  1. I had one that someone had given me. I stuck it in the case and put $5 on it. Some guy came in and bought it. He has come back several times since looking for more. I am guessing he carries a gun but doesn't have a carry permit. I would further guess he couldn't pass the background check.
  2. Couldn't have said it better myself.
  3. I went to MD last summer to pick up my daughter, who was staying with her aunt and uncle for a month. When I crossed the state line from VA to MD I became a criminal. Better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6 and all that.
  4. It's just the principle of it. It is nobody's business whether I have a permit or am carrying a weapon. Until it becomes someone's business. If they ask me to step out I will say something but that's it. It wouldnt be a big deal if they searched my car. Some used tissues, miscellaneous bullets, water stained maps, and half a bottle of motor oil is all they're going to find. But I dont want anyone searching my car either. Some cops come with the attitude that the only difference between an honest citizen and a criminal is that the honest citizen hasnt been caught yet. I'm not putting up with that. If they go ape**** because I have a gun I will be making complaints and putting letters in personnel files.
  5. I want something that will make him do more than just holler.
  6. No. What you were actually told was: "You play with your itchy-kitchy pee-pee you'll get hair on your palms and go blind." I dont know who told you that, but she was just pulling your leg. Or something.
  7. No, but you can bet someone pretty soon will be screaming for the US to "do something". Something here defined in monetary terms.
  8. It wasn't Lavergne. That still isnt a good reason in my book. That kind of behavior is a good reason to lodge a formal complaint and/or sue the bastards.
  9. Law states that the permit holder must produce his permit on request from the officer. That's it. No request, no permit. I don't see any reason whatsoever to announce the fact in advance. And don't do like the one idiot who, when stopped for a traffic violation, shouted out the window to the approaching officer "I've GOT A GUN!" I am going to be polite. I am going to be truthful. But I am not going to be particularly helpful.
  10. A 9mm Glock is not a slim pistol, neither is a CZ75. What they have in common is bore axis. The CZ75 has an exceptionally low bore axis. The SIG an exceptionally high one. Ditto for revolvers. You would do extremely well with an HK P7. Oh, the Glock, 1911, CZ, and Taurus are all preferred by sissy steel guitar players. Maybe that's it.
  11. To my knowledge, no, there is no minimum. I have heard of people qualifying with e.g. Ruger Mark IIs.
  12. Hmm, eating pork BBQ on a Saturday. I'll have to consider that. I'll consider it out of the question.
  13. de inimico non loquaris male sed cogites. Dont speak ill about your enemy but plan it. Yours says "don't speak about your enemy but think about him." Sorry. Too many years in grad school in Classics. Old habits die hard.
  14. Not political promises but their equal worth. Actual the stuff in the tanker could probably used as fertilizer. Suntzu, your Latin tag is incorrect: it doesn't mean what you say.
  15. Not only that, it constitutes the largest "greenhouse gas" known! Ban it now. For the children!
  16. The one I remember was their campaign against "di-hydrogen oxide", how it was in everything, it was in all the rivers and lakes. Boy, some people felt real stupid when it was pointed out they had signed a petition to ban water.
  17. What do Scottsmen wear beneath their kilt?? [ame] [/ame]
  18. Geez, what a piece of sh*t-- Oh, oops. Yeah, Nice gun. Very nice......
  19. I am personally acquainted with Jim Mauth, one of the instructors. He is a fine person with a lot of experience and a good shooter. I believe he trained members of the Coast Guard in small arms in his working life. You should pretty happy with the experience but I would be interested in hearing your impressions.
  20. I would take that bet. And win. If the barrel/slide/frame do not fit it is called a reject and weeded out by QC. Unlike the 1911 the SIG was not designed to be hand assembled by trained workmen. Assembly/disassembly is pretty easy. Every part for the individual model will fit every other gun of that model. That was one of the Army's tests when they went to the 9mm. They took 20 or so guns, thoroughly disassembled them, sorted the parts into buckets and then re-assembled them as complete guns, taking parts at random. If all the guns worked, they passed the test. The only 2 to pass, iirc, were the Beretta 92 and the SIG P226.
  21. Yes, call ahead. Stunning amount of inventory. Good prices. Top notch range. Nice to see you posting here, Fast-talker. Hope you're enjoying the 19.
  22. On some reflection I am going to add: A SIG is not a 1911. A SIG is a quality firearm that is designed to work 100% right out of the box. A barrel should not need to be "fitted", if it is factory. The only exception I could see might be a burr somewhere on it left over from manufacture. That should be easy to spot on comparison with the factory barrel. Without pics the thread is useless..... On some investigation I will ask a stupid question: In earlier posts No-Bling says he got a SIG P226 in .357SIG that came with an extra .40 barrel. This thread says he has a .40 barrel for his SIG P229 that wont fit. Let's start by making sure whether the gun is a 226 or a 229, whether the barrels are made for the 226 or the 229. Sounds obvious I know, but you'd be surprised.
  23. I'd start by comparing the .40 S&W barrel you have with the .357SIG barrel you have and see where they differ. Esp in the areas underneath where the lug is.
  24. No, but it's happened. Sometimes the customer doesnt know it's stolen. That would be a terrific gun control act though. It's a double whammy. The buyer has no access to the NICS database of stolen weapons, so can't verify legitimacy. But he is still on the hook for the gun if it comes up stolen. The only solution is to run everything through a dealer's books. Which I think is on the drawing board somewhere. In pushing the legislation, Sen. Leghorn could bloviate about it being an effective method of stopping the traffic in illegal guns that is killing kids in inner cities. What a deal!
  25. I would guess our laws are a little more intelligent. No surprise. If that were the case, I would be out of business and in jail.
