I think it is something that is supposed to be a mystery to anyone over 40. I had no idea. I was thinking of asking but I have a philosophy that if I've never heard of it, it isnt worthwhile.

Alan Keyes already lost to Obama once. He is a whacko candidate. I like a lot of what he says but there is no way he is close to viable.
-
There is more to being a candidate than merely having acceptable views. Look at Fred Thompson. I loved him and his views but in the end he was a lightweight. A dream candidate? Antonin Scalia. Good luck as he's too smart for that.

I'd agree. There are so many variables (caliber, bullet style, placement, physical condition of shootee, clothing worn, temperature, etc) that any of them might make a difference at the margin, other things being equal. But other things are never equal.

Considering new carry pistol: discussion of a difficult choice...

1911 in .50 Gastro Intestinal. Bigger really is better. -
Fixed it for ya!

Sorry. He goes after bad guys for a reward. Is that better? Bet I could outrun you, sonny.

Make mine lean, mean, and 9 by 19! The 9mm penetrates just fine. Ammo selection is more critical, thus the Miami shootout where cops were using 115gr HP. Of course something like that happens once every, what, century? I can shoot someone once with a .45acp or 3 times with a 9mm. Both will do the job fine. I dont have any issue with either one but I dont like .40 because it seems to have the limitations of both.

And you thought there wasn't an agenda behind global warming...

You thought correctly. It rests on unproven and unprovable assumptions. It demands sacrifices by its adherents. It labels as pagans those who disagree with it and brooks no dissent. -
OBAMA/CLINTON DEBATE... (know your enemy)
The Rabbi replied to GLOCKMEISTER's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yeah. The next president will have to work hard to raise taxes substantially and expose the country to more terrorist threats. -
So one of my customers is a younger guy who works with some other people as a bounty hunter. Occasionally they do get shot at and always carry. So he wanted a new gun. I sold him on a nice 10mm in no small part because of its excellent stopping power. So he bought the gun, a holster, and some ammo. He mentioned they had a job that very afternoon. He loads the magazine (oops, clip), puts it in the gun, chambers one, and holsters it. Good to go. Take it from me, just don't do that. At least fire the gun a few times before betting your life on it.

SIG 229 in 9mm is the finest semi automatic pistol in the world in its price class. That said I don't own one. I do own: P220 (.45) P228 (9mm) P239 (9mm) P226 (9mm) P230 (9mmKurz)

Studying Torah. That actually isn't a hobby--that's what I'm here for. Reading, especially Vietnam Vets' memoirs.

OBAMA/CLINTON DEBATE... (know your enemy)
The Rabbi replied to GLOCKMEISTER's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Fortunately neither of those clowns can unilaterally ban anything. It would require an act of congress. And too many congressmen, even and esp Democrats, were elected on pro-gun platforms. They will not vote for something they'll have to explain to the folks back home. They are making soundbites for their constituents, trying to sound tough. Guns will be way down on the agenda for any president. -
I threatened to execute Greg Bell last time unless he dropped more points. Dont anyone feel bad. I lost to a 73 year old man in both time and points down.

You would think a vegetarian diet would increase green house gasses. Or some kind of gasses anyway. -
No. Guns don't kill people. Large gaping wounds in vital organs kill people.

Obama- Small town people "cling" to guns and religion
The Rabbi replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Another proponent of the "law enforcement" school. That school says that terrorism is merely crime by another name. So you get evidence, identify suspects, arrest and prosecute for crimes committed. This worked really really well under Clinton, who pursued exactly that strategy. The "it's war" school says this is war by another name. In war you fix and eliminate the enemy while degrading his ability to make war. This is what Bush has done. There havent been any terrorist attacks in the U.S. since Bush started his strategy post 9/11. I'll leave it to people to decide which school is closer to the truth. As for the NY Times, I dont know. I was quoting a whacky grad student at Boulder 20 years ago. I would say they are philosophically akin to homosexuals. In any case the Times stinks and their editorials are tripe. -

Oy, vey. Another one. Compare the cost of this war as a percentage of GDP to any war we've fought. It has been a bargain. The Bush admin never tied Iraq to al Qaeda. That is a strawman argument. As for WMD, they were on very good grounds for thinking Iraq had them. Everyone else did. So I guess every intelligence agency in the world also lied. You will not win a war against Islamic radicals by information. They are not misinformed about anything. They are very well informed. Their goals just happen to be the exact opposite of ours. And yes, if you get your info from the philosophical homosexuals at the NYTimes then that is how the world looks.
