  1. While I don't know much about this guy, his recent pulling out of the race card on Perry turns me off.
  2. or just shoot the whole match before lunch.
  3. TruGlo TFOs, may or may not fit the Pro 1911. Some of the Smiths have a goofball proprietary front dovetail. To the OP, unless your eyes are starting to go, I would ditch the FO and put a plain black front on it, unless you want tritium.
  4. Sent mine yesterday. I am new to the CDP scene and am fully prepared to embarrass myself.
  5. Congrats! I've heard the same eye-opener story many times, and experienced it myself. Be prepared to be lambasted by know-it-alls who will expalin that it is a silly game with paper targets that don't shoot back and doesn't represent reality. They are right, but they fail to see that this enforces what you learned--if you can't handle the artificial stress encountered in a match, how would a real fight turn out? These know-it-alls are often folks who tried IDPA and finished last. Instead of swallowing their pride and improving their skill set and mental game, they live in denial and believe they are fully prepared for a gunfight because they have taken tactical pistol ninja level 2, etc. Some even claim that shooting IDPA matches will get you killed. IDPA is only a game, but it's a great way to find out how you shoot under less than ideal conditions. Enjoy!
  6. Pardoned due to doubt about the evidence? Restore his rights. Pardoned due to a political favor, etc? Nothing indicates that he is now not guilty, so no restoration of rights. I laugh when I read crap like, "if they are safe enough to let out of prison, they are safe enough to own a gun." I guess recidivism is just a myth. Most felons have used such hideously bad judgment to attain their felon status that I'll never trust them with guns (violent or non-violent). Part of their punishment is a loss of certain rights, not a temporary loss of certain rights. Sorry, I just don't feel sorry for criminals.
  7. Dale's + Cavender's + Worcestershire =
  8. 1. What time? 2. How much $$?
  9. I was at a Sandles resort in Jamaica putting on a tux right before my wedding, watching the towers tumble. Our honeymoon, needless to say, was spent watching CNN.
  10. Bring your front sight and your IQ. I left both in the truck.

    Remington 700

Beware of the ADL. Most have a blind magazine, which means he will have to work the bolt and chamber/extract each round individually. Not the end of the world, but it gets old. Hard-core types argue that a blind magazine allows for a slightly more rigid stock, thus increasing accuracy, but this is splitting hairs. Rifles with bottom-ejection floorplates have a hinged door that allows all rounds to fall into the shooter's hand (except the one that's chambered). +1 to whoever said .30-06 is more widely available.
  12. COF is posted for the 2011 TSR this weekend. See ya there! http://home.comcast.net/~tri-state-regional/2009COF/2011%20Tri%20State%20COF2.pdf
  13. I think this qualifies as both "smartass" and "crap."
  14. Theft of $435 of merchandise would be a misdemeanor charge. If convicted, she would probably do no time, depending on her past. I think her hands should be cut off.
  15. Actually, the OP should have the right to comment on who should or shouldn't post responses to his request for help if he gets this type of crap. He asked a simple question, but got everything from people calling him a lawbreaker to a jab about buying foreign. Thread drift is one thing, but smartass comments to the OP that are not related to the thread are another. Who said he will break the law, anyway? Perhaps he plans to do a lot of stop-and-go driving on private property with his Accord.
  16. Where did you work/live? It sounds like you would have a problem in any city which you lived. If the OP works in Gallaway and lives in an eastern suburb, he won't have to deal with much "stuff." On the other hand, I am constantly aware of the fact that anything can happen anywhere, any time--Memphis, Nashville, Franklin, Bristol, Trenton, Gatlinburg, or BFE.
  17. Beware of Fayette County schools. Living in eastern Shelby County, such as Bartlett, Lakeland, or Arlington, you should be fine with a decent drive to work. Tipton County to the north is not far, although it's a bit desolate until you go to the west side of the county. Don't listen to all the "I wouldn't live there for $300k a year" BS. Yes, it's bad in certain areas, but it's not much worse that many other big cities (Nashville comes to mind).
  18. Wow, no respect for the .40.
  19. I disagree. Fleece vests are everywhere during winter, but not everyone is packing.
  20. True enough if you're Clark Griswald, but TV doesn't do the canyon justice if you hike across it.
  21. My father worked there in the 80s. The labor climate must have changed--he said when it was contract season, everyone griped about what they were going to lose or give up with the next contract. Meanwhile, they couldn't produce tires fast enough. He was no union fanatic, but he thought it was silly that the employees would bend over and give up pay or benefits when the company was begging them to work overtime.
  22. Not true. Honda usede to brag about their cars being built in Ohio, I think. Toyota went out of their way to point out that my 06 Tacoma was made in California. It had a Japanese-made gas pedal, which was not included in the gas pedal recall. Guess where those were made?? My 02 Ranger had a sticker on the side of the engine that said MADE IN COLOGNE, GERMANY. How do we define an American-made car?
  23. They already are. Ever seen one of those "No shirt, no shoes-no service" signs?
