, along with corporately supporting things I disagree with. I'd like to go with a smaller, more local or regional bank. Any suggestions?
  24. I got one yesterday. Not too excited about the badge, but I can get a George Washington Second Amendment Rights Medal! It even comes with a real, honest Certificate signed by the President of AFP&CC himself! Now, it says I need to send in $35.00 plus shipping to get my medal, but I can not for the life of me find where it says how many box tops I need to include. If y'all know, please tell me. I have to act fast, because supplies are limited! Due to the current political situation, I may have to allow 6 to 8 weeks for delivery. I guess there are just so many of us Second Amendment Rights Medal winners that they just can't keep up.
  25. Just a note, I've got that exact phone pouch. The piece of webbing behind the belt slide is bad about tearing loose from the body of the pouch on one side. Need to fix mine, there's only about 1/4" still holding right now. A good idea nontheless. Not sure if this has been mentioned, but it is only three bucks, after all.
