  1. Good, it gets old.
  2. For the record, I did not mention Glocks.
  3. Not sure if I should put this here, but the Ammo Can seems to be more about reloading and finding good deals. I don't usually put a lot of stock in shooting gelatin blocks, milk jugs full of water, etc., but this test is more interesting than some. What I really find interesting is that the guy says the next phase is shooting through denim before hitting the milk jugs. http://frag.110mb.com:80/
  4. A couple companies are beginning to produce 10 round 9mm mags for single stack 1911s--Tripp Research and Metalform (most 9mm 1911 mags are 9 rounders, I think). I have have two friends who recently purchased each. One more round is not a big deal, unless you are using a 9mm 1911 in IDPA's ESP division. Then, you are evenly matched with the Glocks, STIs, XDs, etc.
  5. The best I've found for WWB 115 FMJ (my personal favorite) is Bass Pro Shops--every three or four months, they put it on sale, usually for $13/$13.50 per 100 rounds.
  6. 9mm/ wonder if the price went up between your purchase and mine. I have a Wal-Mart gift card...I thnk I will go back and see if their prices have changed. If not, poof goes the gift card.
  7. That video is hilarious.
  8. This site doesn't get a lot of traffic, but the entry form and other info can be found here: http://www.tristateshooters.com/forums/index.php
  9. Hopefully, the guy will be ok. He was plainclothes, so who knows for sure what he was carrying, but Memphis issues DAO SIGs. http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2008/jan/05/in-brief/
  10. This is from a post on the Tri State Shooter website: Happy New Year! This year's Regional will be held March 29th at Memphis Sport Shooting Association near Memphis, TN. 13 stages, 13 bays, 200 rds, great facility with camping available and hotels nearby. Prize table includes 2 Glocks and lots more. Col. Jim Shearin of Nationals fame will run the chrono and scale. T-shirt included with entry. Lunch available, prizes and awards at the covered Sporting Clays Pavilion. We had a great turnout last year. If you were there you know the facility is excellent! See the link on the IDPA web site or contact me directly, twoalpha@comcast.net. Hope you can make it!! Myrin
  11. It gets even worse if you start to shoot competitively.
  12. Todd Jarrett is a bad SOB, but I don't like some of what he teaches. A Weaver stance has always worked better for me, possibly because I am right eye dominant, but shoot left-handed. On the other hand, I can't shoot like him, so what the hell do I know? BTW, here is an even faster el presidente drill: [ame] [/ame]
  13. Hope you have thick skin...

    G-19 or XD 9

I shot two XDs and was not impressed. Nothing against them, I just didn't understand all the hype after I shot one.
  15. I shot a friend's STI 9mm 1911 last weekend and I though it was SUUWWEEEEETTTTT! until the extractor broke.
  16. +1 This is my main reason for not telling, unless I'm asked or instructed to get out or whatever. The less gunplay the better, in my book. Besides, I carry one of those highly dangerous Glocks--it would probably go off just by handing it to the cop. On the other hand, if some cops really will cut you some slack, like Marswolf suggested, I'd reconsider.
  17. I didn't leave out anything--you said advances unannounced OR in a threatening manner. Just don't freak if you see a UPS or FedEx guy looking for a better place to put a box. Agreed, let's let it go--it's time to go watch Tennessee lose anyway.
  18. Hmmm...I've never even thought about this. I've always kept my mouth shut to hopefully avoid the proverbial can of worms. Having read too many stories of some LEOs wanting to "hold on" to the gun until the traffic stop is finished, I've always preferred as little gun handling as possible, especially with some of our local cops.
  19. A delivery guy often "advances on your property unannounced." You mention bullets and getting bitten--this is what "triggered" my mention of a possibly itchy trigger finger. I just got the impression that you thought you would always be justified to shoot a stranger on your property. Sometimes you are, but you sounded a little overaggressive. My apologies if I misunderstood.
  20. By "iffy" I meant whether or not a front porch passes the "out of sight/out of weather" test--it has nothing to do with a good or bad neighborhood. Your porch may be a fine place to leave a box, or it may be a lousy one. Packages get stolen all the time from good neighborhoods with $500K mansions. True enough, but I was just going by what you said earlier. And corporate would laugh at you--drivers are told to do this. They are not doing it to snoop around your house, they are simply trying to make sure you get your stuff. Lighten up
  21. If it requires a signature, it doesn't get left without one (except maybe DHL) You're damned right I sometimes deliver to the back door if the front is "iffy", and I've had countless people thank me for it. Ditto for the FedEx guy. This is why I originally mentioned the UPS delivery scenario--it confirms my original suspicion that you are a bit trigger-happy. What is this "big trouble" that you propose?
  22. Baloney--we do it every day. If the garage door is open, we almost always put stuff there first (out of sight/ out of the weather). If you are a FedEx guy, how do you know so much about UPS policy?
  23. Hmmm...a friend and I went to the Bartlett Wal-Mart Friday night and he picked five boxes of the WWB 100 round packs for $15.72 each.
  24. UPS ships servers all the time. However, they will not insure packages for more than $50,000. And if your front porch sucks, don't be shocked to find the UPS guy in your garage or back yard.
