  1. The game is on 452 on Dish Network, not one of the package channels. It's going to be a really tough game from here on out. Detroit is an incredible team, and they're capable of scoring six goals in the next two periods. Finishing a game, even a losing game, against the Wings with 5 goals would be impressive. Winning a game with 5 would be really impressive. But five goals after one period? WOW! Interesting sidenote: If Detroit were to win the game, and hold us to 5 points, it would tie the greatest comeback in NHL history, from what I've read. Lets go Preds!
  2. Not sure how many hockey fans are on here, but the Predators are UP 5-0 over Detroit at the end of the first period.
  3. I'm having a hard time figuring out what model they might be. My book doesn't list a Rossi with a 2.5 inch barrel, only 2 or 3". Are they single or double action? Are the hammers exposed?
  4. If you can post what they are (model, condition) I can look them up in my Blue Book for you. However, I'd suggest you check what similar guns are selling for on gunbroker, Auction Arms, etc to get a feel for current market value.
  5. We got there today around noon. Took a while to find parking, then there was about a 5-10 minute wait in line to get in. It was crowded, to say the least. I saw several vendors and private sellers with LCPs, and a few KelTecs. Prices ran the gamut, I saw a couple of Marlin 30-30s that seemed reasonable (I almost bought one), but most stuff was overpriced.
  6. Scrap prices here are far less than half of what they were last year. They tanked around the first of September, and have seemed to slide since. I believe it's currently well below $30 a ton, though this time last year it was almost 200. I'd sell it.
  7. We're Broadcasting's Biggest Joke. I grew up right outside Lexington, my parents still live there. I'm not surprised to hear this from them.
  8. Just talked to my friend, we'll be there probably sometime on Saturday. I'll probably have an SKS, and possibly a Glock for sale, and I'm looking for an H&K P30 in 9mm. If you see a young guy in a Stihl cap, say hi. Gearyr, I've been to The Reloader's Bench, but not recently. Not since I got my loading stuff and started reading my manuals. I imagine I'll be back there soon.
  9. Thinking about going, have to call my buddy and see if he's up for it. I'd like to find some reloading components, but I get the feeling I can probably get them cheaper somewhere else.
  10. Surplus, though not necessarily Turkish, seems to be running .25-.27 cents per round, according to gun-deals.com.
  11. I don't understand why we keep hearing about race, from people who claim that race shouldn't matter. If the folks talking about this stuff truly believe that it doesn't matter, why do they keep bringing it up?
  12. It's on Highway 41 in Greenbriar, which is just north of Nashville.
  13. Not sure how close you are to a UPS hub, but they should accept it there. My local UPS Store told me that they can't ship some things (like guns or ammunition) through the store, but if you carry the item to a UPS hub they'll accept it there. Perhaps scheduling a pickup, and giving it directly to a driver would be the way to go.
  14. Thanks for the advice. I've ordered two manuals, along with the Lee 4 hole turret press kit. I believe the kit will come with a case trimmer, though I'll probably upgrade at some point. What would y'all recommend for a scale, to replace the one in the Lee kit? What about a good, reliable caliper? I'm still in the process of setting up my loading area, so it will probably be a few weeks before I'm ready to turn out any loads. That oughta give me time to read through the loading manuals before I even set up the press. I'm planning to start out loading .30 Carbine, are there any particular things I need to know about loading that caliber? Thanks!
  15. I've been thinking about reloading for a while, looking at various kits, reading, etc. I'm almost done with my reloading room, and am ready to order my first equipment. I wanted to run it by y'all first to see what I might want to change. I plan on loading mostly .45 and .30 carbine, but eventually moving on to .308 and .223. I'm looking at the Lee Turret Press Deluxe starter kit. Is there any reason to purchase the four hole over the three? I understand the scale is rather disappointing, what would y'all recommend to replace it? I'm looking at the Hornady 7th edition manual, what are some good companion manuals to go with it? I already have the ABCs of Reloading. What else, aside from dies and a tumbler, am I missing? I believe I can prime the brass on the turret press, but does a hand primer really make that much of a difference? Thanks
  16. This was the first show I've been to since September, I think. We got there late, around 2:00. No line to get in, but it was pretty full. I guess all the decent deals were gone by then, saw mostly overpriced ammo and some surprisingly expensive guns. Saw a Cetme for 675, which didn't seem too awful, didn't see any AK for less than 500, and only one AR under 1,000. 7.62x54 was 119 per tin. I saw two AR-10s, one was marked 2100 or so and the other the individual said he'd have to have at least 2,000 in he were to sell it. I know there are variants, but I saw a DPMS in GFA for about 1300 a week or so ago. All in all, not a bad way to spend an afternoon. My buddy bought 500 rounds of .223 for 200 bucks, and I looked at a bunch of possible carry guns.
  17. If you buy from a dealer, it is exactly like buying from a gun store. They do the background check, the form, etc. If you buy from an individual, it's just like you bought one from an average guy. Not sure what you mean by 'take trades' Some dealers will, some won't. You can bring a gun in and carry it around, and either sell or trade it to someone, if you want. You don't have to be a licensed dealer to sell or trade.
  18. Hmm...read all that and found myself thinking "Am I the only one who went to work?" Went to a customer this morning, serviced one truck, dispatcher called and I had to rush back to our shop to handle a job. I got there, and my buddy had already arrived and almost finished it. Ah well.
  19. Funny, that's the exact same thing I plan on doing. Going down with a buddy tomorrow, probably show up around 11:00. The last one I went to in Franklin was several months ago (pre-election). I'm not planning to buy anything, but you know how that goes. I mainly want to handle some of the guns I'm thinking about buying for a new primary carry.
  20. The Dell facility in Nashville, to the best of my knowledge, does mainly distribution. The Lebanon facility (or what's left of it) does computer builds, though I don't know if they're new or rebuilding them.
  21. I think they just sit 'loose' in the barrel, and are held in place by velcro-ing to the top of the safe.
  22. I did hear that Phil Bredesen was on Obama's short list for a Health and Human Services thing. It was down to him or the governor from Kansas, and she'd stated a month or so ago that she did not want to leave her current position.
  23. Aye, lots of good info on CPF. SureFire may seem overpriced compared to some, but rest assured the service and quality is worth every penny. I've dealt with their customer service twice in about four years, and both times have been completely satisfied. As for bright enough, the average 60 lumen Surefire light is plenty to temporarily light up or blind an aggressor. Don't count on more than a few seconds, though. Another note on a 'defense' light is that multi- mode lights may not be the best choice. In a high stress, time sensitive situation, you don;t want to have to click your way through 5 or 6 levels to get to 'high'. There's a certain value to the simple, single mode incandescent light. Push button, really bright light turns on. While not perfect for every day usage, the KISS principle comes to mind for any type of defense.
  24. It would make for interesting radio, that's for sure.

    H&K P2000

I appreciate all the input. My current carry gun is a Glock 36. I haven't had any real issues with it, but I'm looking for something different. I'm not sold on the .40 caliber, either. In fact, my only handgun experience has been with .45, so I really want to shoot whatever type of gun I wind up with before I buy it. I've not yet looked at any HK other than the P2000, because that was all the shop had in stock. I'm going to try and get up to Guns N Leather sometime next week and see what they have. What impressed me with the P2000 was the fit in my hand. It was great. Likewise, I really liked the length and overall size of the gun, though I don't recall how it compared in width to my Glock. I'm a lefty, so I could get used to the ambi slide and magazine release pretty easy, too.
