About an inch here in Kingsport/Colonial Heights/Rock Springs area and still coming down.
  2. Alabama 24 Florida 10
  3. No offense, but gun accidents are actually not very common at all in the grand scheme of things. There were 214 accidental gun deaths amongst children nationwide in 1999, and this counts 18 and 19 year olds as children. They are all tragic, but there are much greater concerns out there. News agencies simply don't report children dying from a fall, motor vehicle accident, fire, or drowning the same way they do an accidental shooting, even though each of those causes of death is much more prevalent. A neighbor's swimming pool is statistically a much more serious threat to a child's life than a neighbor's gun.
  4. That listing has to be a joke, right? As bad as what can be seen in the pictures looks, I'm actually kind of curious what the parts that CAN'T be seen look like.
  5. You can still take the safety course in TN without applying for a permit.
  6. Florida and Tennessee do have reciprocity agreements with each other. Tennessee HCP holders can carry in Florida, subject to Florida's carry laws, and vice versa.
  7. 2012 can't come soon enough.
  8. Easily a hundred bucks a wolf.
  9. I would definitely send it back to Sig and have them fix it. Since it is only a couple of weeks old, you might want to try and take it back to the shop you bought it from and see if they might be able to help you out
  10. Whoever is responsible for this fiasco should be ashamed of themselves. When are we going to get past this notion that enemy combatants, who not only kill our servicemen and women but also innocent civilians in foreign countries, deserve the same rights as American citizens do in America? Trying not to be the bad guy in a war will get people killed.
  11. Titan14 is right. No good can come of a 1911 addiction. On a serious note though. It's really not much different than your run of the mill tupperware pistol, except that it is single action only instead of striker fired. It has a grip safety and a thumb safety. You chamber a round and leave the hammer cocked with the safety on until you are ready to shoot. It won't go bang unless you hold the grip, unlock the safety, and pull the trigger.
  12. Yeah, I know. It almost seems as though logic has no place in our legal system, doesn't it?
  13. You are probably right. But logically, you would think it should help(even though I know it wouldn't). Fair warning.
  14. I've gotta say, I'm a little disappointed that he didn't. I just can't fathom how someone could gaze upon such a thing of beauty, available for sale no less, and not purchase it at any price. Even if someone had been wearing it at the time, I would have still had to at least make an offer. Beautiful, but in a strong, rugged, and manly way. Absolutely breathtaking.
  15. As far a public places to shoot about the only option is the Sciota range in the Cherokee National Forest near Erwin. There are quite a few private ranges around though.
  16. That is ridiculous and was clearly written with a definite bias against the RKBA. It's hard to believe that a Constitutional law book could consider 3 of the 10 Amendments in the Bill of Rights to have "limited importance". If this is the way lawyers and judges are educated, you can see why they make some of the insane decisions that they do.
  17. That video was very informative. Thanks for posting it.
  18. That was outstanding. Thanks for posting it.
  19. I am not a fan of either team and wouldn't be going even if I could afford it. I agree with Sgt. Joe. I think Alabama is a little better than Florida this year. It should be a great game though and I think turnovers and penalties will decide the winner.
  20. Thanks very much for the offer Mark. I just might take you up on that sometime.
  21. Highly regarded is just a perception that people have of a product. It's not necessarily scientific and may not even be accurate. I have never shot a Remington Rand, so I have no opinion of whether or not they are better than others of the era. But, for whatever reason, they are highly regarded. I will say though that, regardless of what parts are used, assembly is everything with 1911s.
  22. I'm sorry OhShoot, I respect you and don't really want to argue with you. But you are incorrect. I am not assuming all 4% of HCP holders will eat at a restaurant that serves alcohol every day. I am assuming that there is an equal chance that any individual who has an HCP permit will eat out on a given day as there is any other individual member of the population will eat out on a given day.
  23. This is incorrect. There would be an exactly equal chance that 8 of the 100 patrons would be permit holders as there would be that 0 of the 100 patrons were permit holders. The average would always be 4%, assuming that 4% of the population has a permit and that permit holders are statistically just as likely to patronize a restaurant on any given day as non permit holders. This should be a safe assumption.
  24. Actually, you would be looking at 4% every day. I'm not aware of any studies done on the subject, but I would think the odds of a permit holder eating at a restaurant on any given day would be virtually identical to the odds that any other member of the population would. It would theoretically effect daily closeouts by 4%. If they made $500/day, then yes it would be $20. I am unaware of any study that says that there are more people who do not want guns in restaurants than those who do. Could you link to this study? I have seen numerous, admittedly unscientific, polls that say exactly the opposite. Even though these polls are unscientific, they would at least seem to indicate that those who are very strongly pro-gun outnumber those who are very strongly anti-gun, as these two groups are the most likely to participate in such a poll.I would imagine, though I really don't know, that there would be more people on the pro-gun side of this issue that would actually make their dining choices based on whether or not guns are allowed. I agree that the vast majority probably don't care one way or the other. But I think there are more people who are strongly pro-gun than who are strongly anti-gun in Tennessee. Once again, for a boycott to be successful, it would require that ALL permit holders, along with their friends and families(bringing the number to perhaps 10%), participate. This obviously will not happen. Though I believe that it is a noble idea.
