Or Hi Point. It sure sounds like Gcrookston experienced something less than "no hassles." I dont know about the others, but I know Ruger has excellent customer service, so I've heard. Smith has excellent service. SIG had good customer service although I've just had a bad experience with them. Brownell's has excellent service. And the top, as far as I know, is Dillon. Never heard a negative about them.

Unless you send the gun in Taurus has the worst customer service probably of any gun maker. That isn't just my experience, that is the experience of at least 2 wholesalers I deal with. So good luck with that.

odds of being held up in an armed robbery?
The Rabbi replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
What kind of crime is intimidation? Those are sort of meaningless statistics because they do not happen randomly but tend towards certain areas and demographics. If you are a Black drug dealer in Memphis you are far more likely to be the victim of such crime than if you are a white businessman in Brentwood. -
odds of being held up in an armed robbery?

Look back the link posted that listed odds of dying by any method. Your odds of dying from a firearm are about 1 in 25,000. Your odds of dying from a spider bite are about 1 in 21,000. Do you carry a spider venom antidote with you? No, most of us don't, although it would be cheaper and smaller than a handgun. My basic issue is truth. If we misrepresent the reasons for carrying (like we need a reason in the first place) then we aren't a lot better than the folks on the other side. There are good and cogent reasons to carry a gun, so no point in making up stuff. -

I agree mathematics is no substitute for god. I'm glad we got that straightened out. -

If that were the case then there could be no insurance industry. -
They won't. They weren't designed to. They were designed to provide easily concealable, reliable personal protection out to credible threat distances. So they fulfill their purpose pretty well. The 1911 otoh, it is good for opening beer.

So mathematics and reality are two separate things? Or is it just that since the statistics don't support what you want to believe then they must be wrong? The truth is that most people do not carry guns. Most people are never touched by crime. Most people have no need of guns. Just like most people never use their spare tire. It isn't a winning argument. -
Mitt Romney, Rino for gun control!

I dont know what an "unusually lethal gun" is. But I know I want one! -
Ha. I knew those guns were good for something.

I would have thought Fred was pretty pro-gun. -

That's an absurd statement. Just because some people fall victim to the odds does not make the odds any less or greater. Why not tell that to the people who bought guns but have never used them in self-defense? -
Seven, plus one in the chamber.

Remington still makes and sells the Etronix (I think it's called) with cartridges ignited by laser. If CA passes their stupid bill requiring firing pins to have encryption watch for this technology to get new interest.

Typically I compare it to having a spare tire in my car. I never want to use my spare tire. At the same time I would never go anywhere without it. And if you need one, there is no substitute. -

And yet most people don't have life insurance. Or they have too little. Or they have too much. -
I wonder how much training WW1-era officers had in the operation of the gun.

"Because I can" seems like all the reason anyone would need. I like to encourage people to get carry permits even if they don't intend on carrying simply because the more people who do, the more ingrained that right becomes and the less likely it is that someone can take it away. -

You have a much much greater chance of being in a car accident than of being held up. If you are a middle-class white man your chances of being in an armed encounter are very small. That isn't a reason not to carry, but don't try to use it to persuade people. -
Just curious what anyone's impression of this rifle is? Thanks.

You would be taken a lot more seriously (by me anyway) if you stopped speaking in riddles. "About what is happening." What the heck does that mean? What is happening in TN? What is happening in the Middle East? What is happening down at Joe's Bar & Grill? You tell me "what is happening" and what we should be prepared for. This site is not about being a patriot. I don't know what that means. Nancy Pelosi is a patriot. Hillary Clinton is a patriot. Just ask them, they'll tell you so. People coming on here and posting vague and allusive threads about amorphous threats will get their views ridiculed as they so richly deserve.

I'm not pissed off or offended. I just marvel at how little education people have, especially in areas like economics. And then I marvel at the internet. Prior to its invention many people went around with half-baked ideas and crackpot theories with absolutely no outlet for their views. But now they can be read across the planet, demonstrating their total lack of knowledge for anyone with a connection and a computer. It's great!

they dont make them anymore. There's a reason for that.

That doesnt really cut it as evidence for much, except bad decision making in FL.

The gov't doesnt make investments. They spend money, sometimes on worthwhile things like infrastructure. The S&L mess was a lot worse than the mortgage meltdown will be. We got through that one just fine. The dollar was much worse c.1973-1979. We survived that just fine and came into it in much worse shape. Idiotic politicians come and go. None of those add up to Doomsday scenarios.
