  1. She was either a friend of someone important or this was a quota hire of some sort and competence wasn't one of the requirements.
  2. This sounds just like something a cat person would say.
  3. You're not wrong, but as I've refined my grip over the years I've noticed that I can slap the trigger all I want and the point of impact stays true with point of aim. A proper grip will keep trigger manipulation of almost any sort from disturbing the point of impact. Years ago I had read something from Rob Latham about this very thing and wrongly assumed that it was Rob being superhuman. Once I got my grip right, I realized that he was just speaking truth. Proper grip fixes almost everything.
  4. Yes, if you are a right-handed shooter you want more squeeze from your support (left) hand. This is more noticeable with a dot optic on your gun, but you can notice even in in dry-firing that if you squeeze more with your dominant (right) hand, your point of impact will shift toward the left when you break the trigger with your finger. If you release some pressure with your dominant hand, your point of impact won't move much or any. When I dry fire, I watch what my dot is doing. If it moves ANY, I know I didn't form my grip properly.
  5. @62caster - This video is worth watching. It takes some reps to get the procedure down, but once you do it's solid and adapts to practically any semi-auto handgun. Bear in mind that that there is some off-color language in this video. If you've got kids around, maybe wait or listen with headphones.
  6. These folks are very much worth supporting. They sue the crap out of the government all the time. Firearms Policy Coalition There's more about them here: About FPC - Firearms Policy Coalition
  7. Something is better than nothing, I suppose, but a belt is a very poor substitute for a legitimate tourniquet. Carrying a CAT or SOF-T tourniquet is recommended. I have low tolerance for the RATS tourniquets even though people I know who should know better still swear by them. Again, something is better than nothing, but the RATS design is as useful/useless as a belt.
  8. For Sale: Holosun 407K-GR-X2 Green Dot Optic I am offering up for sale one Holosun 407K-GR-X2 GREEN DOT optic. This optic is used but in very good condition and is approximately 6-months old. I bought it for use on a Sig P365XL but moved on to a different platform. There are a few very small cosmetic blemishes on the body of the optic. These are clearly called out in the photos that you will find below. They are the natural result of the optic being mounted to a firearm that was carried from time to time. The lens, electronics, emitter, etc. are all in superb condition and the sight works flawlessly and holds zero perfectly. The optic includes everything that it came with from the factory. If it's not shown in the photos, it isn't included. Specifications from Holosun: Source: HE407K-GR X2-Holosun The HE407K-GR X2 is an open reflex optical sight designed for concealed carry pistol applications. The X2 Series pistol optics feature two improvements. First is the addition of Lock Mode from our 2018-2019 LE pistol optic models. Lock Mode, when activated, locks the buttons preventing inadvertent setting changes. Second, the buttons have been redesigned to compliment the Lock Mode by placing them lower and out of the way. Additional features include Holosun’s Super Green LED with up to 50k hours battery life, and Shake Awake. Reticle: 6 MOA Dot Reticle Color: Green Parallax Free: Yes Magnification: 1x Power Source: Battery Battery Type: CR1632 Battery Life (Hours): 50000 Brightness Setting: 10 DL (Daylight) & 2 NV (Night Vision) Window Size (in): 0.58x0.77 Dimension (in) 1.6x0.98x0.95 Weight (oz): 1 Housing Material: 7075 T6 Aluminum Surface Finish: Anodize Adjustment per Click: 1 MOA Submersion: IP67 Terms of Sale: PRICE: $175.00 shipped to you in the lower 48 US States. If you are in AK or HI, you will need to pay actual shipping costs. Payment must be in the form of PayPal Goods & Services. I am not available to meet you in person to sell this. Sorry. Too busy. More Photos! Here are more photos of the actual optic. Again, I have clearly called out the blemishes on the aluminum body. This optic is very tiny, so these marks are also VERY tiny. If it's not circled in red, it's not a blem - it's dust.
  9. Most things worth doing aren't easy. An incoming chief will have to fix this the old-fashioned way: hard work.
  10. After watching the video, and lacking any additional evidence that might not be disclosed yet, my opinion is that the police officers who beat this man to death should face the death penalty and that their date with the executioner should not be delayed any more than is necessary. Officers who didn't contribute to his injuries but neglected to stop the others who were beating him should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I didn't agree with the way that the public reacted to most of the things that occurred over the past 2-3 years, but on this one I think that the public is justified in burning the Memphis Police Department to the ground. Figuratively and literally.
  11. John Harris at the TFA posted this blog entry today. It's an interesting read. Memphis police conduct and the law of self-defense - Tennessee Firearms Association Frankly, I have a feeling that a citizen who rightfully used deadly force to defend himself or herself from police officers would probably not live long enough to make it to the hospital. Multiple, armed, assailants wearing body armor and beating your ass does not present a scenario where the odds are in your favor. I find it more than a little ironic that a citizen wearing body armor during the commission of a crime receives additional charges because of the armor. I wonder, does that apply to the police as well?
  12. Nah. The only thing we don't appreciate is when people come here and carpet bomb us with promotions for fledgling sites, trying to seed the ground. Pistol-Forum is well established, just like AR15.com, Arfcom, etc. but with perhaps a higher degree of quality content for the practical shooter.
  13. The thread in question is over on Pistol-Forum.com. If y'all aren't already members there, you're missing out on some excellent information in general. PF was started quite some time ago by a gentleman named Todd Louis Green. Todd unfortunately passed away a few years ago, but PF continues on thanks to the dedication of others.
  14. Good video! I'm a little shocked that she went there with the commentary about Glocks while talking to another vendor... but he took it in stride.
  15. I am very interested in picking one up for myself. I'll keep you posted, if I do.
  16. Let's get this out of the way: Yes, Taurus. While they have rightfully received a lot of criticism over the years for producing firearms of questionable quality and reliability, in 2021 they made the wise decision to hire Caleb Giddings, a competitive shooter, US Air Force veteran, and gun-industry insider, to act as their US Marketing Manager. The infusion of good ideas and product design feedback from "one of us" seems to have been good for them as their new generation of revolvers is reportedly genuinely worth considering. People that I have grown to trust the experiences and opinions of are almost all saying the same thing: "These guns are good to go." Now, while your brain contorts to rectify that against the old adage Fool Me Once, here are some neat new blasters to make the struggle even realer. From Caleb Giddings' post on Facebook... 18. SOLD: Guardian Tactical "Recon-040" OTF Automatic Knife Hey TGO! I am offering up this virtually brand new Guardian Tactical Recon-40 out the front automatic knife and hoping that someone here will give it a new home. More photos follow at the very end of this post. The blade, activation button and pocket clip are finished in a weathered/worn black-wash finish designed to look good over time and hide the normal marks that come from carry and use. Fortunately for you, this knife has only been carried a few times and has never been used to cut anything. The edge on this blade is factory fresh and untouched. It's never seen so much as a strop and hasn't even cut open a single Amazon box. There are a few small "snail trails" on the left-hand side of the handle from where the clip was previously positioned for left-handed carry. I've done my best to show those marks in the photos, but they are only visible from a specific angle and with good lighting. Most folks might overlook them entirely. This knife has a Lifetime Warranty through Guardian Tactical. They warranty it for the life of the knife, not specific to the buyer. Here is what the Internet says about the knife: The Recon-040 is a modern and innovative, full-sized, tactical, double-action, out-the-front automatic. With patented steel thumb slide base and floating blade construction the Recon-040 is smooth and reliable in its operation while having minimal play and a rock solid feel. This version comes with a dark stonewashed, plain, single edge Elmax blade, black handle and matching hardware. Blade: Coming in at 4-inchs plus, the drop point blade sports a razor sharp, hollow grind with plain cutting edge and unsharpened top swedge. The fullers add visual appeal and pair well with the rugged, wear-hiding and non-reflective dark stonewashed finish. The blade operates on an innovative and patented floating mechanism that prevents undue wear on the blade as well as delivering a smooth, drag-free operation. Push the top slide, which rides smoothly on bearings and a non-magnetic stainless steel plate, and the blade deploys and retracts with a decisive action. Handle: Black hard anodized, aircraft grade aluminum houses the blade and automatic mechanism with subtle finger contours and strategic milling on the sides for a solid, secure grip. At over 5.5 inches in length the Recon 040 has plenty of real estate for even the largest of gloved hands. Construction is completed with black Torx hardware, lanyard hole and hardened steel glass breaker pommel end. Carries via a reversible, tip down only pocket clip. Bohler Elmax: Elmax has become an extremely popular choice for high-end user grade knives thanks to its extreme edge retention. Elmax also has a good corrosion resistance, meaning most users can avoid corrosion (rust) by simply wiping off their blade after each use. Another great feature of this steel is its ability to resist burr formation during sharpening. Elmax has very similar performance to M390 and is used interchangeably by manufacturers. Specifications Overall Length: 9.75" Blade Length: 4.06" Sharpened Length: 3.81" Blade Thickness: 0.15" Blade Material: Elmax Blade Type: Stainless Closed Length: 5.69" Handle Thickness: 0.55" Handle Material: Aluminum Clip: Stainless Steel Weight: 6.20 oz. Country of Manufacture: United States Terms of Sale Sale price is $325. This includes shipping to the lower 48 US states. Retail price is $389 at GPKnives.com. They have consistently been the cheapest place to buy these but are currently out of stock. If you're in AK or HI, you'll need to talk with me about postage. What you see is what you get. Nothing is hidden or altered in these photos. It is up to you to know and adhere to knife laws in your jurisdiction. Autos are legal to own and carry in Tennessee. Payment needs to be PayPal. As promised, here are more photos. If you click them, you will get a larger version. (^^ These are the snail trails that I mentioned) (^^ The discoloration near the clip here is just oil from the knife and handling.)
  19. @Ramiro - Message sent. This slide is still available, folks.
  20. Yes. Ironhandjohn - TNGunOwners.com
  21. This is unsatisfactory. His friends and relatives have my sincere condolences. Based on the evidence provided, I've moved John's account to In Memoriam status. Folks, I hate it when this happens, but it is supremely helpful to me when news of these events is shared here on TGO. I'm able to do some minor clerical work and cancel any automatic renewal of Benefactor memberships so that those dealing with estates do not have to worry about a surprise charge against a bank account. RIP, John.
  22. Yep, will do. I've been away for the holiday weekend, so apologies for the delay.
  23. Send me a PM and let's chat. I'm OK selling it out of state but we'll have to do it in a way that is mutually safe for the both of us.
