  1. But Mr. Rogers was a LRRP! I know because I read it on the internet!
  2. +1 We got ourselves a 50" Samsung after Christmas last year, and until football season (Dallas Cowboys/UT Vols), I probably didn't watch the thing 10 hours. All I ever watch anyway (except football season) is a little MMA fighting and sometimes Outdoor Channel on Wednesday nights.
  3. Don't forget Captain Kangaroo--he was Lee Marvin's commanding officer on Iwo Jima, I believe (correct me if I'm wrong).
  4. Whichever one works for the most people. Hang out and shoot IDPA, or simply hang out and eat. Typically, I get off work too late to make the matches, but I can usually be there for a 7 pm meet-n-eat. In fact, it's rare that I shoot at all during the week, but I'm off work today. I will be there tonight (for the IDPA match). If anybody is there tonight, I'll be the lefty in the green vest.

  6. Better yet, meet on the last Friday night of the month and catch (or at least watch) RUSA's last-Friday-of-the-month IDPA match. They shoot every Tuesday night and, you guessed it, the last Friday of each month.
  7. Ahh--will investigate tomorrow. Thanks for the tip.
  8. 7 pm would work for me
  9. Do either of you know how old the Glock is in your pics? Manufacture date, generation two or three? Just curious. Also, I confirmed today that an M&P CAN be dryfired and then field stripped. However, I also found the sear deactivator that was mentioned earlier. My friend apparently didn't read his owner's manual, and didn't know he could do this. The only problem was that he didn't have anything to do it with except his keys, and they were all too rounded to grip the thing.
  10. I just stumbled across this section...anybody planning a March or April meeting at RUSA?
  11. I'll see him tomorrow and figure out what he's doing. Thanks for the pic.
  12. Hmmm...haven't thought of that; I assumed he meant some gadget on the outside of the frame. That's why I wish I had the gun in my hands--maybe I could get to the bottom of this.
  13. Not sure if this is good for the gun or not, but try to dryfire it AFTER locking the slide back and maybe flipping a takedown latch? This is what I think he says he does. He said he didn't know anything about a sear deactivator.
  14. Where is the sear deactivation lever? I wish I had my friend's gun with me so I could figure out where it is.
  15. The prize table is getting more and more impressive: http://www.memphis-ssa.com/idpasponsors.pdf
  16. The New York 1 trigger spring, with stock connector, produces a trigger pull weight of ~8 pounds. The New York 2 with stock connector produces ~12 pounds. The NY1 with 3.5 connector produces ~5-5.5 pounds (about the same as stock), but feels slightly more DA revolver-like, and has a more pronounced reset. The stock trigger spring w/ 3.5 connector produces ~4.5 pounds. Like many, I messed around with the NY1 and different connectors, but ended up going back to the stock setup.
  17. Comp-Tac if you like kydex. http://www.comp-tac.com/
  18. I bet Neero is right--the target carriers get blasted enough when people are trying to hit center mass. Head shots batter the target carriers at one local range, and they even have a sign requesting that you refrain from headshots.
  19. What did you not like about the Rangemaster class? Who was your instructor/instructors? I've never taken any classes at RangeUSA, but I know a few who have. Most people that take the carry permit class seem to get a lot more out of it when they go to Rangemaster.
  20. Mars, FWIW, I had a second generation Glock 23 (made in Oct. 92) before my current third generation 23 (made in 05), and there is a definite difference in chamber size. Glock seems to have tightened up the chamber along the way, but it remains to be seen if it's enough. Also, the New York trigger springs add weight if desired (8 or 12 pounds), and take three minutes to put in. A friend has an M&P 9mm WITHOUT the magazine disconnect, and he says he must dryfire before field stripping.
  21. Ok, I voted best gun out there, but I only feel that it is the best gun out there FOR MY PURPOSES. It may be a lousy weapon for others--different strokes for different folks. I simply have not found anything else that outperforms a Glock as a CCW first, and an IDPA gun second, and I've tried pretty much everything. I don't have a Gaston statue that I bow to, and I don't preach to everybody that Glocks are what they need and everything else sucks, but they suit my purposes better than anything else currently made. If you're very casual about concealed carry training and practice, then they probably aren't for you. They should only be carried by those who are very conscious of their trigger finger and use a sturdy holster, but so should (IMO) an M&P, Kahr, XD, 1911, etc. I don't understand why so many claim that it's so easy to shoot one's self with a Glock, but think an M&P or an XD is perfectly safe. THEY ARE ALL THE SAME THING! Yeah, yeah, an XD has a grip safety, but as soon as you touch the gun, that goes out the window. I witnessed an XD negligent discharge this weekend, but I haven't posted that everyone should throw away their XDs. If someone states a negative opinion about a Glock, hey, it's a free country. On the other hand, when certain members of this forum post their OPINIONS, but arrogantly expect everyone to regard them as FACT, I am often provoked.
